Send Out the Weakest First, or Let Everyone Rely on Their Own Skills
"Miss Delacour." Aaron looked at the aggressive Phoebe with a mixture of amusement and exasperation, and said speechlessly, "Could you please take a look at the Welsh Green Dragon in your hand before you say that? In some ways, the Welsh Green Dragon is easier to deal with than the Antipodean Opaleye Dragon."
"Looks like you didn't tell them," Adrian said with amusement.
"There's no point in telling them," Aaron said weakly. "Who would believe that a sister would want her brother dead?"
"That's a bit much. I never intended for you to die. I just wanted to unleash your potential."
"You are the pride of the Gaius Family; this little trouble will certainly not be a problem for you."
Aaron chuckled, his eyes filled with bitterness.
He was absolutely confident of winning the Golden Egg from a dragon, especially against Antipodean Opaleye Dragon.
However, according to Adrian's request, he had to be the last to pass through, which meant that he might have to face a monstrous Dragon.
This method of unleashing potential would leave another person utterly destroyed in no time!
Moreover, she had specifically reminded everyone that this was her first time participating in organizing such a large-scale event, and she didn't want any major accidents to happen.
That means that while he was completing his mission and fulfilling his requirements, he also had to protect the other four Champion and prevent them from suffering any serious harm. Wasn't that just bullying him, an honest man?
"Of course," Adrian added. "If you don't want to, that's fine too. Our agreement is null and void. You don't need to think about it. Just focus on dealing with that Antipodean Opaleye Dragon."
"I... I'll do my best!"
"Don't push yourself!"
"Not at all, not at all," Aaron said, against his will.
Not forcing? How could I not forcibly?
His original battle plan was only prepared to deal with a single dragon, but now the difficulty has increased several times, directly disrupting all his battle plans.
"What are you talking about?" Phoebe asked in confusion, and the others also looked puzzled.
"This is none of your business, Miss Delacour," Adrian said with a meaningful smile. "Besides, I can tell you very clearly that I will not help anyone cheat, not even my brother."
"Referee," Cedric asked, "If the Dragon can't leave the restricted area, can we team up to take Dragon down?"
"That's exactly what I'm going to talk about next."
Unless the fire Dragon is defeated by the Champion and leaves its restricted area, the other Champion cannot join forces to fight it, otherwise they will be penalized.
"Any more questions, Mr. Diggory?"
"There is none left."
"Good luck, Champion," Dumbledore said. "We'll go and maintain order in the hall first. You can enter when the cannon fire is heard. Each of you has been assigned a designated area."
After the referees left, Aaron sat slumped on the bed, pondering what he should do later.
A one-man showdown! Although those dragons are no match for Smaug, a fully grown Dragon is not easy to deal with. Without bringing out some trump cards, it's really not possible to get through this challenge.
"Everyone, now that you all know the rules," Aaron said after a long silence, standing up. "I think we need to make a plan, otherwise it will become more and more dangerous as we go on."
"What's the plan?" Cedric shook his head, not holding out much hope. "The most important thing about this project is speed. Only by getting the dragon Dragon Egg as quickly as possible can we escape unscathed."
One, a quarter, a third, a half, a... The first person to clear the level faces the least pressure, but the last person faces pressure twice that of the first, not even excluding injuries sustained during the process.
"It's less of a test of courage and more of an elimination round," Krum rarely spoke up. "The first two to pass are fine, but the last three will be in serious danger. What if those dragon tamers don't manage to control the situation in time..."
The atmosphere inside the tent instantly fell silent. Krum didn't finish his sentence, but everyone knew that this competition was exceptionally cruel for those ranked lower.
"Um..." Aaron raised his right hand and suggested, "How about we send out the weakest one first?"
"Are you talking about yourself?" Phoebe sneered. "You're not satisfied with just picking Antipodean Opaleye Dragon? You want to use us to help you pass the test?"
"Phoebe Delacour, just how deep is your prejudice against me!" Aaron rolled his eyes. "What I mean is, let's get Harry Potter out of here first."
"I?"
Harry pointed at himself, feeling annoyed at being looked down upon, but also a sense of hope growing within him.
He was never on the same level as the other four Champion. Although he didn't want to admit it, if he had been placed behind them, the chances of him dying would have been almost 100%.
"Don't doubt it, it's you. That Firebolt alone is not enough for you to deal with those dragons."
"And then what?" Phoebe sneered. "Will I help you beat the game again?"
"No." Aaron took a deep breath. "Then the strongest one should hold off the Tree Peak Dragon and cover the remaining three. Ideally, all three should take the Golden Egg at the same time, and the last one will have a chance to take the last Golden Egg before the three-headed dragon leaves the restricted area."
