Xi Xiu pondered for a while. "Let's take a look after I recover. Get some rest first."
Since they had finally laid everything bare, this was the first night the two of them had spent alone together.
Qing Zhixun was somewhat excited.
But Xi Xiu clearly had no interest in continuing to discuss the past.
She focused all her attention on the data Qing Zhixun had obtained during the day.
After looking at it for a while, she grew tired again. Her body was still very weak.
In less than five minutes, she had fallen asleep once more.
Qing Zhixun kept watch outside the medical pod. His injuries were not as severe as Xi Xiu's. He only needed to soak in the medical pod for four hours a day and could move freely the rest of the time.
The protective barrier had never been withdrawn. Although Qing Zhixun had tested the air outside and found no poisonous gases, he still used an oxygen generator to sustain both his and Xi Xiu's breathing for safety's sake.
The night was very quiet.
Light from somewhere illuminated the lake. The lake reflected beautiful halos of light, like the fairyland described in books Qing Zhixun had once read.
Beautiful ripples glittered across the surface, as though some form of life were stirring beneath it.
Yet when Qing Zhixun scanned it with his instruments, he found nothing.
Suppressing his doubts, Qing Zhixun soon fell asleep as well.
After he and Xi Xiu had both sunk into slumber, the lights on the lake's surface gathered together.
Before long, they had actually formed the shape of a human body.
They drifted closer and peered at the two people inside the protective barrier, but they did not break through it.
They merely observed in silence.
