Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as the son of the village blacksmith, Tang Hao. Even as a child, he displayed unusual maturity, exceptional agility, and the ability to manage the household, preparing porridge before climbing the mountain each day. Tang Hao was largely neglectful and spent his days drinking, while village elder Old Jack showed Tang San greater care. 145

His soul originated from beyond the heavens and replaced the child born to Tang Hao and Ah Yin. Tang Hao noticed abnormalities in Tang San's behavior from early on, but only became more attentive after Tang San awakened both the Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer Martial Souls. 747

Tang San later joined Shrek Academy, where he formed close ties with Dai Mubai, Oscar, and the other students. He intervened when Yan crippled Dai Mubai, but his hidden weapons and movement techniques proved ineffective against Yan's fire abilities and superior combat skill. 316 317

Yan publicly exposed Tang San's Twin Martial Souls at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. He further claimed that Yu Xiaogang's animal-type Soul Ring plans had damaged Tang San's still-unawakened Blue Silver Grass and prevented it from developing its innate domain. 349 350

After Tang Hao rescued him from Spirit City, Tang San spent a year fleeing Spirit Hall. The pursuit hardened him, leaving him gray-haired, cold, and driven by hatred. He improved his hammer techniques, obtained a fifth Soul Ring, and entered Slaughter City on Tang Hao's instruction. 424 425

Tang San emerged from Slaughter City as a God of Slaughter and attempted to deceive Yan, Bibi Dong, and Hu Liena before launching an assassination attempt. When Yan offered to spare him in exchange for his unique techniques and submission to Spirit Hall's supervision, Tang San refused. Yan absorbed his Blue Silver Emperor power and burned him to ash with the Inner Earth Red Lotus. 456 457

Appearance

Tang San first appears as a young boy from Holy Soul Village, small enough to use a stool at the stove but physically capable of crossing rough mountain ground in strides nearly a zhang long. 145

  • Later wore half a mask while concealing his identity after leaving Slaughter City. 456
  • His year of pursuit left his hair mottled gray-white and his eyes bloodshot. 425
  • Manifested eight purple-black spider lances from his back when activating his External Soul Bone. 421

Personality

Tang San is protective of his companions and willing to confront stronger opponents for them. He stepped in against Yan to protect Dai Mubai and remained focused on finding a way to counter dangerous enemies, including Dugu Yan's poison. 316 421

He is confident in the superiority of his Tang Sect knowledge and techniques, initially believing Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to be nearly impossible to defeat through skill alone. His failures against Yan forced him to confront the limits of that confidence. 317

Following Spirit Hall's pursuit, Tang San became increasingly hardened and resentful. Even when Yan offered him survival in return for his skills, he chose defiance over compromise. 425 457

Abilities & Skills
