South Wind Path
A narrow mountain path in front of the Griffon Mountain Range Aperture No.3 is called the South Wind Path by the elves of Bulwark Village. It is a place that even griffins dare not set foot in. The howling mountain wind seems to have found an outlet, blowing in from the south and forming an extremely strong airflow.
The elves who walk along this path need to bend their knees, lean forward, and bend slightly at the waist.
To prevent anyone from being accidentally blown away by the wind, Instructor Nora walked at the front, and every so often she would insert an Iron Awl into the rocky ground. The members of the Adventure Group shared a safety rope, which was attached to the ankle of each member's right foot.
This time, Instructor Virgil walked at the very back of the group, responsible for pulling out the Iron Awl stuck in the rocks.
According to guide Majeri, there is no way to rest on this trail; you must pass through this dangerous canyon in one go. Once you exhaust yourself in the valley, the adventurer will be blown out of the valley by the wind...
The dangers of the South Wind Path are not limited to its harsh weather conditions.
Although griffins cannot enter the South Wind Path, it is inhabited by a low-level magical beast that is unafraid of the gales and can travel against the wind.
Few people have seen what they look like. They live on the sides of the rock face and often attack elf hunters who enter the South Wind Path. More often than not, they hang upside down in the crevices of the rocks on both sides of the mountain. When they see elves being blown away by the wind, they ride the wind and chase after these elves until they fall to their deaths at the bottom of the cliff, and then they retrieve their bodies.
The elf hunters of Bulwark Village call these lesser monsters Ghoul-faced Bat.
Before entering the South Wind Path, the Adventure Group took a short break of fifteen minutes, and Roy also blessed Magician Scarlett, Sabrina, and Miss Christine with Strength Blessing.
Magician Scarlett cannot ride the Magic Broom through the South Wind Path; she can only walk through it with everyone else.
As a physically weak magician, Miss Scarlett has to work much harder than others.
She was protected in the center of the group, with Instructor Eleanor and Instructor Gru walking in front of her, followed by Roy, Sabrina, Christine, and finally Instructor Virgil.
The gale-force winds in the valley have carried away everything that could be blown away, leaving the entire valley bare. The rock surfaces appear exceptionally smooth, with streaks and marks left by the wind everywhere.
After Roy's Magic Inscription Construct was activated, his stamina was continuously restored, and with the Strength Blessing and the Great Bear Strength, he was no longer afraid of the gale in the valley.
With him pulling Sabrina behind him, and Sabrina pulling Miss Christine, the three elf students followed Magician Scarlett steadily.
Roy looked up at the two sides of the valley. The canyon was very narrow, like a crack in the mountain, a narrow path formed by weathering.
He wanted to see the Ghoul-faced Bat hanging on the mountainside, but before he could even see the bats, a pebble hit his mask. His mask was like a face mask, with a dozen or so round holes for breathing and his eyes exposed, while the rest was covered.
In addition to the leather face mask, Roy also wore a veil to prevent sand from getting into his eyes, but it couldn't stop the pebbles.
When Roy first entered South Wind Path, his face was broken by a pebble, and now the pebble hit his faceplate with a crisp crack.
It didn't hurt Roy, but it did startle him.
The other members of the Adventure Group were not in much better shape either; almost everyone had to lower their center of gravity and crouch down as they walked forward step by step.
Amidst a piercing scream, a Ghoul-faced Bat suddenly flew out from the cliff face on the left.
Now I know why they're called Ghoul-faced Bat. When they fly, their fleshy wings spread wide open, and the patterns on them form a ghost face.
Using the force of the gale, it rushed towards Instructor Nora...
Just before the Ghoul-faced Bat crashed into Instructor Nora Instructor Nora, she swung her shield, sending the Ghoul-faced Bat flying. The Ghoul-faced Bat's head struck the shield, leaving a pool of blood on it, Ghoul-faced Bat fell to Instructor Nora's feet.
These bats have very small heads, making it impossible for them to form a magic core. They don't even qualify as level one magical beasts, yet they are still classified as magical beasts.
After they die, their bodies quickly turn into sand.
In a short while, the original flesh and blood body turned into a handful of fine sand and was blown away by the wind.
Guide Majeri had said that the Ghoul-faced Bat rarely attacked elf hunters...
In retrospect, it can only be said that the Adventure Group was unlucky. After the first Ghoul-faced Bat rushed out, countless Ghoul-faced Bat flew into the sky afterward.
"Damn Ghoul-faced Bat, come at me if you want to die!"
Instructor Nora stood at the front of the group, shouting as she walked forward...
When Ghoul-faced Bat charged at her, she simply slammed it down with her shield.
These bats all fly on the wind, so their speed is naturally extremely fast. Moreover, when Nora swung her shield, they didn't have time to dodge. In just a short while, more than a dozen Ghoul-faced Bat were swatted away by Instructor Nora and turned into a handful of fine sand.
These Ghoul-faced Bat, though weak in attack, are numerous.
The attacks kept coming at Instructor Nora the whole way; it could be said that Instructor Nora practically walked over the corpses of the Ghoul-faced Bat.
