Poisoned
At the edge of the Blackwater Swamp, the Adventure Group hunted down three dire wolves in the jungle ahead.
The Adventure Group dragged the three dire wolves to a puddle, where Instructor Eleanor skinned them, cut off their heads, and put them in a box. These magical beast materials could be exchanged for Magic Crystal Stone once they were brought back to Castleton City.
Roy dug into the thick, black sludge, which seemed to be saturated with oil and shone brightly in the sunlight.
He and his instructors buried the remains of the three dire wolves under a tree. This trip to the Blackwater Swamp brought the Adventure Group many unexpected gains, and every member was overjoyed.
Only the guide Majeri, kept a tense look in his eyes, and he had been very careful throughout the journey.
I have to tell the members of the Adventure Group countless times every day not to step into the Blackwater Swamp.
He kept repeating himself, until everyone was getting a little impatient.
The instructors were puzzled; it was clearly a great hunting ground, so why was Majeri so afraid?
Following the directions of guide Majeri, the group walked almost entirely through jungles on the edge of swamps.
The forest had fewer weeds and provided shade from the scorching sun, so everyone followed the path pointed out by guide Majeri and headed north.
In the evening, everyone sat around the campfire.
Instructor Virgil stroked a Wind Fox pelt with both hands and said proudly to Sabrina, "Gloves made of Wind Fox fur are not only the first choice for archers, but also suitable for swordsmen. We have hunted enough Wind Fox to make a pair of gloves for everyone."
Sabrina smiled sweetly, but her gaze was fixed on Roy's Thick Leather Gloves...
She dealt with Instructor Virgil somewhat absentmindedly.
Instructor Virgil was very handsome and popular among the female elf students at the academy. He was always polite and had exceptional swordsmanship.
Aside from the fact that he always has different female companions, there's really nothing to criticize about him.
As the sun sets, a wetland lake lies outside the Pine Forest, its banks covered with reeds, and occasionally wild ducks can be seen swimming in the water.
This is the first time everyone has seen living creatures in the Blackwater Swamp.
The Adventure Group immediately relaxed, realizing that the Blackwater Swamp in front of them wasn't as terrifying as their guide, Majeri, had described.
The iron pot hanging on the rack was making a constant bubbling sound.
Miss Christine squatted down to the side, added some lemons to the pot, along with a few spoonfuls of honey and a pinch of salt, and brewed a pot of fragrant Lemon Tea.
She had never done this before when she was at home. As a pampered noblewoman, she talked about poetry and music every day and would occasionally show off her archery talent at the Shooting Range.
Miss Christine has now learned many wilderness survival skills.
Every day was full of challenges and endless novelty for her...
Miss Christine smiled faintly as she recalled the words her father had spoken to her when she left home.
She ladled the brewed Lemon Tea from the iron pot and distributed it to everyone.
Instructor Nora picked up her teacup, took a sip, and suddenly turned to look towards the swamp.
Everyone looked towards the swamp, only to find that the campfire had attracted a dire wolf, which was lying on the edge of the woodland.
Under the cover of night, the dire wolf's eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, and it would occasionally let out a low growl at the group.
Instructor Eleanor suddenly stood up, straightened her leather armor and weapons, and said to everyone, "I'll go chase that dire wolf away!" before rushing towards the wolf.
Recently, the instructors have hunted down several dire wolves. Instructor Eleanor has become familiar with the dire wolves' attack patterns and dares to face an adult dire wolf alone.
Instructor Gru was a little worried, so he followed Instructor Eleanor to approach the dire wolf that was peering at the campfire at the edge of the forest.
They probably saw two instructors running out of the camp...
The dire wolf turned and ran into the jungle.
Before them stood a square Boundary Marker the private territory of Lord Alvis. Instructor Eleanor approached Boundary Marker Boundary Marker, placed one foot on it, watched the dire wolf slip into the woods on the other side, then turned and smiled at Instructor Gru, saying:
"Our prey has wandered into Lord Alvis's territory. If we go in and drive it out, we shouldn't be violating any of the rules set by this lord."
"I don't think so!" Instructor Gru echoed.
The two then stepped on the Boundary Marker and walked side by side into the dark jungle ahead.
Instructor Eleanor was a ranger with superb jungle tracking skills, and it was precisely because of this confidence that she dared to chase a dire wolf into a dark jungle at night.
However, this time Instructor Eleanor walked a long way into the woods but still couldn't find the dire wolf.
There was an indescribable eeriness to the entire jungle; there was not a sound to be heard from any direction.
Normally, once night falls, many nocturnal forest animals would emerge from their burrows, creating rustling sounds throughout the forest, and occasionally predators would be seen hunting them. But now, the forest is eerily silent.
