Sandaike's Trial
"Roy, I've been trying to find the exact location of that treasure lately. You know I can't convince Jasper, so I'm hoping you can help me persuade Jasper!"
Abbott leaned against the gatehouse, his eyes pleading.
Roy was in a bit of a dilemma because Jasper had made it clear that he did not support Abbott's adventure.
"Um... Of course we all support your search for this treasure, Abbott. You should also know that the Endless Sea is full of dangers. Besides the Naga Sea Clan, there are even more dangers from the Deep Sea Magic Beast in the unknown waters. In addition to finding a safe route, we also need to obtain permission from the Naga Sea Clan along the way. However, this will take some time and we need to communicate with them slowly. Moreover, I have only just begun to study navigation. It will take at least a few more years to complete this part of my studies. I can try to persuade Jasper to support you, but the premise is... we need to be prepared."
Roy was actually quite speechless; he hadn't expected that Abbott would still think of this Treasure Map at a time like this...
However, this is not an excessive request.
Roy hesitated for a moment, then said to Abbott:
"Abbott, promise me, no matter what, never take any risks without being fully prepared!"
"Okay! Got it."
He responded in a low voice.
If it weren't for the quiet of the night, Roy probably wouldn't have been able to hear what he was saying at all...
The last glimmer of hope in Abbott's eyes was extinguished.
He turned and sat down in the chair in the gatehouse, looking resentfully at the thick stack of nautical charts on the table. He grabbed the pages of the parchment notebook with one hand and ripped the cover off.
Watching Roy leave, the undisguised fervor in his eyes was like two inextinguishable flames.
Roy didn't go straight home. Under the bright moonlight, he walked to the Da Nei River Cross Street Intersection at the crossroads.
Looking at the gently flowing Da Nei River, Roy felt that the world was like a seven-colored glass, full of wonder and mystery.
He stretched out his palm, and a ray of holy light gathered, like a candle flame.
Roy waited quietly until Jillian appeared on Brown Street pushing a flatbed cart.
He jumped down from the railing and stood on the roadside, speaking to Ms. Jillian was pushing a flatbed cart:
"Ms. Jillian, thank you so much for your help. If it weren't for you, I might have been drowned in the sea by Yudora."
Ms. Jillian stopped, straightened up, and looked at Roy with a puzzled expression:
"You stayed up all night waiting for me just to say these things?"
"I just wanted to thank you in person," Roy replied sincerely.
Ms. Jillian rolled her eyes, looked away from Roy, and continued pushing the cart forward step by step, saying, "Alright, I accept your thanks. Can I go to sleep now?"
Roy quickly stepped aside, then came over to help Ms. Jillian push forward.
Ms. Jillian didn't stop until she reached her front door.
She bent down and tossed two Blue Mackerel and a tuna tail from the flatbed cart to Roy, then scolded Roy sternly, "These are your fish. Don't be so forgetful in the future."
"Knew."
Roy, carrying the fish, stood in front of the gate and watched as Ms. Jillian pushed the cart into the yard before turning around and going home.
Castleton City seems to have no secrets that last overnight.
Roy, carrying a history textbook, boarded the Long Carriage with Sabrina, only to hear the Half-Elf inside discussing the capture of the pirates Relf and Yudora.
In an instant, many old stories from many years ago were unearthed by the elves.
I spent the morning in class at the Elf Academy.
After the first lesson, Instructor Nora asked Roy for more details about Benjamin.
Roy had only seen Benjamin once before, on the Back Street of the college, and that was a few days ago.
Afterwards, Instructor Nora and several other instructors took advantage of the fact that they had no classes in the afternoon and went to walk through all the shops on the Back Street with a portrait of Benjamin.
Actually, it doesn't seem to matter whether that portrait exists or not.
Boss Magic Shop had a strong impression of this human mage who Elven Language.
I even remember that he bought several Magic Herbs at the shop and also purchased several bundles of Magic Scroll. It is said that the Benjamin the Mage's pockets were full of Magic Crystal Stone, and he bought Magic Scroll almost by the bundle. He was incredibly wealthy.
Unfortunately, even knowing that the Benjamin the Mage had appeared in the Magic Shop in the Back Street of the academy, the instructors still couldn't find Benjamin the Mage.
Instructor Eleanor even visited some old trees on the Back Street, but she was still unable to find Benjamin's whereabouts with their help.
As a result, Instructor Nora was depressed for several days.
When Roy returned to the Goddess of Freedom Temple, Jasper told him that everyone would continue to go to the courthouse over the weekend to attend the trial of the Priest Sandike.
Roy thought about the Elder Council Tribunal Relf and Yudora might also be tried...
