Adventurers Guild
The students of the Elf Academy finally got a holiday before the cold wave from the Sea of Ice Peaks arrived.
In fact, even when the tide comes in, Castleton City has no winter.
It's rare to see snow in this city. South of the Eternal Night Forest on the Elf Continent, the climate is pretty much the same. Moreover, there is no spring or autumn here. When the north winds of the Frozen Sea stop in February of the following year, Castleton will instantly enter summer. The long summer lasts until July, August, and September, which are the rainy season.
Therefore, the months with the best weather of the year are almost all in the first half of the year.
After a quick breakfast, Roy, wearing thick leather trousers and a canvas jacket, headed out onto Brown Street.
Having left home early, Roy didn't take the Long Carriage. Instead, he walked along the main street towards the Elf Academy. The streets of the Lower District were usually bustling with activity, and many vendors would set up small stalls on the street. These street stalls were strictly prohibited in the Upper District.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the Elf Academy, Instructor Nora was already waiting there.
"Today I'm going to take you to the Adventurers Guild to register your information. You need to become a registered adventurer before you can join our Adventure Group and embark on a journey through different planes with us."
Instructor Nora wore brown leather armor and had a plain longsword at her waist, looking like an ordinary ranger.
Walking down the street, it's hard to tell from her attire that she is actually a martial arts instructor at an Elf Academy.
"Okay, Instructor Nora," Roy replied.
Instructor Nora led Roy westward along the main road of the Elf Academy.
After passing the Castleton City Magic Guild, we walked a little further west before arriving at a gray three-story building with many battle scenes carved on its exterior walls.
The sign outside the building reads ' Adventurers Guild,' but it's rather inconspicuous and you have to get closer to see it.
Leading them up the steps, Instructor Nora showed her identification badge to the guard, who then opened the door and invited Instructor Nora and Roy into the Adventurers Guild's first-floor lobby.
This is quite different from the Magic Guild. The Magic Guild's lobby is more like a magic mall, where anyone can buy goods.
However, the Adventurers Guild is obviously only open to guild members, and first-time visitors need a referral; otherwise, they can't even get through the guild gates, let alone register as Adventurers Guild.
Upon entering the Adventurers Guild's main hall, Roy discovered that it wasn't as deserted as he had imagined.
At the front of the hall, a huge pillar stands around a circular reception desk, where several female elf waitresses stand. There are no chairs or anything around the reception desk.
Instructor Nora entered the lobby on the first floor and walked straight to the bar.
Roy noticed that there were sofa-enclosed rest areas on both sides of the hall, each sofa forming a separate space, and there were quite a few elves chatting in the rest areas.
There were also some potted plants placed between these sofas...
Roy was looking around when he heard someone ahead greet Instructor Nora: "Nora, long time no see! Every time I see you, it means the north wind of the Frozen Sea will be blowing so hard my joints will ache. I need to buy a ticket to the Wood Elf Kingdom to escape the north wind for the next two months. What are your plans for this vacation?"
The Old Elf looked kind and gentle, with deep wrinkles on his face, and looked at Roy with wise eyes.
Instructor Nora stopped and complained to the Old Elf:
"What other plans could we have? We just want to explore a less crowded dimension. Last time, we saw Adventure Group in every area of the dimension. It wasn't an exploration of unknown areas; it was practically a survival competition in the wild."
The Old Elf made no comment on the matter, but simply smiled and waved to Instructor No, saying, "Hehe, if you get any good stuff, don't forget to let me know. If I'm not around, keep the things you're not in a hurry to sell for me, but... I only want the good stuff."
"Of course, haven't we always had a very pleasant working relationship?"
"Haha, that's true, that's true!"
Instructor Nora watched the Old Elf leave before leading Roy to the front desk and saying directly to the female elf receptionist, "Give me a registration form for the Adventurers Guild..."
