Background / History

Kiana encounters Bai Chen in a ruined Changkong City while fighting Honkai creatures alongside Mei and Bronya. Though he slows the group’s escape, she protects him, puts herself between him and a Temple-class Honkai Beast, and continues fighting after her pistol fails to damage it. Her evasive maneuvering and taunts buy time until Bai Chen transforms and destroys the threat. 1

Theresa later enrolls Kiana, Bai Chen, Mei, and Bronya at St. Freya Academy. Kiana fails her written examination but remains certain she will place first; she also repeatedly defeats Bai Chen in fighting games. 2 3

While exploring Schicksal’s virtual database, Kiana is transported into a simulation surrounding Kallen Kaslana’s execution. Learning that Kallen is her ancestor, she insists on rescuing her despite the danger. After Bai Chen brings Kallen’s data-consciousness into the real world, Kiana excitedly welcomes and hugs her. 4 6

During the Changkong City operation against the Mimic Herrscher Yuno, Kiana argues that a corrupted person should not be written off without attempting communication. Later, she is devastated when Bai Chen remains behind during the Chi You crisis and initially believes he has died; upon his return, she affirms that Valkyries should not be underestimated and promises to protect him. 11 24

Kiana is drawn into a dream confrontation with the Herrscher of the Void, who exploits her fear of being too weak to save her friends. Bai Chen enters the dream to support her and challenges the Herrscher’s attempts to break her spirit. 27 28

Kiana is impulsive, confident, and highly competitive. She rushes into combat when her weapon proves ineffective, boasts about her expected exam results despite poor academic performance, and takes particular enjoyment in defeating Bai Chen at games. 1 3

Beneath her carefree behavior, she is compassionate and stubbornly idealistic. She refuses to accept that Yuno is necessarily beyond saving, identifies the Kaslana ideal as being “the shield of the people,” and is determined to save Kallen after learning of their connection. 4 11

She is intensely protective of people she considers important. Her fear and anger over Bai Chen’s apparent death give way to a direct promise to protect him, while her later anxiety over losing friends fuels her wish to become stronger. 24 27
