Background
Li Mu awakens after a lightning strike with the memories of the body’s original owner, also named Li Mu. The original Li Mu was the neglected second son of Qinglan City’s foremost family: a sixteen-year-old with no cultivation, a reputation as a pleasure-seeking wastrel, and a father estranged from him after his mother died giving birth to him. Li Mu resolves to remake that life rather than continue it. 1
Although dismissed as a prodigal, the original Li Mu had not been wholly cruel. Lin Qingzhu recalls that he avoided exploiting women at pleasure houses and quietly aided poor residents of Qinglan City’s northern slums. 2
His new life is shaped by the Simulation System, which grants access to a shop, talent upgrades, quests, storage, and later a smelting function. He spends his initial five Talent Points on Novice Spirituality, dramatically improving his comprehension and allowing him to grasp the Li Family Sword Style at an exceptional pace. 2 3 24
Personality
Li Mu is determined to prove that he is no longer the idle young master people expect. He accepts Li Yue’s seemingly impossible three-day challenge, persists through cultivation bottlenecks, and repeatedly risks himself against opponents far above his realm rather than concede. 3 32 187 211
He combines pride with practical calculation. In battle, he studies opponents, feigns weakness when useful, exploits equipment effects, and is willing to make shrewd demands after winning respect. 23 24 187
Despite his ambition, he is protective of his companions. He prioritizes Nie Xiaoyu’s treatment when she is injured, shields Lin Qingzhu from danger, and later recognizes that he does not need to bear every burden alone. 58 144 216
Abilities & Skills
Simulation System
Li Mu’s primary advantage is a mysterious system that supplies resources, quests, storage functions, and talent enhancements.
- Novice Spirituality — He invests all five initial Talent Points into comprehension, enabling him to cultivate sword intent in half a day and accelerate his study of cultivation techniques. 3 4
- Novice Immortal Body — Enhances body refinement; five Talent Points bring his flesh refinement to physical Perfection. 126
- Novice Potential — Expands his meridians, allowing him to refine and circulate greater amounts of power. 170
- Critical Strike — An active talent that doubles the power of his next attack. At Level 2, its cooldown is reduced to four days. 66
- Warehouse and Smelting Systems — The warehouse allows concealed storage and retrieval of supplies, while the smelting function can combine lower-grade materials into stronger resources. 6 24 89
Heavenly Origin Art / Innate Art
The Li Family’s ancestral cultivation method is the foundation of Li Mu’s development. Initially believed to be merely Yellow-tier, its known mantras are revealed to possess at least Earth-tier potential, with the complete scripture possibly reaching Heaven-tier. 62
- Establishes a durable cultivation foundation and improves the output of Li Family sword techniques. 32 65
- Produces and refines Pure Yang power after Li Mu survives the effects of the Pure Yang Sky Burning Pill. 45 55
- Allows him to suppress his aura and conceal his cultivation more effectively than ordinary methods. 404
- Its advanced circulation supports his Pure Yang Nascent Soul and lets him wield techniques above his nominal realm. 237 310
Li Family Sword Style
Li Mu’s primary sword art is the ten-form Li Family Sword Style, created by his father, Li Yubai. Its fundamentals emphasize speed, direct thrusts, slashes, and chops rather than ornamental techniques. 4 24
- Masters the first three forms and releases Sword Qi, defeating Li Bo and Li Zhan. 5
- Uses the basic three stances to suppress the stronger Nangong Qi in their academy duel. 24
- Learns advanced forms including the sixth form, Heavenly Net, and the seventh form, Sword Qi Soaring. 160 186
- Eventually executes the tenth form, Myriad Swords Returning to Origin. 310
- Creates Spirit Luan Phoenix Cry, a self-created sword move that kills an Immeasurable Realm opponent in one strike. 311
Nine Swords of Vermilion Bird
A highly compatible Profound-grade sword art fueled by Li Mu’s Pure Yang energy and strengthened body. 310
- Fire Phoenix Attendant — The sixth sword, which manifests a phoenix of Pure Yang Sword Qi and can exert half-Immeasurable power. 290 310
- Can be combined with Li Family Sword Style principles to produce more powerful self-created techniques. 328
- Its sword qi later becomes a recognized threat during battles against the Blood organization. 541
Body Refinement
Li Mu cultivates both Qi and body, giving him unusually strong physical resilience for his age.
- Reaches muscle-and-tendon refinement and withstands Liu Chong’s attacks despite being vastly lower in realm. 185 187
- Possesses the foundation of bone refinement, though he acknowledges that he initially lacks specialized body-cultivation martial skills. 310 381
- His strengthened body, wide meridians, and Pure Yang energy allow him to survive temporary access to power beyond the Core Formation Realm. 165 170
Alchemy and Commerce
Li Mu studies alchemy both as a means of breaking cultivation bottlenecks and as a source of cultivation resources.
- Reaches Mortal Grade One in alchemy and later advances to Mortal Grade Three. 34 275
- Refines Qi Replenishing Pills efficiently and learns to improve control by processing multiple ingredients simultaneously. 35
- Creates Qinglan Noblewoman Cream, a beauty product that becomes a sensation in Qinglan City and earns more than 500,000 Cangyun Coins in one week. 11 12
- Uses the cream’s profits to support poorer Profound Tier Class students’ cultivation rather than maximizing sales. 12
- Sells 100 top-grade Qi Replenishing Pills in Lishui City for 310,000 Cangyun Coins. 91
Equipment
- Shadowless Sword — His first system-purchased weapon; a black meteorite-iron longsword valued by Li Mu as at least a low-grade Yellow-tier immortal artifact. 4 24
- Starfall Sword — Later primary sword, used with Critical Strike against Liu Chong and in large-scale warfare. 187 340
- Ancient Thorn Armor — Defensive armor with the skill Retaliation, which absorbs attacks and returns force to the attacker. 24
- White Tiger Glazed Gauntlets — High-level magic treasure purchased from the system shop. 11
- Marauder Wisteria Armor — High-level magic treasure purchased from the system shop. 11
- Radiant Mercury Belt — High-level magic treasure purchased from the system shop. 11
- Shadow Cloak — Conceals his movements and aura, though it cannot evade Su Fenqiao’s perception. 404
- Jin Fu Xuan thumb ring — Given by Ruo Lan; grants him authority to mobilize Jin Fu Xuan resources. 175 180
- Spiritual jade pendant — A parting gift from Mu Bai containing spiritual energy. 71
Relationships
- Li Yubai — Father and Qinglan City’s City Lord. Their relationship begins distant due to Li Mu’s birth being tied to his mother’s death, but Li Mu later seeks to clear his father’s name. 1 175
- Li Yue — Elder brother. Initially blocks Li Mu’s academy enrollment, then becomes an adviser and protector who intervenes when Nangong Qi threatens Li Mu. 3 26 33