The elven waitress from the Adventurers Guild immediately retrieved a roll of parchment from under the counter. The parchment was rolled into a scroll; she untied the string, unfolded it before Instructor Nora Instructor Nora, and asked her:
Who wants to apply to join the union?
Nora pointed at Roy and said, "Him."
The elven waitress from the Adventure Guild looked at Roy, pulled a Quill Pen from under the table, and turned to Roy with a smile, asking:
"Name, age, gender, race?"
The waitress started with four questions in quick succession...
Roy quickly answered truthfully, and then they asked Roy about his profession.
"Novice Priest," Roy said.
The female elf waitress stopped writing, looked up at Roy, and said:
"Your profession is quite rare here, and I'm afraid I won't be able to accurately describe your abilities. Could you please add some information in the remarks section?"
"That's because very few Priest are willing to join the Adventurers Guild. No information about Priest is required. We apply to join the Adventurers Guild not to wait for other Adventure Group to hire us; it's simply for registration..."
Instructor Nora chimed in from the side.
The female elf waitress glanced helplessly at Instructor Nora.
The adventures depicted on this parchment are currently blank.
These adventures will be filled out gradually later.
Each time the Adventure Group returns, the Adventure Group will update their resumes...
Of course, these achievements cannot be claimed without evidence; each time a prey is caught, proof of the prey must be brought along.
These achievements represent an adventurer's journey from a novice to a seasoned adventurer, a process of growth in experience, transformation in abilities, and consequently, an increase in their net worth.
Adventure Group leaders who want to recruit new members will do so through the Adventure Group Guild.
Here, newcomers or veterans can choose freely, and the Adventurers Guild can provide a range of detailed information.
Of course, many elves, like Instructor Nora, will actively recruit newcomers into their Adventure Group.
Generally speaking, it is best for newcomers to register as members of the Adventurers Guild before joining Adventure Group, so that new adventurers will have a complete adventure record.
If Roy completes this adventure first, and then registers as a member of the Adventurers Guild, it will be difficult to record this previous adventure.
This is why Instructor Nora wanted to bring Roy to join the Adventurers Guild before the Adventure Group set off.
First, you join the Adventurers Guild, then you join her Adventure Group; that's the proper procedure.
While registering for membership in the Adventurers Guild, Roy stood next to the front desk, carefully examining the first-floor lobby of the Adventurers Guild.
A row of blackboards hung on the walls around the hall. Roy noticed that they were covered with writing, but they were too far away for Roy to read what was written at all...
Many elves stood below the blackboard, reviewing the information line by line.
The annual membership fee for the Adventurers Guild was a whopping 500 Kole, Instructor Nora generously paid the fee for Roy.
However, Instructor Nora then said that Roy needed to repay the money, which would be deducted from Roy's share of the spoils after his first Adventure Group in the wilderness.
The front desk will be making a nameplate for Roy shortly. Roy will need to wait here for a while.
Instructor Nora had some business to attend to, so she left Roy alone in the lobby on the first floor to wait for his nameplate to be collected...
Roy didn't wait at the front desk, but instead wandered around the lobby.
What he was most curious about were the blackboards hanging on the surrounding walls, so he went straight to one of them and found that it was covered with information about buying monster materials, with many of the prices listed as very high.
There were also some recruitment notices for Adventure Group, and these recruitment notices were all over the place, with all sorts of strange requirements in the notes...
Roy found some commission information on the blackboard, but there was very little of this type of commission, and they were all commissions to explore unknown areas.
Just then, Instructor Nora came back from upstairs.
Roy asked her curiously, "Instructor, why can't we see any quests on these blackboards at the Adventure Group' Guild?"
"Escort, garrison, rescue, and other similar assignments are the job of mercenaries in the Mercenary Guild. If you want to do these kinds of missions, you need to join the Mercenary Guild and then choose a Mercenary Group," Instructor Nora told Roy.
"Our Adventure Group are almost all engaged in adventure-related activities, such as hunting magical beasts in the Magic Beast Forest, or exploring unknown areas in unfamiliar planes," Instructor Nora said patiently.
