Final Exams
On the Training Ground Training Ground the Elf Academy, everyone watched as the Silver Moon Elf slunk away, and some elves who had wanted to cause trouble immediately gave up the idea.
Roy and Klayr exchanged bewildered glances, surprised that Instructor Nora was so ruthless, disqualifying anyone caught from the exam.
Klayr wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and whispered to Roy:
"It's a good thing you stuck to your principles just now, otherwise I would have ended up like Steve, having to retake the Elementary Martial Arts Training, which would have been really embarrassing!"
"Hey, Wagner Klayr, it's fine for you and Roy to talk, but stop bringing my name into it all the time..."
Steve emerged from behind Klayr, his face dark, and spoke to Klayr.
Klayr was startled by Steve. Steve and Adams were standing together, and it seemed that they had just arrived and had not yet signed in with Instructor Nora.
Why did you two take so long to arrive?
Klayr wasn't embarrassed at all; instead, she greeted Steve familiarly.
Although Klayr and Steve had some past grievances, after they fought in the arena, all those grudges were wiped away, and they actually made up.
Occasionally, the two would attend balls held by Elven Nobles together.
This was something Roy couldn't understand: Shouldn't the two of them, even if they weren't mortal enemies, have never spoken to each other in the next few years?
Klayr stood in front of Steve and asked him, "Steve, was the strength test last year about chopping wood?"
Steve shook his head, thought carefully for a moment, and then said:
"It was a weighted run, with each student dragging an iron chain and a stone ball tied to the back of the chain."
Klayr found the thought terrifying; it seemed even easier than chopping logs.
Roy seized the opportunity to ask, "Are the questions for this test different every year?"
Standing next to Steve, Adams replied, "Actually, there are only a few types."
Instructor Nora beckoned Steve and Adams to come over and sign in.
Roy and Klayr lined up at the Obstacle Course, still in pairs, and easily completed the Obstacle Course.
Klayr and Roy reached the finish line almost simultaneously after running the entire course.
There are clear differences between the two when they run and jump over obstacles.
Klayr is the kind of person who is so light in the air that she can easily lift herself up with her hands and step over obstacles...
Roy, however, was slightly clumsy and needed more skill to compensate for his lack of agility. But his explosive power was greater, and he could quickly catch up after each obstacle jump...
Both of them gave it their all in this test.
The two walked breathlessly toward the third physical fitness test area, where twenty smooth pillars stood, each about as thick as an adult's thigh.
The pillar is less than three meters high and has a layer of varnish on its surface, making it very slippery.
Twenty elf students are taking a test, their hands and feet tightly gripping the pillar, and they need to hold on for 35 minutes.
When the two walked over, this round of testing was almost over.
The elves were clearly quite adept at climbing trees; everyone clung to the pillar, gritting their teeth and trying to stay afloat...
Klayr stood in the waiting area and whispered to Roy, "Roy, I feel like you're not only running much faster than before, but your coordination and balance have also improved a lot..."
Roy said calmly, "Isn't the purpose of martial arts training to improve oneself?"
"..."
"Klayr, Roy, are you two going to participate in this round of testing?"
A teaching assistant standing under the wooden pillar shouted at Roy and Klayr.
"Coming right away..."
Klayr quickly agreed.
After saying that, he and Roy walked to the two pillars.
Seeing that all the students were ready, the teaching assistant had them climb up the pillar and then hug the slippery wooden pillar tightly.
The timer has started...
The third test was Klayr's forte; Klayr, clinging to the pillar, could easily chat quietly with Roy.
Roy dared not speak. He could only try to slow his breathing and tense all his muscles, hugging the pillar tightly with both hands, like a koala clinging to it.
This test of endurance is not only a test of students' stamina, but also their willpower.
At first, Klayr could chatter on and on with Roy, but after only fifteen minutes, Klayr had to shut up and begin the long ordeal of hugging the wooden pillar.
Klayr didn't jump down from the pillar until a whistle blew and the teaching assistant announced the end of the test.
Roy clung tightly to the pillar, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
He practically slid off the pillar, his muscles aching and stiff all over...
The two successfully completed the three physical fitness tests for the Elementary Martial Arts Training, which officially kicked off the final exams.
As for the martial arts assessment on the second day, Instructor Nora randomly selected some Elementary Martial Arts for the students to complete. As long as they performed them skillfully and smoothly, they would be considered qualified. There was no actual combat test.
Klayr performed exceptionally well in the Elementary Martial Arts exam.
