When Chen Lin raced like wind and lightning to the entrance of Nanxing Fortress, he gulped down a few breaths, then immediately shouted at the Silver Armored Soldiers guarding the gate, "Quick, report to your superiors! A massive number of beasts have appeared to the south, possibly a Beast Tide. Tell your general to sound the alarm at once!"
"What did you say?" The gate guard's eyes widened as he asked in utter disbelief.
"I said a suspected Beast Tide has appeared in the south! Hurry up and report it to your superiors!" Chen Lin roared, his expression grim.
The silver-armored general on duty atop the wall suddenly heard Chen Lin's exchange with the soldiers at the fortress entrance. His face immediately turned solemn. He leaped down, landing heavily beside Chen Lin, and asked coldly, "Is your information accurate? Where did the Beast Tide appear? How far is it from Nanxing Fortress?"
"I saw the Beast Tide with my own eyes. I estimate it is more than eighty li from here," Chen Lin replied with a serious expression.
Upon hearing this, the silver-armored general instructed several soldiers behind him, "You, light the beacon smoke and warn the other two fortresses. You, bring me my warhorse—I will investigate personally. You, report to the commander-in-chief. Tell him a Beast Tide has appeared and order everyone into first-level alert."
Seeing the silver-armored general issue orders in an orderly fashion and set his men into motion, Chen Lin finally felt the stone hanging over his heart lighten considerably.
After giving all his orders, the silver-armored general turned to Chen Lin and said sternly, "To confirm whether this is true, do not leave Nanxing Fortress before I return."
Chen Lin nodded. "Of course."
Before long, a soldier led the silver-armored general's warhorse to the fortress