Roy's eyes lit up as he looked at the blackboards surrounding the Adventurers Guild' Guild walls...
It turns out that the lives of adventurers are so rich and colorful.
Instructor Nora's Adventure Group is scheduled to depart this Thursday, and everyone will meet at Castleton Harbour.
Roy didn't even know if there were any other members of the Adventure Group besides the few elf Academy Instructor and Miss Scarlett...
Judging from Instructor Nora's tone, it seems so.
With two days left, Roy needed to prepare for this interdimensional journey, including outdoor supplies such as a tent, a cooking pot, a water bladder, and some Elf Biscuit.
Ms. Belinda has been away from home for almost a week, and Roy is left to prepare for the trip alone...
While packing her luggage on the balcony, Moira sat on the balcony railing, staring at Roy with her big, bright eyes.
Sabrina is also preparing for her trip, and Moira will be home alone for a while.
"Moira ..."
Roy pressed his hands against the suitcase, trying to close the lid.
Moira blinked and looked at Roy: "Hmm?"
After Roy closed the suitcase tightly, he stood up straight and said to Moira, "I want to ask you for a favor!"
Moira's eyes widened. She was introverted, even somewhat withdrawn, and disliked interacting with outsiders...
Roy knew all of this.
However, the task Roy wanted to ask Moira this time was to give her the courage to leave her home and try to connect with the outside world.
Roy looked at Moira and said to her:
"As you know, I have a ship in Castleton Harbour. While I'm away from Castleton, I'd like to ask you to look after it for me."
Moira was startled and jumped off the terrace railing.
She hesitated for a while, but finally agreed:
"Okay, I'll go once a week."
Roy smiled and said to Moira, "There's a Naga Sea Clan friend living on the ship. If you don't want to go, you don't have to force yourself..."
Moira became even more nervous, her hands clenched tightly together, her eyes filled with panic.
But she was the kind of elfin girl who wouldn't easily give up once she made a decision, and after a long while, she said to Roy:
"I can try... but I'm not sure I can do it well."
"You can do it, I know you can," Roy encouraged Moira.
He put the suitcase into his Magic Pouch, then gathered the clothes drying on the terrace into a basket, clapped his hands, and said to Moira, "I'm going to the Fish Market to buy some fish later. It seems like we haven't had grilled fish in ages..."
Thursday morning was unusually sunny.
The sea was calm, and a row of ships were moored in Castleton Harbour. A flock of seagulls circled near the fishing boats on the Shallow Water Pier of the harbor.
Recently, there have been a number of ships departing from St. Margaret Port. Once the sails are fully raised, the sea breeze will carry these fishing boats southward. The ships carry a large amount of products from the Eternal Night Forest, and Castleton Harbour is the first port of call for these ships.
As soon as November began, the docks at Castleton Harbour became extremely busy...
A ship bound for Ellington Island docked at the Deep Water Pier, where some elves were already waiting.
Instructor Nora and the Magician Scarlett jumped off the carriage one after the other.
Miss Scarlett looked at the ship and complained to Nora:
"Why did we have to choose such a remote dimension this time? We even have to take a boat to an island to get through to that dimension..."
at the same time,
Roy had packed all his luggage into his Magic Pouch, so he was traveling light this time.
Roy left a note informing Ms. Belinda that he had joined an Adventure Group Adventure Group and would soon be embarking on a dimensional exploration journey with them, which would take approximately six to eight weeks to return to Castleton City.
After locking the door, Roy checked all the windows and doors around the house to make sure they were closed before leaving the yard.
Roy closed the courtyard gate, turned around, and saw Sabrina, dressed in leather armor, walking out of the yard...
"Sabrina, are you going out so early?"
Sabrina covered her mouth and laughed as she replied, "You were just as early..."
Seeing the Heavy Sword on Sabrina's back, Roy asked curiously:
"Sabrina, where are you headed?"
