Darwen's Eyes, the System's New Function
Lyon suddenly waved his Wand, and countless golden ancient runes formed chains that bound Aaron.
Aaron ignored them, letting them lock him up.
"I knew it would be like this." Aaron shrugged, his hands passing effortlessly through the chains before dissipating into particles of light.
"Illusion Magic? You think I can't see through it?" Lyon scoffed dismissively, then turned his gaze to the other side of the sofa.
Aaron reluctantly released the Disillusionment Charm from his body. "It seems my grandfather wasn't lying to me. The Darwin Family's eyes can indeed see through illusions."
"But we've known each other for over ten years, isn't it a bit much for you to suddenly attack me?"
Upon hearing this, Lyon's expression became extremely complex, a mixture of grief, indignation, helplessness, depression, and bitterness forming a bizarre mask.
"Aunt Lisana stayed at my house for half a month. She clearly told Clea that she would not be the only woman by my side in the future."
Wortefa...
Aaron stared in disbelief, his eyes wide, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
She's really my mother! How can she say something like that so casually?
"Is this an accident?" Lyon sneered. "It was because I heard this that I decided to bring out the ancestral Divine Artifact."
I'm already heartbroken that my sister is engaged to you, but I can grit my teeth and accept it, since this day was bound to come sooner or later.
But you can't go too far, can you? You're eating what's in your bowl while eyeing what's in the pot...
"Uh... excuse me for interrupting," Aaron said hastily. "That's what my mom said, but that's definitely not what I think."
"What you think is not important. What is important is that my mother did not object and even thought it was a matter of course."
Clea chose to accept it calmly; for her, as long as you have her in your heart, that's enough.
"Don't listen to her." Aaron swallowed hard. "How old is she? What does she know?"
"She knows the last five great literary works about love and marriage, and can write papers of tens of thousands of words." Lyon slammed his hand on the table in annoyance, then looked at Aaron with envy, jealousy and hatred. "Is this just for some childhood sweetheart, or is it possible that she's a heartless bastard?"
That's my own sister! Do you still think I went too far?
Aaron's eye twitched violently. "Maybe it's not too much...!"
Tsk tsk tsk!
How dare you use the word 'maybe'?
"Nonsense, I'm innocent," Aaron said defiantly. "First, I know nothing. This was all arranged by the previous generation."
"There are plenty of people who like me. Is it a crime to be charming?"
"I can empathize with that, after all, quite a few people like my little witch." A smug smile flashed across Lyon's face, but he became serious the next moment. "But it won't work for my sister."
Aaron:...
I must have lost my mind to try and reason with someone who's obsessed with their sister.
"Then why don't you object?" Aaron said with a wry smile.
"How can I object? Don't tell me you don't know your special circumstances?" Lyon retorted. "I might not be able to control you in this world, let alone in other worlds."
When I learned this secret, I was utterly shocked. An unpredictable journey to another world, with no fixed timeframe—who knows what you'll do during that time?
Aaron blinked, then awkwardly laughed and said, "Personally, I think my character is still trustworthy."
"You can trust me now, but what about later?" Lyon said emphatically. "People change. What if you spend a week or two in another world? Are you sure you can resist the temptation?"
Aaron hesitated for a few seconds, unsure how to answer.
"Look, you hesitated. You actually hesitated."
"Hesitation means I'm at least not going to give you the runaround." Aaron sat on the sofa, took a bottle of ale from Abei's pocket, and downed it in one gulp. "But don't worry too much, it's still far from settled!"
I'll stall for time; maybe she'll change her mind in a few days.
Lyon shook his head. "The Darwin Family have emotional intelligence far exceeding that of ordinary people. Clea never jokes about important matters."
"And... you should know that the Darwin Family might awaken supernatural abilities!"
"You mean?!" Aaron's eyes widened in astonishment. "She..."
"A glimpse into the future." Lyon sighed softly. "I don't know when she awakened. Perhaps it was destined when she first said she wanted to marry you when she grew up."
"Wait, wait, let me calm down." Aaron frowned, his mind reeling. After a long silence, he finally sat up. "What if, I mean, what if, she really was joking?"
"That's perfect." Lyon shrugged. "My attitude is neither approval nor disapproval. As for you... you'd better watch yourself!"
Aaron took a deep breath. "You know me. I don't believe in fate."
Believe it or not.
Lyon left after saying that. He had talked too much tonight, and if he kept going, he might not be able to control himself and have a friendly sparring match with his future brother-in-law.
"How could this be?" Aaron muttered to himself, an innocent and carefree smiling face involuntarily appearing in his mind. He quickly shook his head and banished the image from his mind.
Why think so much?
The future is full of uncertainties, so it's more important to live in the present.
