Background
Ye Zhenwei spent her childhood seriously ill and isolated within the Ye Family. She did not attend school or receive ordinary Alliance civic education until her recovery, having instead been educated primarily by her mother, Tang Yongyu. Her parents viewed her exceptional potential as the means to raise the Ye Family and Tianning Star System to prominence 2 767.
After recovering, she was sent to Gaia for elite education. At thirteen, she was publicly introduced at an extravagant banquet hosted by several great families, becoming Gaia's most celebrated young talent and a prospective marriage partner for powerful heirs 26 27. Her polished etiquette, delicate appearance, and 3S Mental Power contrasted sharply with the expectations attached to her as a future Alliance weapon 26 28.
Wei Lanshan later uncovered evidence that Ye Zhenwei's extraordinary talent had been artificially induced through a virus, with the Tang Family implicated in the surrounding manipulation 397. The consequences of that intervention, her prolonged illness, and her upbringing shaped much of her unstable development.
Appearance
Ye Zhenwei is repeatedly described as exceptionally beautiful, with a delicate and vulnerable-looking demeanor that contrasts with her formidable Mental Power.
- Fair-skinned, with lively eyes and graceful bearing 26.
- Possesses a gentle, frail-seeming aura that causes others to underestimate her 27 228.
- At twenty-four, she is described as a poised young woman whose appearance remains markedly softer than that of most Alliance warriors 113.
- Her apparent gentleness can disappear abruptly when angered, revealing a fierce and intimidating expression 223.
Personality
During her early years on Gaia, Ye Zhenwei presented herself as humble, shy, and eager to learn. The great families and Star Net audiences initially perceived her as a sweet, gifted girl deserving of protection 27. Beneath that image, however, years of flattery, privilege, and her parents' expectations fostered an intense sense of entitlement.
Ye Zhenwei is highly competitive and reacts poorly to anyone whose talent threatens her position. Learning that another experimental subject might possess comparable potential provoked immediate rage; she believed that beings more gifted than herself should not exist 223. She is particularly sensitive to perceived rejection, humiliation, and challenges to her status.
Yuan Chuhong's instruction temporarily made her more disciplined and politically aware. She came to understand that character, public trust, and military leadership mattered alongside raw talent, and she trained seriously after suffering defeats 225 227. However, this improvement remained unstable. Yuan Chuhong had deliberately cultivated her as a pawn, preserving many of the flaws that made her easier to manipulate 769.
Later experiences—her abandonment by mentors, manipulation by Qin Hongjun, and conflict with the Alliance—left her increasingly isolated, distrustful, and revenge-driven 770 959. She eventually acted with calculated hostility against Jingsu, focusing on personal grievances rather than the welfare of the Alliance 952.
Abilities & Skills
3S Mental Power
Ye Zhenwei possesses 3S-class Mental Power, a level regarded as extraordinary within the Jingsu Alliance. Her raw output is immense, but her ability to apply it effectively has varied sharply depending on her training and condition.
- Can use Mental Power as a direct offensive weapon and suppress opponents in close combat 366.
- Detected and exploited the respiratory organs around a merfolk leader's ears, infiltrating the weakness with Mental Power and temporarily incapacitating him 366.
- Learned a secret Mental Power attack from Yuan Chuhong and used it against the same enemy commander 367.
- Initially lacked fine-control training despite her high output; she could not state how many objects or fragments she could control simultaneously 118.
- Her body cannot safely withstand unlimited Mental Power expenditure; excessive use risks physical collapse 959.
- Later assessments suggested that her Mental Power had stagnated or possibly declined despite her reputation 952.
Martial Skills
Ye Zhenwei initially relied too heavily on her Mental Power, leaving her physical combat and Martial Skills behind her natural talent. Under Yuan Chuhong and the Elder Council's training program, she made substantial progress.
- Wields a highly resilient metal long whip capable of inflicting severe wounds when enhanced by Mental Power 205.
- Carries a pair of curved blades for close-range combat when her whip loses effectiveness 205.
- Was defeated by Xi Xiu after being pressured into close combat, exposing her early weakness in practical fighting 205.
- Later infiltrated a merfolk starship with her assault team, fighting through its defenders and reaching the command center 365.
- Her later techniques were considered precise and greatly improved by Yuan Chuhong and Xue Zixian 365.
Command and Tactical Operations
Ye Zhenwei became capable of leading frontline operations, though her harsh treatment of subordinates and narrow focus on personal victory limited her suitability for high command.
- Led her first Tianwei support mission to reinforce Miu Run at the Barren Sea 362.
- Organized the boarding assault against the merfolk command ship and assigned Yue Qila and Zhang Jixing to neutralize the enemy leader's guard 365.
- Secured enemy vessels and intelligence after the merfolk engagement 367.
- Her leadership could be severe; she pushed Yi Mingda's team to improve through methods that were widely disliked 364.
- A later system assessment concluded that her dominant disposition and lack of breadth made her better suited to being a soldier than a commanding general 957.
System Augmentation
After falling under Qin Hongjun's influence, Ye Zhenwei operated with a program installed in her brain.
