They were all ninja of the same generation. They could not exactly be called close friends, but they did have some connection and rapport.
"Obito! I'm looking for Hatake! I want to spar with him and see whether Kakashi or I am stronger."
After hearing that, Obito pointed him in a direction. "He's over there. Go take a look. He just came out, though he's probably a little tired right now."
Following the direction Obito pointed, Guy saw Hatake sitting on a platform near the tower, apparently resting.
Might Guy immediately ran over. "Hatake! Do you have time right now?"
Hatake raised his head and looked at Might Guy. "Ah, Guy. I don't have anything going on right now. Did you need something from me?"
Hatake had actually already guessed it. After all, in the Konoha of the other world, Guy had often sought him out for sparring matches. He was long accustomed to it.
"It's like this. I want to spar with you. I wonder if you have the time?"
Might Guy was much more restrained around Hatake. Just because he was close with Kakashi did not mean he was close with Hatake as well.
When asking someone for a sparring match under such circumstances, he needed to make a request.
Hatake thought for a moment after hearing this. "How about this? I'm really a little tired today. Why don't we arrange the match for tomorrow, at the Trial Tower?"
"You should go back and make your preparations too. Tomorrow, we'll give it everything we've got."
No one would die while fighting in the Trial Tower, so they could fight to the death and truly determine a victor.
However, people generally would not choose that option. Though it was virtual, the line between life and death felt very real.
