An Unexpected Teacher
Aaron stared at keyhole number 30, stroking his chin in thought for a long while, "I guess I should just rule it out!"
"Ah!" Jeans was taken aback. "Did I not explain it clearly just now?"
"Young master, as someone who's been through this, I'm giving you this advice: you can't go wrong with this."
"Forget it! Even if it's not wrong, I'm too old for it. Let's wait a few years and talk about it again!"
Besides, don't think I can't see through you. If you want to drink, do it yourself. You don't need to use my name as a cover.
"Well... alright!" Jeans gave an awkward yet impolite smile, then inserted the key into the first lock. "Let's check them one by one then!"
The Secret Chamber opened, Aaron, carrying Abei, followed Jeans through the door.
As soon as I took my first step, a scorching heat hit me.
Looking around, the secret Secret Chamber was filled with crimson magma, and in the center were several huge mechanical furnaces, which were ready to be turned on and made clanging sounds from time to time.
In addition, there were piles of various rare minerals on the side, which emitted different lusters and were priceless just by looking at them.
"This place was transformed from the center of a volcano, and the patriarch of that generation used immense magical power to lure it into the family's Secret Chamber."
It is not located in a volcano, but its energy comes from the volcano, and it can maintain a relatively high temperature at all times.
"I'm sure you can tell, young master, that this is a forging room, used to craft Divine Weapon."
Aaron nodded blankly. "There were blacksmiths in the family history?"
"There is only one, but his achievements are quite remarkable."
Over a thousand years ago, this patriarch was treated as an honored guest by several kingdoms as the foremost blacksmith, and even now, the weapons he forged are considered family heirlooms within royal families.
Aaron rubbed his head, unsure how to respond.
This ancestor gave up being a proper Warlock to become a blacksmith; this is clearly putting the cart before the horse.
But he chose a different path and reached the pinnacle, accumulating a vast network of connections for his family.
Royal friendships! And not just one, who dares to say he's narrowed his path?
"So, the theme of this Secret Chamber is forging?"
Will you still teach me?
"No, I wouldn't," Jeans said bluntly.
"Then why did you bring me here? To figure it out myself?"
Of course not.
"My subordinate said that each Secret Chamber has a unique teaching method." Jeans said, leading Aaron to the center of the Secret Chamber, where a black stone pillar slowly emerged from a small piece of lava.
"Just put your hand on it."
Aaron did as he was told, extending his right hand and pressing it onto the hand model on the stone pillar.
The next moment, strange patterns appeared on the stone pillar, and lava slowly flowed up along these patterns, forming a human figure in the air above the stone pillar.
Soon the lava disappeared, and a young man with black hair and silver eyes who looked somewhat like Aaron appeared in front of the two.
This young man is similar to Ghost; he has a certain degree of self-awareness and can pass through any physical entity.
But unlike Ghost, its cool entrance alone is enough to put Ghost to shame, and its body is no different from a human's, not the grayish-white color unique to Ghost.
When Jeans saw the figure appear, he immediately bowed to show his respect.
The middle-aged man nodded slightly, then turned his gaze to Aaron and began to introduce himself, "I am the forty-seventh patriarch, Gorr Gaius."
Outstanding junior, would you like to learn forging?
I can teach you to forge an indestructible weapon that will allow you to defeat all enemies. And if one day you become the God of Magic, perhaps you could even use it to slay a god.
"That's way too exaggerated!" Aaron chuckled, somewhat disbelieving.
Don't you believe me?
It doesn't matter. You're not the first, and you're destined not to be the last.
Is this true?
Just as Argus was about to speak, Jeans coughed, "Um... please forgive my rudeness, but young master Aaron is only ten years old this year."
"Ten years old?" Argus raised an eyebrow, looked Aaron over carefully, and couldn't help but smile. "Interesting, very interesting."
"Little guy, you've been hiding it well!"
Aaron's heart skipped a beat. He realized that his true strength hadn't escaped the eyes of this ancestor. He immediately put on a harmless, shy smile and said, "Ancestor, you won't reveal it, will you?"
"No, it's your own achievement to have done this much. I'm not so petty as to hold a grudge against a junior."
Besides, I've been through the same thing, so I know how difficult it is to be an heir.
Aaron admitted that he was moved. "Ancestor, you are a good man."
