Background / History
Qiu Chan was the School Beauty of Linjiang University and the undisputed ace of its Kendo Club. A National Martial Arts prodigy who had studied swordsmanship since childhood, she possessed insight beyond even the club's instructors. Her cold, formidable reputation kept most admirers at a distance; she told would-be suitors that they had to defeat her first. 20 21 128
Before the apocalypse, she preferred operating alone rather than fitting into a group. In the original timeline, she briefly guided Ye Fan after recognizing his potential, then eventually became the lone-wandering Sword Saintess, a Level Nine powerhouse feared throughout the apocalypse. 20 42 129
During the outbreak, Qiu Chan fought through zombies at the Kendo Club with an aged Qi Family Tang Saber. The weapon allowed her to perceive weak points, amplify damage when striking them, and recover stamina, enabling her to survive against the Gemini Demon and the surrounding undead. 17 20
After encountering Jiang Yang, she became determined to defeat him and followed him until she could formally challenge him. Jiang Yang overwhelmingly suppressed her in their first spar, after which she accepted him as her master in pursuit of greater strength. 21 26
Appearance
Qiu Chan is renowned as Linjiang University's school beauty, with a flawless appearance matched by an icy, unapproachable aura. In combat, her movements are repeatedly compared to a dancing butterfly, a phantom, or a noble dancer. 17 20 318
- Frequently carries either the Tang Saber or the Jing Jue Sword.
- Originally wore a kendo uniform while fighting at the university; later trains in fitted combat and martial-arts clothing. 20 46 638
- Her presence becomes increasingly ethereal as her understanding of the Jing Jue Sword deepens, earning her the image of a Sword Immortal. 425
- Emits visible sword intent and sword energy in battle; at higher levels, this presence can suppress an entire battlefield. 631 746
Personality
Qiu Chan is intensely competitive and single-minded in her pursuit of strength. She is drawn to capable opponents, respects superior skill or power, and continually seeks opportunities to challenge Jiang Yang despite repeatedly being outmatched by him. 21 26 101 303
She is practical about survival, accepting that the apocalypse is governed by strength and allegiance rather than simple notions of good and evil. Her bluntness and sarcasm often emerge when responding to Jiang Yang's behavior, particularly his treatment of women. 33 59
Despite her pride, Qiu Chan is loyal to her companions. She protects Jiang Yang during Ye Fan's attack, defends Ye Qingwei, and later confronts Descartes to avenge Jiang Yang while he is believed dead. 42 144 631