Aaron took several deep breaths and carried Abei back to his bedroom.
However, he couldn't fall asleep while lying in bed, because the amount of information he had received today was just too much.
"Abei! Give me the Crystal Ball."
Abei immediately rummaged through his pocket and pulled out a crystal Crystal Ball.
Aaron sat up straight, placed the Crystal Ball on the bed frame, and began to concentrate on Divination.
Now he is only grateful that he took Divination when he was at Hogwarts. Although the future he gets may not be accurate, and with his current Divination skills he can't predict the future he wants to see, it can still be of some reference.
Gradually, the mist in the Crystal Ball was cleared away layer by layer, and the image became clearer. The silhouette of a woman slowly appeared in Aaron's pupils.
The next moment, Aaron shuddered and almost threw the Crystal Ball away.
He knew this person well; it wasn't Clea, but Adrian Klein.
He only saw a playful smile, an expression he remembered vividly; it was the same one Adrian had used before he was beaten when he was six.
Seeing this, Abei jumped in front of Aaron and asked, "Master, what did you see?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing." Aaron forced a smile, determined not to do any Divination until the scene he had just witnessed came true, otherwise his heart wouldn't be able to take it.
After stuffing the Crystal Ball into Abei's pocket, he thoughtfully examined the Young Dragon in front of him, a way to gain a sense of security beginning to take shape in his mind.
"Abei, your master, Aitian, has given you a picture of a beautiful older sister."
You must remember her well. If you see her, act cute and innocent, don't bare your teeth, and definitely don't upset her.
Abei nodded thoughtfully, then hesitated before extending a paw.
"Okay." Aaron flicked its head. "If you behave well, your food allowance will double; if you behave poorly, it will be cut in half."
Upon hearing this, Abei confidently puffed out his chest and indicated that there was no problem.
Now that it has evolved, it has three skills. Its innate abilities, besides flying, are to be cute. Making a pretty older sister happy is a piece of cake for it.
Aaron breathed a slight sigh of relief and lay back down on the bed.
"System, the upgrade should be finished by now!"
"Upgrade complete. The shop now has a new feature: complete sets of items can be purchased for a specified amount of Magic Points."
Aaron paused for a moment, thought for a second, and then understood the system's meaning.
Ten Ghost Mask make a complete set. If you were to randomly farm for them, it would probably take forever to collect ten masks. But being able to specify which masks to farm makes all the difference, saving a lot of Magic Points.
"A timely help!" Aaron exclaimed with delight. "Open the system shop."
[Magic Category: @Soaring (100 Magic Points, flight speed depends on individual strength); @Charm (500 Magic Points, literally, ineffective against those with strong will); @Astral Out-of-Body Experience (300 Magic Points); @Skybound; @Skybound]
[Material category: @;@;@;@;@]
[Item Category: @ Ghilani's Emerald (50 Magic Points, the person who obtains the gem will be plagued by misfortune); @Kong; @Kong; @Kong; @Kong]
Looking at the empty merchandise display, which was more than two-thirds full, Aaron's eye twitched. He felt that it was a bit too shabby.
Nothing much to say, just keep scrolling.
However, we need to test the ability to specify the spawn point in the Item Category.
Magic Category can be refreshed twice in one go, filling two empty item slots:
@Costume Change (100 Magic Points, directly equips pre-stored equipment in another space); @Seamless Undetectable Extension Charm (200 Magic Points).
All Material Category were refreshed once, and all five empty item slots were replenished:
@ Deep Sea Octopus Tentacle (5 Magic Points); @Seaweed (1 Magic Points); @Fire Crystal (200 Magic Points); @ Acromantula Venom (10 Magic Points); @Thunderbird Tail Feather (30 Magic Points)
As for Item Category, first buy Rajini's Emerald to add to the Divine Thunder Hall, then select a specific item slot to buy the Ghost Mask, and then buy all the items again:
@ Lazzo Mask (2500 Magic Points, the wearer can summon the Shadow Legion, Blade Legion. Note: Collecting ten masks grants control of the Shadow Realm); @ Mermaid's Tear (100 Magic Points, a priceless jewel); @Ordinary Longsword (3 Magic Points); @Tiger Talisman (1000 Magic Points, Yin-Yang balance); @Piano (5 Magic Points)
Aaron's attention lingered on the Lazzo Mask for a few seconds, then he thought about his less than double-digit Magic Points and could only lament that money is never enough.
Forget about Ghost Mask and talismans, which cost four figures, he couldn't even afford a three-figure magic item like a costume change.
As for the remaining magical materials and other items, he didn't consider them for the time being; either he couldn't afford them, or there was no need to buy them at all.
