Some of the ninjas who had received Heaven Scrolls glanced indifferently at Feng Ye, but they had no interest in him. Their targets were the ninjas holding Earth Scrolls.
"Alright."
"The scrolls have all been distributed. Now follow the proctors to your respective entrances... In thirty minutes, everyone will enter the cave together!"
Shinku Yuhi stood with his hands behind his back and addressed the many examinees in a deep voice.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The Chunin proctors appeared before each team. After signaling to them, they led the different teams toward different directions.
The Chunin proctor leading Feng Ye was none other than Kakashi.
After bringing Feng Ye to Entrance Five, Kakashi opened the door and said, "The Hidden Mist Village and Hidden Cloud Village have both set their sights on you. Watch out for them working together."
"Also, there are surveillance systems everywhere inside the cave. The Jonin from the Hidden Mist Village and Hidden Cloud Village, along with our Konoha examiners, will be monitoring everything from the central watchtower. Lord Hokage will probably go there as well."
Knowing Feng Ye's strength, Kakashi was naturally not worried about his safety. No one could possibly defeat Feng Ye in a one-on-one fight, but if multiple opponents worked together, he still needed to give him a warning.
After all, Feng Ye probably had no experience fighting multiple people at once.
"Don't worry."
Feng Ye looked at Kakashi and smiled faintly. "If you were fine, why would I have a problem?"
Kakashi's mouth twitched.
That remark irritated him greatly, yet it was perfectly reasonable, leaving him unable to refute it.
Very soon.
The second round of the Chunin Exams was announced to begin. Kakashi nodded to Feng Ye, who then entered the examination grounds.
At almost the same time, two ninja teams from the entrances closest to Feng Ye headed in his direction as soon as they entered.
"That kid went through Entrance Five, right?"
"Either Five or Four. In any case, this is the right direction."
Inuzuka Tsume raced at the front, her eyes flickering, with a ninja hound closely following beside her.
Feng Ye might have had some confidence to dare enter the Chunin Exams alone, but compared to the other three-man teams, he was obviously the easiest target.
Aburame Shibi followed behind and said gravely, "I don't think we need to choose him. He's Kakashi's brother, so he may have some other tricks... Besides, he's also a Konoha ninja. Choosing someone from Kusagakure might be more appropriate."
"What are you talking about?"
Inuzuka Tsume glanced at Aburame Shibi and snorted. "If he doesn't have the strength, then he isn't qualified to become a Chunin. Since he dared to enter alone, wouldn't it be better to eliminate him early if he lacks the ability? It's better for us to take his scroll than for the Cloud or Mist ninjas to get it."
Aburame Shibi shook his head. "My instincts tell me it's best not to choose him."
"Your bugs' instincts?"
Inuzuka Tsume spoke disdainfully. "Kuromaru, tell him what your instincts say."
Kuromaru: "Awoo!!"
A hint of a smile appeared on Inuzuka Tsume's face. "Kuromaru says we fight. Compared to your bugs, I trust his instincts more."
"..."
Aburame Shibi frowned slightly and stopped arguing.
Though he felt Feng Ye might not be easy to deal with, it was only an instinct. Since Inuzuka Tsume and Kuromaru had both made that judgment, he could not let the team fall apart over it.
Not long afterward.
The group arrived along Feng Ye's route.
After Kuromaru's nose twitched a few times, he immediately found the direction Feng Ye had gone. He barked several times, then swiftly ran in one direction.
"Found him!"
Seeing this, Inuzuka Tsume and Aburame Shibi's group immediately followed. They raced through the rocky cave terrain, tracking Feng Ye behind Kuromaru.
The three continued tracking him for a long distance. Then Kuromaru abruptly stopped, lowered his voice with a soft growl, and sent Inuzuka Tsume a message.
"He's right ahead."
Inuzuka Tsume immediately understood and signaled to Aburame Shibi and the others.
They quickly split apart and rushed up the nearby hills, closing in from the left and right. Before long, they saw a figure below the hills.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!!!
Inuzuka Tsume and the other two landed almost simultaneously, surrounding Feng Ye in the middle.
Yet after landing, the three did not attack at once. Instead, expressions of surprise appeared on their faces, because Feng Ye was not the only person there!
Several figures lay on the ground to Feng Ye's left and right. They could be identified as ninjas from another team. Feng Ye was calmly searching them, and he found a scroll on one of them.
"Those three... you took them down?!"
Inuzuka Tsume looked at Feng Ye in surprise.
Though she did not know the strength of the three who had been defeated, they were still a three-man team. Feng Ye had taken down all three by himself. Could Aburame Shibi's instincts have been right? Was he truly an extremely troublesome opponent?!
"Yeah. I didn't want to bother with them at first, but they chased me too closely."
Feng Ye put away the Earth Scroll and glanced at Inuzuka Tsume's group. "Are you three planning to steal my scroll too?"
"..."
Inuzuka Tsume did not answer immediately. A flicker of wariness passed through her eyes.
However, Aburame Shibi, standing nearby, spoke in a deep voice. "Attack! He just went through a battle. Don't let him stall for time to recover!"
Aburame Shibi, who had initially opposed making Feng Ye their target, instead saw an opportunity now. He attacked decisively, sweeping his hand forward as a black cloud of insects surged toward Feng Ye.
Inuzuka Tsume immediately came to her senses as well.
That brat had nearly bluffed her!
"Beast Mimicry Ninja Art! Fang Over Fang!"
With Inuzuka Tsume's low shout, woman and hound crossed in midair and began spinning like drills. Centered on Feng Ye's position, they tore through the air toward him.
Feng Ye swept an expressionless glance over them.
Whoosh!
In the next instant, his entire figure abruptly vanished. He was far faster than Inuzuka Tsume's Fang Over Fang, streaking toward Aburame Shibi like an afterimage.
Aburame Shibi's expression changed sharply. He hurriedly spread his hands, sending out a black cloud of insects in an attempt to block Feng Ye's attack. But Feng Ye's speed was so fast that it was beyond belief. In a single flash, he bypassed the insect cloud and appeared behind him.
"This speed... how is that possible?!"
The pupils behind his sunglasses contracted violently. At this point, he no longer had time to do anything.
The White Fang in Feng Ye's hand slashed past.
Slash!
Though the insects blocked some of the blade's edge, the strike still cut across his back. A sharp pain erupted from behind him, and amid spraying blood, he fell to the ground.
"Shibi!"
Inuzuka Tsume was horrified at the sight.
She vaguely understood how Feng Ye had defeated a three-man team. This kind of speed was not something a Genin could possess at all. It was almost unbelievable!
Whoosh!
In the next moment, Feng Ye turned into an afterimage again and charged toward Inuzuka Tsume.
Another simple exchange followed, and Inuzuka Tsume was severely wounded and fell to the ground as well. The last person tried to flee, but Feng Ye had no intention of letting him go. His ninja blade flashed again, leaving him gravely injured.
"There is a price to pay for making the wrong choice..."
Feng Ye turned to look at the six people lying on the ground.
All six were Konoha ninjas, so he had not killed them. He had only rendered them incapable of fighting. After all, having made the wrong choice, they could not simply be let off. Enemies on the battlefield would not be merciful, so if they wanted to become Chunin, they would have to try again next time.
"I was delayed a little, but it shouldn't matter much."
After putting away the scrolls, Feng Ye looked toward the center of Death Rock Cave. Muttering to himself, his figure swiftly disappeared.