Over the next two days, Roy took the exams for two courses at the Elf Academy: Modern Elf History and Elf Continent Geography. Roy had put in a lot of effort in Elf Continent Geography, and the questions that Master Harper set this time were not too difficult. The last question was to describe the geographical location of Palram Island.
Roy's only impression of the island was that there was a prison there, which was said to hold many vicious prisoners.
The journey from Castleton Harbour to Parraram Island by boat takes about half a day when the wind is favorable. If there are headwinds, you'll have to stay in Castleton Harbour until the weather improves before heading out to sea.
Roy walked out of the examination room and along the path to the college gate.
Klayr was standing at the main gate, surrounded by a group of Silver Moon Elf students, many of whom wanted to invite Klayr to their summer activities.
Seeing Roy walk out of the academy gate, Klayr stepped out from the crowd.
Roy asked Klayr:
"Klayr, how many exams have you taken?"
As Klayr greeted the elven students passing by, she whispered to Roy:
"We've already finished four exams, and the last one was really easy. Oh, by the way, Roy! The academy holds a dance every semester, wanna go ask a date?"
How could Klayr lack female companions? Roy knew that Klayr was saying this to appease him; she wanted to replicate the ball on the Nautilus, hoping that some Silver Moon Elf girls would be willing to offer a buy-one-get-one-free deal...
Roy then declined, saying, "Klayr, I'd like to invite my own female companion this time."
Klayr shrugged, put her arm around Roy's shoulder, and said, "Whatever..."
The final exams at the Elf Academy are a top priority for every elf student.
There are very few students absent these days. If someone misses the exam, it means they will have to take it all over again next year.
The sea breeze was a little cool in the morning. The north wind blowing from the Frozen Sea made my joints feel cold.
Sabrina, wearing a long dress with a sheepskin vest and scarf over it, stood at the front door, waiting for Roy to come out of the yard...
What are your plans for the holiday?
Sabrina spoke to Roy on her own initiative.
Roy turned and closed the courtyard gate, then turned and walked with Sabrina towards the Cross Street Intersection, saying:
"We may have to go on a plane adventure with Instructor Nora's Adventure Group. Their Adventure Group is missing a Novice Priest."
"Such a good thing?" Sabrina covered the corner of her mouth, which revealed a smile, and said, feigning ignorance:
"I've heard that if you're lucky, you can get some pretty good rewards from exploring other dimensions!"
"Well... maybe. This is my first time on an adventure, Instructor Nora hasn't even told us where we're going yet!" Roy said.
As they talked, they walked to the Cross Street Intersection, where they could already see Long Carriage slowly approaching from a distance.
After the two got into the carriage, Sabrina asked Roy:
"Still no news from Abbott?"
Roy shook his head and said, "No, he seems to have suddenly disappeared..."
Sabrina could sense that Roy acting strangely today; he seemed a little nervous and even spoke less.
She would occasionally turn her head to look at Roy...
Roy hesitated for a long time, figuring that if he formally extended an invitation to Sabrina, he wouldn't get beaten up even if she rejected him.
So he mustered his courage and said in one breath to Sabrina, who was sitting next to him:
"Sabrina, would you be my date for the dance at the academy this weekend?"
Sabrina turned to look at Roy, blinked her large, emerald-like eyes, and said, "Okay!"
He agreed so readily that Roy felt it was a little unreal.
Roy raised his fist and shook it in front of his chest, celebrating his successful invitation to Sabrina...
Then, the atmosphere suddenly became a little awkward, and neither of them knew what to say for a moment.
The Long Carriage rolled over the cobblestones of the street, slowly passing through the main street of the Lower District.
Roy passed all three of his final exams smoothly, and his tense mood finally relaxed.
Next, Roy will have a two-month vacation.
Roy hummed a song all the way home, only to find Ms. Belinda packing her things in the living room. Seeing Roy walk in, she happily said:
"Roy, you're back just in time. I received an invitation from the Bruno Art Gallery, one of the three major Art Gallery in Buenos. They want my sculpted Linglong Ball to be exhibited in their museum. I need to go to Buenos to discuss some exhibition details with them. Are you on vacation? Would you like to come with me to Buenos?"
"Belinda, I probably can't make it. There's a ball at the college this weekend, and I've already made plans with people," Roy said to Ms. Belinda as he took off his shoes, walked into the living room, and sat down on the sofa.
Ms. Belinda pinched Roy's cheeks with both hands and said affectionately to him, "Then you stay at home and take good care of yourself. I'll be back as soon as possible."
"Knew..."
