Background / History

Obito began as a Konoha School student who was late for registration and needed Rin Nohara's help. He was infatuated with Rin, jealous of Kakashi's talent and attention from her, and initially struggled to understand social cues. Despite his weakness, he intervened when senior students bullied Might Guy and was quickly defeated. 35

During the Third Shinobi World War, Obito protected Kakashi after Kakashi's left eye was injured. He was reportedly pierced through the heart, gave his left Sharingan to Kakashi, and was declared dead on the Kumogakure front. 238 247

Obito survived and was saved by Uchiha Madara, who groomed him as a successor for Madara's plans. A manipulated illusion in which Rin and Kakashi killed one another shattered Obito emotionally; he awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan, massacred Kirigakure shinobi, and abandoned Konoha. 249 266