After returning from the Malaga Jungle, I spent four consecutive Sundays in the courthouse, which is quite absurd.
Remembering what Abbott had asked him to do last night, Roy decided to have a good talk with Jasper.
"Jasper, Abbott approached me last night and asked me to speak with you."
"Roy, what are you thinking?"
Jasper looked up and stared at Roy as he asked.
Roy hesitated for a moment, then said tactfully:
"I support your point of view, but I'm worried he might get stuck on a nitpicking issue."
"Ignore him and let him reflect on his actions."
After Jasper finished speaking, he opened the Holy Prayer on the round table.
It seemed that Jasper was unwilling to compromise at all, so Roy could only sigh softly and stop talking.
In the past two days, no one had touched the security measures Jasper had set up on the Black Pearl, so the two decided to go back to the ship in the afternoon to take another look.
Since Captain Relf and Madam Yidula ran aboard the ship, Roy and Jasper had never been back.
Sunday arrived in the blink of an eye.
There has been no further news from Ms. Belinda.
Roy got out of bed early, ate breakfast, and then went to the Goddess of Freedom Temple. He followed High Priest Reed to the Elder Council Tribunal.
The area outside the courthouse was filled with Half-Elf.
During the trial of Priest Sandike, even Heroes Square was filled with many Half-Elf.
This was Roy's third visit to the Castleton Elder Council ' courtroom; he had been coming almost weekly lately and had become quite familiar with the stepped building.
High Priest Reed and Roy were seated towards the back. Three priests of the Moon God Temple sat in front of the judgment platform. Opposite the three priests sat three librarians, two of whom Roy had seen before.
The outer perimeter of the courthouse was filled with Half-Elf.
Roy didn't have to wait long before the trial officially began.
The Priest Sandike was brought up by two Elven Guard.
He is no longer a priest of the Moon God Temple. The Moon God Temple has stripped him of his priestly robes. He is only wearing a dirty shirt, with bare legs and bloodstains on his shorts. His face is haggard, and his eyes are even somewhat empty.
He was almost identical to the Priest Theodore.
Roy felt that his recent life was truly indescribable...
The first to be tried were the sailors of the Golden Tangerine, followed by Priest Theodore, then Priest Sandaike, and next week the Gray Dwarf Relf will be tried.
These prisoners on trial all seemed to have some connection to him.
It is said that the Elder Council' court has not been this busy in a long time.
The presiding judge was still the Old Elf with a face full of wrinkles. He held a scepter in his hand, approached Sandaike, and slowly asked him:
"Silver Moon Elf Sandaike, do you admit to killing the Half-Elf Pelius on the afternoon of July 8th?"
Sandaike shuddered violently, then immediately replied in a low voice, "I confess, I killed Pelius."
The Half-Elf in the courthouse was in an uproar.
The Arbitration Committee, especially those sitting at the very top, all wore expressions of disbelief.
Just last week, the presiding judge asked Priest Theodore the same question here.
The Priest Theodore also admitted to killing the Half-Elf Pelius.
"Sandaike, please recount the details of how Pelius was murdered."
Sandaike's ashen eyes seemed to be savoring some beautiful memory.
Roy felt that this guy's mind had become extremely twisted.
When he opened his mouth, Roy noticed that his teeth were stained with blood.
"That afternoon it was raining, and there were almost no pedestrians on the street. I went to the Lower District to find Pelius. I guessed he would take advantage of the rain to go home and visit his family. Sure enough, just as I guessed, I cornered him in an alley near his house. I first took the Wisdom Holy Grail from him, then shot him with a crossbow and dumped him next to the drain."
His voice was deep, and he deliberately drew out his words.
After he finished speaking, a cold wind seemed to blow through the entire courtroom.
The Arbitration Committee were whispering amongst themselves.
The presiding judge floated back to Sandaike and asked him:
"Was there no one else present when you killed Pelius?"
Sandaike hesitated for a moment, his bloodshot eyes glancing upwards, then he said in a hoarse voice:
"No."
The courtroom erupted in uproar once again.
Because around this time last week, Priest Theodore of the Goddess of Freedom Temple was sentenced to prison for killing Pelius.
Now that Sandaike has overturned this claim, it will undoubtedly cause the elves attending the trial to question the proceedings.
"Please be quiet, everyone."
The presiding judge addressed the elves in the surrounding courtroom.
Once the surroundings quieted down, he asked Sandaike again:
"How do you know the Wisdom Holy Grail is in Pelius's hands?"
Priest Sandaike grinned, looking like a demon from hell.
Roy and High Priest Reed exchanged a glance, both wanting to hear what he had to say...
