Background

Chen Lin’s family lived in a shared courtyard on Willow Leaf Lane in Nanqing City’s outer city. The Chen Clan funded his martial training, housing, and his father’s slaughterhouse work, but expected repayment through his future success; failure would leave the family indebted to the clan. 2 4

After failing the martial arts examination, Chen Lin discovers that Ding Yushi drugged his predecessor and that Duan Xingze orchestrated the scheme. Rather than publicly lash out, he resolves to uncover the truth and avenge the betrayal. 2
