The Chaotic Quidditch World Cup
Fudge stood at the very front of the box, under the spotlight, he pressed his Wand against his throat and used Amplification Charm to make his voice incredibly loud.
"Good evening. As Minister for Magic, I am honored to welcome each and every one of you to the final of the 422nd Quidditch World Cup. The match is now in session."
The 100,000 spectators erupted in thunderous cheers and applause, thousands of flags waved simultaneously, countless red and green balloons soared into the sky, and all the billboards were wiped away, replaced by a scoreboard showing Bulgaria: 0, Ireland: 0.
At this moment, Ludo Bagman, the director of the Department of Magical Games and Sports, stood on the stage as the host, introducing the two teams to the audience.
"Next, please allow me to introduce the Bulgarian national team's mascot... Veela."
As soon as the words were spoken, a bright red square formation appeared on the right, and amidst loud cheers, a hundred Veela glided onto the field.
Veela are Transfiguration female elves who retain a human appearance, possess innate allure, and are breathtakingly beautiful.
So the moment they stepped onto the field, the atmosphere was instantly ignited.
As the music started, they began to dance. Their graceful movements excited most of the men, making them want to dance along.
Harry and Ron unconsciously left their seats and walked forward with fascination in their eyes.
"You two finally didn't disappoint me." Adrian looked at his two calm and composed brothers and nodded with satisfaction.
"Who do you think you are?" Lyon curled his lip. "I've seen Merpeople are even more beautiful. Compared to them, Veela is nothing."
"I admit they're pretty, but I'm pretty confident in my self-control," Aaron said nonchalantly. "But to be fair, they're definitely the best cheerleading squad."
As the music stopped, Veela stopped dancing and slowly retreated to one side of the arena.
The people at the top gradually regained their senses and were pulled out of their seats by their companions.
Many Warlock who supported the Irish team threw their flags to the ground, and at that moment they preferred to support the Bulgarian team.
"Now... please raise your Wand into the air... to welcome the mascot of the Irish National Quidditch Team."
A green and gold sphere flew into the field, spun once, and split in two, each part hitting a set of goalposts.
Brilliant fireworks formed an arch between the two goalposts, with the two spheres connecting in the middle of the arch to form a clover pattern.
The clover spiraled upwards, scattering golden raindrops from the sky, and countless gold coins fell on the heads of the audience.
"Irish Leprechauns," Lyon chuckled, looking at the Leprechaun carrying golden and green lanterns in the sky. "Quite creative. These tangible things are more popular than dance."
Unfortunately, these gold coins were all fake, but the gold-obsessed people at the scene didn't seem to notice.
Ron, who was bending down to pick up gold coins, froze on the spot upon hearing this.
His mind went completely blank, and he felt so embarrassed he wanted to disappear into a crack in the ground.
The giant clover pattern quickly disappeared, and the Irish Leprechauns landed opposite Veela, ready to watch the match.
Next, Ludo Bagman introduced the Bulgarian players one by one.
The Beater, Chaser, and goalkeepers, all dressed in bright red robes, flew into the field one by one. They were incredibly fast, and each of their brooms was like the fastest Firebolt.
When the last Seeker, Viktor Krum, entered the field, the Bulgarian supporters couldn't help but chant his name, and even the Irish team supporters rushed in without hesitation.
If there are celebrities in the Warlock Magic World, Krum, the undisputed best Seeker, is definitely top-tier. He's the kind of person who gets autographs on the street, and Lockhart can't compare to him.
"Aaron, I heard you were a Seeker at Hogwarts. Are you confident you can go toe-to-toe with him?" Lyon asked meaningfully.
"Stop joking." Aaron rolled his eyes in annoyance. "This is their profession."
"So how long do you think you can last against him?"
"Hold on until Irish team wins," Aaron said confidently. He wasn't sure who could catch the Golden Snitch, but simply holding off Krum wouldn't be a problem for him.
"Now welcome the Irish team Quidditch national team to the field!" Ludo Bagman called out the names of the seven players in a loud voice. Seeker Lynch was placed last, but he received far fewer cheers and applause than Krum.
The Irish team wore green jerseys, and their Flying Broomstick were all made of Firebolt, making them evenly matched in terms of speed.
Next up was referee Hassan Mustafa, a short, thin Warlock with a completely bald head but a particularly thick beard. He was the chairman of the International Quidditch Association.
He walked to the center of the field, kicked open the wooden box, and a red Quaffle, a black Bludger, and Golden Snitch flew out one after another.
With a whistle, the competition officially began.
These players are all top-tier; their speed is outrageous, and their balance and coordination are exceptional.