"The idea is good," Cedric said with a forced smile, "But it's not feasible."
Aaron, you must understand that everyone in this tent is an opponent, and there is little trust to be had on the field.
Your ideas can only be realized with close, seamless cooperation from your comrades.
"That's right," Krum said calmly. "Besides, I'm not that selfless; I wouldn't take such a big risk to cover your passage."
"Uh... you might have misunderstood something," Aaron said awkwardly but politely. "The one I meant by 'the best' is myself."
The group looked at each other, their faces filled with doubt.
"Are you kidding me?" Phoebe said indignantly. "You mean the three of us seventeen-year-old Warlock are no match for you?"
"Maybe that's the case."
"You... I've truly witnessed the arrogance of a Hogwarts student today."
"You must trust me, this is the best way, we can get through this with minimal cost."
"Gaius, it's not that we don't believe you," Cedric said stiffly, "It's that we simply can't believe you."
"We only know your age," Krum said in a deep voice. "We know nothing about your strength, character, or even your credibility. We can't possibly trust you because of some random plan."
"It's true," Harry said abruptly. "I can guarantee that Aaron's strength is no weaker than yours."
"Tch!" Phoebe sneered. "You're just speaking up for him, after all, this method is the most advantageous for you."
Send out the weakest one first; this is what makes us risk our lives to hold off our own Dragon until you defeat the Hungarian Horntail Dragon.
"But I'm telling the truth. Aaron's strength is among the best in Hogwarts."
"Harry," Cedric said, "This isn't Weasley twins prank. This tactic is dangerous, much more dangerous than Quidditch, and he can't even come up with a convincing reason for it."
"Fine!" Aaron exhaled slowly, reluctantly saying, "My sister, Adrian Klein, one of the six judges, requires me to be the last one to pass the test."
Is this reason sufficient?
As soon as he finished speaking, the other four Champion in the tent were all dumbfounded, and even Harry Potter was no exception.
"You're not kidding, are you?!" Cedric said incredulously. "She's your sister!"
"You don't understand her." Aaron gave a stiff, bitter smile. "My eldest sister has protected us siblings since we were little. She's been kinder to us than a mother. But her personality is rather strange and hard to understand."
Aside from the Quidditch World Cup, I haven't seen her for several years. This time, she's targeting me; she wants to see how much my true skill level has improved while she's been gone.
"This is absurd." Phoebe frowned. "A cephalopod for testing?"
"She's a referee, and a referee appointed by the International Confederation of Wizards, her status is extraordinary," Krum said meaningfully.
"I'm sure she won't watch me die."
She'd definitely be happy to see me in such a sorry state, and if anything unexpected happened, I'd be in real trouble.
"There's a problem," Phoebe asked Yu, "You can completely ignore this requirement."
"I can't tell you the reasons, but I have to try to meet her request." Aaron sighed slightly. "I've said everything I need to say. If you don't like my method, give me a straight answer."
After hesitating for a few seconds, Krum said, "Let's rely on our own abilities!"
I'm confident I'll be the first to get the Golden Egg; there's no need to take that risk.
"I don't want to join this plan either," Phoebe said sweetly. "We're all rivals in the Triwizard Tournament. Who knows if you'll use us to become the runner-up?"
Besides, even with my worst skills, I'd be in the top three, so... I won't risk my life with you guys.
Cedric shrugged and remained silent, his silence conveying his attitude.
"Let it be! I'm mentally prepared. It may be difficult, but so be it!"
"Are you really going to be the last one to finish?" Harry asked with some concern.
"I can't help it!" Aaron shrugged helplessly. "I have to ask for your help!"
But this isn't necessarily a bad thing for you; at least you won't be facing a one-against-one situation.
Harry gave an awkward laugh, then looked at the other three Champion, his forced smile quickly replaced by melancholy.
He couldn't possibly encounter a one-on-one fight, so a one-on-one duel was necessary. For whatever reason, only he could deal with that Hungarian Horntail Dragon.
Moreover, he is no match for the three Champion Cedric, Krum, and Phoebe. In the end, it will probably become a two-on-one fight between him and Aaron, two fourth-year Warlock, against a giant adult dragon.
This situation was much more difficult than a one-on-one duel, but he wasn't as worried. After all, he and Aaron had collaborated many times in the past few years, and Aaron was undoubtedly the best teammate.
Aaron, however, was on the verge of tears. He knew that what Harry could think of, he could think of too.
A terrible teammate, a fully grown Dragon, this level is even more ridiculously difficult than he thought.