However, Instructor Nora was exhausted from killing the Ghoul-faced Bat and leading the way at the front of the group. After the Adventure Group had walked 500 meters along the South Wind Path, Instructor Nora was already showing signs of fatigue.
Sweat streamed down Instructor Nora's face as she breathed heavily, her arm holding the shield trembling slightly, each swing requiring considerable effort.
Following behind Instructor Nora, Instructor Gru wanted to take out his Battle Shortbow to help Instructor Nora with her burden.
However, in the fierce wind, he was unable to draw the short bow fully.
Several Ghoul-faced Bat spread their wings and rode the wind. As they crashed into Instructor Nora, they opened their not-so-large mouths, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth. Their eyes were blood-red, and they emitted a shrill cry.
Instructor Nora raised her aching arm; she was too weak to swing the shield anymore and could only barely cover her face.
A faint Magic Shield appeared around Instructor Nora, and the Ghoul-faced Bat that crashed into the magical shield were instantly repelled.
With each impact, the magical shield will weaken a little.
Then, an ice spear exploded above Instructor Nora's head, sending the newly gathered Ghoul-faced Bat scattering in all directions...
But when the instructors looked up and gazed at the valley below, they discovered hundreds upon hundreds of Ghoul-faced Bat flying at high speed over the South Wind Path, densely packed and blotting out the sun.
At this moment, guide Majeri was locked in the Adventure Group team and was almost paralyzed with fear by these bats.
Miss Scarlett was unable to cast spells in the strong winds; the two spells were cast by tearing open two Magic Scroll.
Seeing that Instructor Nora was exhausted, Instructor Eleanor quickly untied her safety rope, stepped in front of Instructor Nora, and took her place, leading the way.
Instructor Eleanor had no shield; she used her longsword to continuously slash at the Ghoul-faced Bat. Instructor Gru, who was following behind, took the Iron Awl from Instructor Nora and was responsible for smashing the Iron Awl into the rock crevices to ensure that no one would be blown away by the strong wind.
Instructor Nora stepped down to third place, in front of Miss Scarlett, and silently began to recover her strength...
"I only brought a little over a hundred Magic Scroll with me this time, I can't just leave them all here! Nora, didn't you do your travel planning before you came out? What's with these ghost bats?"
Miss Scarlett was somewhat dissatisfied with Instructor Nora, complaining that she hadn't done a good job of preparation.
He unfurled another Magic Scroll, casting a magical shield over Instructor Eleanor.
While the group stopped, Roy had Sabrina support him from behind, and then, braving the strong wind, he quickly cast ' Strength Blessing ' on Instructor Nora.
Despite the harsh conditions, Roy's divine magic actually worked.
Of course, this is largely due to his frequent use of ' Strength Blessing ' in the past few days...
Perhaps sensing a source of power continuously flowing into her body, Instructor Nora turned and nodded to Roy.
The Adventure Group walked a little further, and after Instructor Eleanor had killed dozens of Ghoul-faced Bat, she finally showed signs of fatigue and her pace slowed down.
Although Instructor Nora hadn't fully recovered her strength, at this point, he was the only one who could continue to take the lead...
At that moment, a hand reached out from Miss Scarlett and grabbed Instructor Nora's wrist. Instructor Nora turned around and found that it was Roy.
"Instructor Nora, let me try being at the front..." Roy shouted to Instructor Nora.
The wind howled through the canyon; you couldn't hear anything unless you shouted.
Instructor Nora wanted to object, but to her surprise, Roy defied the wind and stepped forward, shielding the exhausted Instructor Eleanor behind him.
The Ghoul-faced Bat kept coming in on the wind, but Roy didn't just use his shield to slam Ghoul-faced Bat down like Instructor Nora. Instead, he infused a Holy Light Power into his shield and Holy Scepter, causing them to glow faintly.
Countless Magic Rune Array lit up beneath Roy's feet, and he actually stood up straight in the gale, swinging his scepter to strike a Ghoul-faced Bat the size of a pigeon.
The scepter, imbued with Holy Light Power, struck the head of the Ghoul-faced Bat, and a bizarre scene ensued...
The bat turned into a handful of fine sand in mid-air and was swept away by the strong wind.
Roy's movements were all Elementary Martial Arts taught by Instructor Nora, and his movements were very standard. After killing a bat, he took two steps forward and smashed dozens of Ghoul-faced Bat in succession. Roy was at the forefront of the Adventure Group, leading everyone for more than a hundred meters.
Roy, however, seemed to show no signs of fatigue at this moment.
He rarely used his shield to block, almost always striking with his scepter, and with great precision, so few bats would collide with the magical shield around Roy.
Roy felt as if he had inexhaustible strength.
And so, Roy led the Adventure Group forward for more than 300 meters until Instructor Nora had fully recovered her strength, at which point Instructor Nora replaced him.
It took the three Instructor Nora, Instructor Eleanor, and Roy, seventeen turns and most of the day before the Adventure Group finally managed to leave South Wind Path.
As soon as we stepped out of the South Wind Path, the fierce south wind subsided considerably...
Suddenly, Roy saw a V-shaped pass two kilometers away, with a bare ridge ahead of him.