Instructor Eleanor had a bad feeling. She stopped and planned to leave the jungle with Instructor Gru.
Just then, a scream from a dire wolf suddenly came from deep within the dense forest. The sound stopped almost immediately after it began.
Instructor Eleanor gestured for Instructor Gro to stay behind, while she herself disappeared into the shadows.
Then, having concealed her body, Instructor Eleanor made her way into the dense forest ahead...
The woodland was somewhat damp; water seeped out when you stepped into the decaying leaves and soil.
Although Instructor Eleanor could not be seen in the dark woods, her footprints were clearly visible.
Instructor Gru hid in the back, not daring to get too close, as he didn't have Instructor Eleanor's ability to conceal his presence.
Instructor Eleanor walked a few dozen meters further and found that the forest clearing ahead was filled with the smell of blood. When he got closer, he found that there was a pool of blood on the ground. The dire wolf had long since disappeared, and the bloodstains stopped there.
Besides the pungent smell of blood, a faint mist hung in the air, and that mist...
Instructor Eleanor took a step forward, finally realizing what was happening. She quickly covered her mouth and nose and ran back with all her might. She didn't even see the huge black head hiding right above her before turning away.
She pulled Instructor Gru towards the edge of the jungle, and before he could ask any questions, Instructor Gru quickly said, "Don't breathe! There's poison gas in there!"
She ran forward a few dozen more steps, but her body seemed to gradually slip out of her control. Her hands and feet wouldn't obey her commands, and then she stumbled and fell onto the grassy area in the woods.
Instructor Gru was startled; he never expected Instructor Eleanor to lie down like that.
Instructor Gru stopped and found that Instructor Eleanor had fallen into a coma. He dared not breathe, bent down, picked up Instructor Eleanor, carried her on his shoulder, and ran desperately towards the edge of the forest.
In the instant he turned his head, out of the corner of his eye, Instructor Gru saw a giant, jet-black python appear behind him, and it was following him.
When Instructor Gru turned around and looked over, he immediately raised his head...
It was so enormous that its body, as thick as a bucket, was much taller than an adult when stood upright.
"Hiss hiss hiss..."
A pair of eerie green eyes radiated a cold light...
It swayed its body back and forth close to the ground, moving forward rapidly.
There was a very obvious bulge on its abdomen, which probably meant that the dire wolf was already inside the giant python's belly.
Miss Christine sat by the campfire, changing the bowstring on her Battle Shortbow.
Instructor Virgil moved closer, and the two chatted happily.
Sabrina took the opportunity to sidle up to Roy...
At that moment, Roy was sitting next to the guide, Majeri, asking him for advice:
"Guide Majeri, please tell us about some of the most powerful magical beasts in the Blackwater Swamp."
Guide Majeri immediately said, "In the Blackwater Swamp, the most terrifying creature is the Blackwater Killer Bee. An ordinary elf would be in mortal danger if stung by these Killer Bee. These Killer Bee are social magical beasts; they share a huge hive, usually built in dry burrows in the swamp."
This honeycomb is very special; it is not only waterproof but also extremely sturdy. The underground caverns are interconnected and divided into birthing rooms, incubation rooms, rest areas, granaries, and so on.
Once, an Adventure Group of more than fifty adventurers entered the Blackwater Swamp to hunt Killer Bee. They found a Killer Bee nest, and in the end, only four elves escaped from the cave.
In addition, deep within the swamp, there is a unique towering tree that can grow to almost seventy or eighty meters tall. Its bare trunk has almost no branches, with only some leaves growing at the top. A magical beast called the Dragonfly lives on this towering tree. Its head is blood red, and its transparent wings are sharper than ordinary swords. Elves that are bitten by the Dragonfly almost always cannot escape the fate of having their blood sucked dry. However, as long as you do not venture into the depths of the swamp, you will not encounter those Dragonflies.
There is another type of magical beast called the Venomous Horned Black Serpent. Not only do their teeth contain deadly venom, but they can also spew Poisonous Fog. A single Venomous Horned Black Serpent can be tens of meters long. They often hunt magical beasts such as griffins and dire wolves at the edge of the Blackwater Swamp..."
Before the guide Majeri, could finish his introduction, they heard hurried footsteps coming from afar.
Instructor Gru's voice came from over there:
"... Come help me quickly!"
Roy quickly stood up.
Then they saw him carrying Instructor Eleanor back, and everyone gathered around. Instructor Gru placed the unconscious Instructor Eleanor on the grass. By the light of the campfire, Roy saw that Instructor Eleanor's face was black, clearly indicating that she had been poisoned.
