Inside the Apocalypse Shop, Chen Ke and Mo Li stared at the dazzling array of goods, their eyes practically unable to take it all in.
"Jiang Yang is so strong. He should be a Basic Warrior, right?"
Chen Ke looked at the page for the Professional Scrolls. This Apocalypse Store had many different professions.
But every profession had the word "Basic" in front of it.
"He's not a Basic Warrior. His profession should be much stronger than the ones sold here."
At the mention of Jiang Yang, Mo Li's expression became somewhat complicated.
Recalling Jiang Yang's fighting, Mo Li glanced at the professions here. "Jiang Yang's profession most likely wasn't bought here."
"You saw it too. Every profession here has the word 'Basic' attached, which means there are higher-tier ones. Jiang Yang's is probably..." Mo Li trailed off. Her expression suddenly changed slightly. Someone had entered.
"Be more confident. Drop the 'probably.'"
Jiang Yang led a group of people straight into the Apocalypse Shop. The store was well soundproofed, and almost no sound from outside could be heard, so Chen Ke and Mo Li had not heard him dealing with those people.
"How did you get in?"
Chen Ke looked toward the entrance. His subordinates were all sprawled on the ground, and cold sweat immediately seeped out. He had yet to exchange for a profession. If he clashed with Jiang Yang here, things would go badly.
Jiang Yang looked Chen Ke over. The man did not seem to be carrying a gun, and in Jiang Yang's perception, the blood in Chen Ke's body was flowing rapidly. He seemed extremely nervous.
Was he worried Jiang Yang would kill him?
Jiang Yang was indeed tempted. Chen Ke had been getting in his way. He had not killed him earlier because Chen Ke's side had many people, all armed with guns. But now, there was no one beside him, and he was not carrying a gun either.
As for Mo Li, she could basically be considered to have no combat ability.
Thinking of this, Jiang Yang was eager to make a move. But after carefully considering it, he still suppressed the thought. Chen Ke might still prove useful later.
"Boss Chen, why are you so nervous?"
"It's not like I'm going to eat you."
Jiang Yang teased him, then walked to the Apocalypse Shop's counter. With a wave of his hand, countless zombie claws and fangs fell onto the counter, giving off waves of foul stench.
But the next moment, they vanished from the counter. Jiang Yang's account appeared on the pale blue screen, showing more than five hundred Apocalypse Coins.
Chen Ke and Mo Li's pupils both contracted slightly at the sight. They only had a little over a hundred Apocalypse Coins between them, while Jiang Yang actually had over five hundred.
"Over five hundred. That should buy a lot of things, right?"
"Probably quite a bit. I wonder what the prices are like here."
Qiu Chan, Ye Qingwei, and the others had no concept of the prices in the Apocalypse Store yet. They did not know what five hundred represented or whether it was enough, but Xiao Wan was slightly dissatisfied.
"So many zombie materials, and that's all they're worth?"
Unlike the others, Xiao Wan, as Jiang Yang's butler, was more sensitive to the word "economy." For ordinary people, killing even one zombie took a great deal of effort.
And the zombie claws and fangs Jiang Yang had just taken out numbered around five hundred. In other words, a zombie claw or another body part could only be exchanged for one Apocalypse Coin.
In Xiao Wan's eyes, those zombie claws and fangs were far too cheap.
"It's not bad. Those zombies were all still Level 0 Zombies. The shop giving us one Apocalypse Coin each is already decent enough." Jiang Yang smiled faintly, then waved his hand again. Another pile of materials appeared on the counter.
They were materials from the lizard he had killed earlier, along with some body parts from Mutant Zombies.
"In the apocalypse, zombies are the least valuable. In comparison, the organs of those Mutant Zombies and some Monsters are worth much more!"
Jiang Yang's voice was not quiet, and he emphasized the word "Mutant."
Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Mo Li. She was looking at him eagerly, as though hoping he would say more.
Li Shun seemed to see Jiang Yang's intent and immediately played along.
"So that's how it is, Bro Jiang. Then what types of Mutant Zombies are there?"
"Quite a few of the zombies we killed before seemed to be mutants, but every one of them looked different."
As soon as he said that, Mo Li could no longer hold herself back. She stared straight at Jiang Yang. For a professor in Biopharmaceuticals, things like mutants that involved biology and genes were simply too alluring.
Sensing that Mo Li's thirst for knowledge had been stirred, Jiang Yang silently gave Li Shun an approving look. Then he beckoned. "Everyone, gather over here. This is a team secret."
Ye Qingwei blinked, seemingly understanding something. She moved up beside Jiang Yang and reached toward his waist, exerting force with her little hand. "Brother, you seem really concerned about that female professor?"
The pretty, adorable girl gritted her teeth, but she could not twist Jiang Yang's absurdly sturdy waist at all. She could only vent her frustration with her eyes.
"Of course I'm concerned. She was my university teacher!" Jiang Yang gently wrapped an arm around Ye Qingwei, then looked at the people gathering around him.
"Everyone, pay attention to that female professor named Mo Li. She's a leading figure in Biopharmaceuticals. If possible, try to bring her into our team. She'll be of help to us in the future!"
Jiang Yang's intention to snatch Mo Li away was obvious. He simply stopped hiding it and told everyone in the team directly.
"Knowledge is power. Even in the apocalypse, the value of these researchers is immeasurable!"
Jiang Yang stressed the point heavily. Mo Li had to come with them, whether she wanted to or not. It was not because Jiang Yang liked her, but because she was too important.
"A leading figure in Biopharmaceuticals? That amazing? I thought..." Ye Qingwei lowered her head, feeling a little embarrassed. She had thought Jiang Yang coveted the woman because she was beautiful.
She had not expected Jiang Yang to value her research abilities.
Ye Qingwei felt annoyed with herself. Her little hand gently stroked Jiang Yang's waist. She had been too petty.
Jiang Yang treated her so well. How could he possibly have wandering eyes?
Ye Qingwei felt somewhat guilty. She had really wronged Brother Jiang. But with so many women in the team, she couldn't help feeling a sense of crisis.
At that thought, waves of warmth flowed through Ye Qingwei's body. Only by becoming a capable woman could she hold her place at Jiang Yang's side. She refused to be a mere ornament!
Ye Qingwei was overthinking it, but the others in the team were thinking plenty as well. Qiu Chan wore an enlightened expression; clearly, she had come to the same conclusion as Ye Qingwei.
Li Shun and Wu Lei exchanged meaningful looks, while Zhang Yao remained silent. Only Tang Ya and Xiao Wan rolled their eyes.
Would Jiang Yang really value someone solely for her research abilities?
They would rather believe in ghosts than believe a word out of Jiang Yang's mouth!
