Background / History

Raiden Mei is the daughter of Raiden Ryoma, former president of ME Corp. After Ryoma is imprisoned, she loses her position as Senba Academy's “Thunder Queen” and becomes the target of sustained harassment from classmates, who label her a criminal's daughter. Initially isolated and increasingly reclusive, she endures the abuse with a cold, controlled exterior. 12 13

Gwen first intervenes when two former classmates harass her in an alley. He later contacts her through earphones placed in her bag, revealing that Ryoma was framed and that Cocolia's plans for Changkong City may involve Mei as an experimental subject. Mei cautiously accepts his help after reviewing the information he provides. 12 14

While cooperating with Gwen to locate the Gem of Conquest, Mei discovers that the memories connected to its disappearance are unclear. She agrees to pose publicly as Gwen's girlfriend to mislead Cocolia's surveillance, a cover that reduces the overt bullying she faces at school. 15 17 18

During Cocolia's Honkai outbreak, Mei refuses to abandon Kiana and absorbs a massive influx of Honkai energy. When Gwen is overwhelmed by the Herrscher of the Void, this culminates in Mei's awakening as an incomplete Third Herrscher. Gwen's One-Body Fusion helps stabilize her transformation and prevents her from losing control. 19 21 22

After Gwen rescues Ryoma, Mei learns that Gwen had concealed elements of his identity and mission. She forgives him after sensing his feelings through their fusion and recognizing his repeated efforts to protect her and her father.
