"Just elemental skills?" Aaron said somewhat unconvinced. "Actually, I can learn other things too, the kind that can improve my combat power."

Before he could finish speaking, he was slapped on the head.

"Do you know what 'haste makes waste' means?" Weihert said seriously. "I admire your attitude towards learning, but you can't be too greedy. You can't bite off more than you can chew!"

"But I've spent the past year learning elemental Magic Array; I've almost mastered water, fire, earth, wind, and lightning."

Given enough time, I can manipulate not only ultimate Magic Array, but also Forbidden Magic Array and even the Abyss- level Magic Array with ease.

Therefore, I would like to ask you to teach me something else, such as summoning, teleportation, dismantling, and any other Magic Array that can temporarily boost my combat power.

Weihert paused for a moment, then smiled and shook his head. "Didn't I teach you all of this last year?"

"Ancestor, please don't try to fool me."

What you taught me last year was just some superficial stuff. After studying it, I found that it wasn't even a mid-level Magic Array.

In other words, summoning-type summons are somewhat usable, but the summoned creatures are also subject to certain limitations. Unless a contract has been signed, I need to expend some Magical Energy to summon them.

"Hmm..." Weihert pondered for a moment, "This is for your own good, and it's also the teaching experience I've accumulated over thousands of years. You're too weak right now, so learning elemental Magic Array is the best choice, because the elemental energy you summon will be under your control."

Upon hearing this, a string of question marks floated above Aaron's head.

"According to you, other Magic Array all have a certain degree of risk."

"That's natural." Weihert shrugged. "My fourth apprentice is particularly fond of summoning Magic Array, but he doesn't know that the creatures summoned by the summoner also have their own thoughts and will not obey the summoner's commands 100% unless the summoner has the power to suppress them."

When he was fourteen, he inscribed a supreme summoning Magic Array and summoned an Abyssal Demon comparable to a Grand Archmage. If I hadn't intervened in time, he might have been killed.

My thirteenth apprentice prefers sealing magic, and his talent is only slightly less than yours.

He was like you, begging me to teach him more advanced Magic Array. After careful consideration, I agreed to his request, but afterwards he almost sealed the entire castle, including himself, into another dimension.

Gollum!

"Did all these ancestors enjoy thrills so much?" Aaron couldn't help but swallow. "Wait, since you're so skilled with Magic Array, why didn't you stop them back then?"

"Sigh!" Weihert said, both proud and embarrassed. "Because these accidents have never happened to me, and I have complete control over every Magic Array I draw, I assumed they would too, but I never expected..."

I only discovered this over two hundred years ago, and apparently not everyone is like me.

There's nothing we can do; maybe it's just a difference in talent!

Aaron:...

What's with that strong Versailles tone?

More than two hundred years ago?

Even if you realized it too late, your heart is incredibly strong!

Weihert scratched his head, looking at his descendant and apprentice's bewildered expression, and felt somewhat embarrassed.

"In fact, it's not entirely my fault."

I am quite selective in choosing my apprentices; often, I only find one suitable among several generations of people.

In other words, it would take me decades, hundreds of years, or even longer to find a successor, and most of these successors would learn a few Magic Array that were passable and then give up on the subject. They never had any problems.

However, those who are truly dedicated to their studies and reach advanced levels will inevitably encounter unexpected events.

The intervals between these accidents were at least two hundred years; I even once thought that those few were the accidents themselves.

That idiot, what an idiot.

Aaron stared blankly at this white-haired, even somewhat kind-looking elder, and for the first time felt that the other party was so unreliable.

At the same time, he silently expressed his gratitude to the seniors who had paved the way for him. If it weren't for them, he would probably have been caught off guard as well.

"So you mean I can't learn advanced Magic Array other than Elemental Magic arrays until I'm able to withstand these risks."

"Pretty much!" Weihert didn't deny it. "Besides ability, a certain amount of talent is also required."

After all, there are far too many types of Magic Array, and not everyone can be as good as me in every aspect.

Aaron choked, and his eye twitched.

This ancestor really doesn't know how to be humble!

Although it's true, it still makes you want to punch someone.

"What a pity, I thought I could learn some Magic Array to improve my combat power during this holiday!" Aaron said with some regret. "Now it seems I can only proceed step by step."

"Do you have some misunderstanding about elemental Magic Array?" Weihert frowned slightly. "Elemental Magic Array used to be quite common, but in terms of destructive power, they are definitely among the top."

Moreover, most Warlock in the past could only master one to three types; you are already an extremely rare exception.

Aaron was somewhat dismissive. He had to use a move that would kill a thousand enemies but also inflict eight hundred casualties on himself to fight Tom Riddle, and he still almost lost.