"A good person?" Argus laughed. "That assessment really doesn't apply to me. I've never killed anyone, but the number of people who have died because of the weapons I've made is at least in the four digits."
"That's not quite right, because the number of people who die with Wand is far greater, yet the Magic World hasn't banned their sale, has it?"
"Well said, I'm starting to like you a little."
Aaron scratched his head sheepishly, then asked, "Ancestor, what state are you in right now?"
"They don't seem like a living person, and they don't seem like Ghost at all."
"This is a profound magic, memory magic."
On the day my time was about to end, I connected my entire memory with this space. As long as this space exists, this magic can continue.
However, the drawback is also obvious: I exist in the form of memories and cannot leave this place, so I spend most of my time sleeping.
Within this space, I can use magic, but my power is only a fraction of what it was in my previous life.
"How strong is it?"
"Barely at the level of Grand Archmage!"
"Hiss!"
Aaron gasped. If someone could possess the strength of Grand Archmage even after death, then this ancestor must have been Holy Magus in life!
"Then, ancestor, can you tell me..."
"Are you sure you want to know now?" Argus smiled meaningfully. "I know what you want to ask, but not knowing is one thing, knowing is another."
Aaron paused for a moment, then seemed to realize something, and his expression changed slightly.
"Never mind, I'll let you know when the time comes."
"A smart person."
"So tell me now, do you want to learn forging from me?"
"Well, let's just forget about it!" Aaron said, embarrassed.
"Um?
I'm giving you another chance to choose.
"Ancestor, let me explain."
Times have changed. No matter how powerful a forged weapon is, it can't compare to a Nuclear Bomb, so...
Aaron's voice trailed off as Argus's face darkened visibly.
"Junior, you are Warlock, and you wield the power of the mystical side."
While Muggle technology certainly has its merits, you've probably heard the saying, "The end of science is theology, and forging is one of the best shortcuts to theology."
Aaron hesitated for a moment, then shook his head. "I'm sorry, Ancestor, my plan is to reach the pinnacle without relying on external aids."
So, unfortunately.
"Another guy with wildly ambitious ideas." Argus crossed his arms. "Let me tell you, you won't lose out by learning forging, you won't be fooled by learning forging."
"I don't have that much time, really." Aaron declined again, albeit tactfully.
"I thought you were a smart guy!" Argus shrugged, then looked at Jeans. "Tell Vico that his son will be my apprentice from now on."
He has to learn it, whether he likes it or not.
Jeans paused slightly, gave Aaron an apologetic look, and then nodded weakly, "Yes, sir."
Aaron:...
This has a somewhat coercive or forced-sale feel to it.
"I disagree, this is not fair."
"No, this is fair," Argus said calmly. "You inherit my skills, and I will keep your secret. Is there a problem?"
"No!" Aaron gritted his teeth. "No problem."
"Then what should you call me?"
"Ancestor, no, teacher."
"That's right." Argus smiled smugly. "I know you might be a little unhappy, but I really can't bear to miss out on such a gem as you."
Learn more now, and you'll thank me later.
Of course, you don't have much time, and you can't learn all my skills, but how far you go on this path depends on yourself.
Aaron nodded as if he understood, then looked at Jeans and said, "The first elective course has been decided."
"Yes, there are still two courses to choose from."
"Then let's go quickly!"
"Wait a minute," Argus stopped the two of them. "This course is a required course, and I don't think little Aaron would mind taking another one!"
Aaron clenched his fist, then helplessly let it go.
It wasn't that he didn't want to commit insubordination; he simply couldn't win.
"I don't mind, of course I don't mind. It's because my ancestors think highly of me."
"A clever man." Argus smiled even more broadly, then waved his hand, and the door behind the Secret Chamber slowly opened. "Go, I've opened the second door for you. Come here to find me for one hour every day."
Aaron took a deep breath and eagerly headed towards the next door.
Jeans looked at Argus, hesitated, and said with some heartache, "Lord Argus, the young master is only a twelve-year-old child. I'm afraid he can't bear such pressure."
"I trust my judgment," Argus chuckled. "This guy is not as simple as you think. If this weren't my memory space, I wouldn't have been able to tell."
"Can..."
"No buts."
To be so shrewd at the age of twelve, the Gaius family certainly has a worthy successor.
All you have to do is trust him, and trust me.
"Yes, I understand." Jeans nodded heavily, then turned and walked towards the second door.
