Charles guided his wheelchair over to Senator Kelly, who was lying in a hospital bed. "Senator Kelly, I'm Professor Charles Xavier."
Kelly gasped for breath. "I was afraid that if I went to the hospital, they would..."
"Treat you like a Mutant?"
Kelly paused, suddenly unsure of what to say.
"That concern is completely unnecessary," Aaron interjected at the worst possible moment. "You'll be dead before they can lay a hand on you.

Charles then entered Senator Kelly's memories. He saw the entire process of the experiment, Magneto's exhausted state after it ended, and what he said as Mystique helped him past the senator.
"Welcome to the future, brother."
"What did you see?"
"Danger. Extreme danger. I think I know what he wants Rogue for." Charles's expression was grave. "That machine gives off radiation that triggers mutations in ordinary humans."
"You're sure that's mutation?" Aaron glanced at Senator Kelly's vacant eyes with distaste. "This is clearly murder, and the kind you wouldn't commit without some deep-seated hatred."
"That's the problem. Erik knows the experiment succeeded and triggered mutations