- The system provided rapid data processing, combat calculations, Star Net access, and fleet-deployment recommendations 953 954.
- Its computational similarity to the Central Brain was assessed at 95% 953.
- The system secretly backed up Ye Zhenwei's data before battle and later replaced her usual support with a more limited backup version 957.
- Ye Zhenwei eventually realized that the system and Qin Hongjun had manipulated her, and she temporarily disconnected from it to regain mental clarity 959.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Mental Power-enhanced long whip — Constructed from a new, highly resilient metal; dangerous at range but disadvantaged in close quarters 205.
- Curved blades — A pair of agile close-combat weapons stored in her Space Locket 205.
- Space Locket — Used to carry weapons and equipment 205.
- Tianwei fighter jets and starships — Commanded during Tianwei operations and the assault on the merfolk force 362 364.
- Neural combat system — Qin Hongjun's implanted system, used for combat calculations and network access 953 954.
Relationships
- Ye Yunhan — Her father, a Tianning general who treated her talent as the Ye Family's path to power. Ye Zhenwei later resented him and sought to distance herself from the family 2 767.
- Tang Yongyu — Her mother and primary childhood educator. Tang's indulgence, ambition, and influence contributed heavily to Ye Zhenwei's self-centered outlook 225 422.
- Wei Lanshan — Treated Ye Zhenwei's illness in the past. Their later interactions are hostile, as Ye Zhenwei refuses to acknowledge Wei's help and views her as a rival 223 225.
- Yuan Chuhong — Her Martial Skills teacher, adviser, and architect of her public rehabilitation. He nurtured her combat ability while ultimately intending to use her as a pawn 227 769.
- Chris Boyuan — Former fiancé. Chris initially cared deeply for her, but their engagement ended after Ye Zhenwei pursued Qing Shihao and publicly accused the Boyuan Family of treating her as a breeding tool 229.
- Qing Shihao — The object of Ye Zhenwei's obsessive pursuit and later her primary enemy. His rejection became one of the central motivations behind her attack on Haian Fortress 145 952.
- Xilo Muwen — A devoted supporter whose loyalty repeatedly harmed him. He was severely injured protecting her, yet later followed her after she turned against Jingsu 154 951.
- Hong Xixiu / Xi Xiu — Her half-sister. Ye Zhenwei regarded Xi Xiu as both a rival and a target, later attempting to expose their relationship and seeking her death alongside Qing Zhixun 952.
- Qin Hongjun — Manipulated Ye Zhenwei through a neural system, used her in his conflict with Jingsu, then abandoned and captured her once her value as a subject outweighed her value as an ally 959 969.
- Yue Qila and Zhang Jixing — Former academy associates who served under Ye Zhenwei during the Tianwei operation; she favored and trusted them more than many of her other subordinates 365.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Gaia Prodigy
Following her recovery, Ye Zhenwei becomes the Alliance's most publicized young 3S talent. Her debut on Gaia attracts great-family attention, marriage proposals, pirate interest, and intense public expectations 26 28.
Engagement and Pursuit of Qing Shihao
Ye Zhenwei becomes engaged to Chris Boyuan but pursues Qing Shihao instead, believing that a partnership with him would elevate her further. Her conduct damages her reputation, leads to intervention by the military academy, and ultimately destabilizes her engagement 116 156.
Haian Failure and Retraining
During the A78 operation, Xilo is seriously injured while protecting Ye Zhenwei, and two soldiers die after she withdraws her Mental Power attack due to physical exhaustion 154. Ostracized afterward, she returns to Gaia for retraining under Yuan Chuhong and begins rebuilding her combat ability and public image 227.
Tianwei Command and Barren Sea Incident
As a colonel, Ye Zhenwei leads Tianwei reinforcements to Miu Run, boards a merfolk starship, and defeats its commander through tactical use of her Mental Power 362 366. Soon afterward, her starship vanishes in the Barren Sea; she and her crew are later found in an unexplained sleep within a newly formed Xinghai 368 394.
Tianning Assignment and Alliance Suspicion
The Elder Council transfers Ye Zhenwei to Tianning, partly because of the Ye Family's role in the system's instability. Although she initially manages the garrison without major failures, the suspicious retreat of Qin Hongjun's robot legions deepens doubts about her loyalty 767 896.
Defection and Attack on Haian
After aligning with Qin Hongjun and commanding Eternal Robots, Ye Zhenwei marches on Haian Fortress to exact revenge on Qing Shihao, Qing Zhixun, and Xi Xiu 952. Her system-assisted fleet is outmaneuvered by Qing Shihao, who hacks her fighter and isolates her from her forces 957.
Abandonment by Qin Hongjun
Ye Zhenwei discovers that Qin Hongjun never intended to protect her. After realizing that Yuan Chuhong, the Elder Council, and Qin Hongjun had all exploited her, she attempts to regain control of her own life by disconnecting from the system 959. Qin Hongjun subsequently captures her and uses her genetic material to produce short-lived Talent Warriors 969.
