"I knew it would turn out like this."

Watching the Flying Machine fall from the sky, Theodore could not help but breathe a sigh of relief, then muttered in complaint, "Master Herlam really shouldn't indulge her so much..."

Lynn gazed up at the sky. The massive Flying Machine was swaying in midair, and it was falling directly toward the square.

Yet the people gathered in the square showed no signs of panic. Lynn gave up on the idea of intervening. It looked as though someone would handle this mess.

Sure enough, just as the Flying Machine was about to crash into the ground, several wizards in the square acted at once. They cast Levitation Spells together, allowing the airborne machine to land steadily in the center of the square. However, its battered wings had long since fallen apart, and the Camel Beast Leather covering them had been blown away by the wind.

"It really could only fly a tiny bit..."

Joanne watched the Flying Machine rise and fall, then turned to look at Lynn, deeply curious as to how he had known so clearly.

"Steam power alone isn't enough to sustain flight. The overall design of the body also doesn't really conform to aerodynamics... A crash was inevitable." Lynn shook his head and replied softly. He had naturally seen the problems with the Flying Machine at a glance.

Still, for this halfling girl named Lydia to make a Flying Machine out of such rudimentary materials and actually get it running, she was absolutely an engineering genius.

Imitating birds by flapping wings to generate lift was not a bad idea, but it was too simplistic. She had only copied the most basic form without understanding the underlying principles.

All in all... history had already proven that steam-powered airplanes had no future.