Red and green figures flashed past the audience's eyes, and Ludo Bagman's commentary gradually fell behind their movements. He would only say one name before the person disappeared from sight.
Using a holographic telescope allows you to view the scene at a slower speed, but the downside is that you miss some of the more exciting parts.
Irish team scored first and maintained their lead, prompting cheers and shouts from fans wearing green.
As the game intensified, both teams' cheerleading squads began to come off the field.
The Leprechaun formed a clover pattern, and the Veela began to dance, Bulgaria team.
Krum pretended to have spotted the Golden Snitch, luring Lynch to do the same thing. In the last moment of their rapid dive, he smoothly ascended, while Lynch had a close encounter with the ground.
"The match is paused," Ludo Bagman said angrily, and asked the doctor to check Lynch's injury.
The audience discussed it enthusiastically, those with holographic telescopes watched the scene with great interest, while Krum took advantage of Lynch's treatment to search for the Golden Snitch.
The doctors at international competitions are much more professional. In less than ten minutes, Lynch stood up and returned to the competition venue.
Hassan blew his whistle, and the game started again.
Irish team's fighting spirit grew stronger, and in just over ten minutes, they surpassed Bulgaria by a point.
At this point, the game started to become dangerous. After all, fouls weren't forbidden in the Quidditch World Cup, but the methods they used to commit fouls were simply too obvious to be hidden from the audience.
Hassan Mustafa was initially quite good, allowing Irish team to take penalty kicks.
But when the Bulgaria another foul, the audience didn't see the referee. It wasn't until a field doctor rushed into the venue and slapped him that he snapped out of his reverie of the Veela's dance.
"Well played," Adrian laughed. "This kind of unreliable referee shouldn't have come in the first place."
"The charm skill is still useful!" Aaron murmured. This Veela made him realize the power of charm, which can sometimes be surprisingly effective.
"What did you say?" Adrian glared at Aaron. "Don't tell me you're going to learn this kind of magic."
"Uh..." Aaron felt a pang of guilt. "Is it not allowed?"
"Fine, I can't stop you from learning whatever you want, but learning this kind of magic is just a waste of time."
Charm magic has no effect on those stronger than you, nor on those with strong wills; at best, it can only deal with ordinary people.
"Sister, I'm not like you guys," Aaron said with an awkward laugh. "Maybe I'll be dealing with ordinary people."
Adrian paused for a moment, then, remembering the mission of the Gaius Family, said nothing.
"Take care of yourself! But don't take this too seriously."
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing," Aaron said with a smile. As long as he had enough Magic Points, he could master this kind of magic in no time.
The Veela were forced to stop dancing, and referee Hassan believed this would affect the competition. The Veela seemed somewhat dissatisfied, but they had to give in to the referee's wishes.
After this little incident, the competition entered its most intense phase.
Both Chaser started ramming people with their Quaffle, while the Beater went even crazier, swinging their bats at people whenever they had the chance.
Irish team suffered a lot during the process, with shouts of fouls echoing throughout the field. Hassan once again gave Irish team a penalty kick.
With their national team holding a significant advantage, the Leprechaun laughed excitedly and even taunted the Veela in their arrogance.
The Veela, seeing the giant middle finger the Leprechaun were giving, immediately abandoned any semblance of civility.
They stopped dancing, their heads transformed into sharp bird heads, and scaly wings sprouted from their shoulders, shooting out bursts of red flames to attack the Leprechaun.
"See, children," Mr. Weasley said meaningfully, "You can never just look at the surface."
"That's right." Lyon nodded in agreement, then added, "If you're going to pursue something, pursue a genuine appearance."
Arthur Weasley:...
That seems... impossible to refute.
"The battle between these two mascots is even more intense than the two Quidditch teams above," Aaron clicked his tongue. "If this continues, it might turn into a free-for-all."
"No, the Ministry of Magic will handle it," Hermione said.
Aaron and Lyon exchanged a smile. When the Ministry of Magic is reliable, it's more reliable than anyone else; when it's unreliable, it's less reliable than anyone else.
With over 100,000 Warlock in attendance, the Ministry of Magic had to be mindful of the impact even if it wanted to use force. This meant they could only appeal to their emotions and reason, which was destined to have little effect.
The arena gradually descended into chaos, with the match unfolding amidst the Veela's shrill screams, the cracking of Wand, and the roars and cheers of the fans.
The referee's voice was no longer relevant, as Hassan was stuck between the two mascots and couldn't get away. Ludo Bagman was able to provide commentary and host the event, but the situation would only worsen before a winner was decided.