Unless you can create a higher-level instant Magic Array, Magic Array won't significantly boost your combat power in a short period.

"You don't seem to believe it!" Weihert's lips curled into a playful smile. "How about we have a contest? I'll show you the brilliance of Magic Array circles."

"Don't be ridiculous, Ancestor." Aaron shook his head with a wry smile. "One look from you and Jeans is enough to make him gasp for breath. If I fight you, wouldn't that be just asking for trouble?"

"I won't bully you. You're a mid-level Magus, so I'll suppress my strength to the level of a mid-level Magus."

"That won't work either." Aaron became wary and refused very seriously. "Your combat experience is countless times greater than mine. Even if you suppress your strength, I have no chance of winning."

He's not stupid. His ancestor, Weihert, had said before that challenging opponents of higher levels was just commonplace for him.

Although he was somewhat confident in his own strength, he wasn't so confident that he could fight this ridiculously powerful ancestor in a low-level situation, unless he took back his Thought Form, or... he was out of his mind.

"Then how about I go down another rank, to beginner Magus?" Weihert tempted. "You can use any means necessary, including bringing your pet along."

Aaron's heart skipped a beat. With a Holy Dragon dragon involved... maybe they could win.

But he immediately dismissed the thought; Ancestor Weihert was clearly confident enough, otherwise he wouldn't have said that.

Moreover, winning would do him no good, while losing would just mean getting beaten up for nothing, which seemed like a losing proposition.

"Please forgive me for refusing," Aaron said calmly. "I will absolutely not fight with you."

Weihert raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but chuckle.

"Haha, you little guy are really interesting. I admire your rationality."

"Thank you for the compliment." Aaron showed no sign of displeasure; his fear was practically written all over his face, so it was perfectly normal for Weihert to see through his thoughts.

"Ancestor, you won't force me, will you?"

Aaron suddenly thought of this possibility, and his expression changed slightly.

If this ancestor were to attack him directly, he would be forced to retaliate.

"No, that method is too simple and crude." Weihert scoffed. "It's rare to find such an excellent successor. If I beat you so badly that you never come to this classroom again, I'll be at a huge loss. So it has to be your own choice."

"Mmm!"

Aaron nodded repeatedly, feeling a deep sense of relief.

However, the next moment, a red Magic Array flashed in Weihert's hand, and a thick, weathered book appeared in his hand.

"This is?"

"I have a notebook, which contains detailed records of various Magic Array abilities."

"While it can't compare to what I've mastered, it contains everything you need and desire," Weihert said calmly, his voice full of allure. "If you can defeat me, I'll give you this book."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Aaron's heart pounded uncontrollably as he looked at the ancient book with longing in his eyes.

"Ancestor, it's not that I don't trust you," Aaron said with a shy smile, "Can I inspect the goods first?"

"No problem." Weihert smiled meaningfully. "I've cast a spell on this book called the Forgetting Magic. No matter how bad your memory is, you won't be able to remember the contents."

Aaron was a little disappointed; he had originally planned to perform a live freebie act.

Write it down first, and learn it slowly later.

But now it seems he was overthinking it; this little trick simply won't work.

After taking the book Aaron couldn't wait to start flipping through it, but his expression soon became incredibly interesting.

In this book, the simplest Magic Array seems to be the one that is most easily described. Sealing, enchanting, decomposition, death, summoning, space, and even time are all described to some extent.

"Is this real?" Aaron's voice trembled, somewhat incredulous.

"Of course it's real." Weihert Silencio took the magic book. "But don't overthink it. This book doesn't record those exaggerated, Reality Stone- distorting magic spells; it's mostly theory and some basic applications."

"That's quite remarkable," Aaron stammered. "You should be able to rival the Founders of Gaius, right?"

"No." Weihert shook his head, speaking earnestly and devoutly, "I am far inferior to him."

Our ancestor was an unprecedented, and perhaps never-to-be-repeated, magician. My achievements are nothing compared to his.

"That can't be that exaggerated!"

"That's true. You'll understand once you meet him."

Hearing this, Aaron felt a little more confused. "Wasn't he dead for thousands of years?"

Weihert realized he had said too much and immediately explained, "I've been dead for over a thousand years, but you can still see me, can't you?"

"Uh...that's true." Aaron nodded. His dozen or so ancestors were able to retain their memories and survive, so there was no reason why the most powerful one couldn't.

"Is he in the secret Secret Chamber of his family?"

"You'll know this when your father returns," Weihert said meaningfully, then raised the magic book in his hand. "I've said enough. Now tell me if you'd like to have a match with me."
