The Big Winner
Just as Roy and his group were returning to Castleton City by boat, Abbott was hiding in a cave.
Using the faint light, he drew a route on a nautical chart.
Abbott spent more than half a year studying a large number of nautical charts, and now he can almost draw the entire Endless Sea.
Within the Endless Sea region lie nearly a hundred islands of varying sizes.
Even the smallest group of islands has dozens of islands...
However, none of these island groups perfectly matched the Treasure Map.
Abbott has lost a lot of weight recently. His eyes are sunken and bloodshot, and his thin lips have turned a dark purple.
He occasionally needs to drink Mana Potion to stay alert...
Fortunately, Pattington Plane herbs, so the cost of making potions of Mana Potion is not too high.
"Benjamin, how could this be? Are there other island groups in the Endless Sea that haven't been marked? How could we not find the treasure?"
Abbott, scratching his messy hair, spoke to Benjamin in a somewhat delirious manner.
Benjamin was squeezing lemon juice into a cup; the cave was very basic.
As a magician, Benjamin still hopes to live a more refined life.
"Is it possible that the treasure isn't even in the Endless Sea?" Benjamin asked casually without looking up.
Abbott felt as if he'd been punched hard in the chest, instantly bringing him to his senses. All his previous efforts had been focused on the Endless Sea, but he hadn't considered what to do if the treasure wasn't hidden Endless Sea...
His face was pale, and he leaned weakly against the cold rock wall, muttering to himself, "Could it be that I've gone in the wrong direction with my research?"
Looking at Abbott's bewildered face, Benjamin was speechless...
"..."
For the past two months, Abbott and Benjamin have been following a group of Slave Traders, wandering around the mountains surrounding Padesto City.
The most ferocious monsters in these mountains are only dire wolves. The Slave Traders are not afraid of dire wolves at all and will hunt them down whenever they encounter them.
They hid in these mountains mainly to avoid being captured by the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion.
Benjamin, on the recommendation of Slave Traders Jones, joined Abbott's group of Slave Traders.
Currently, the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion is stationed in Padesto City...
These Slave Traders couldn't go back, nor could they leave the Pattington Plane through the Teleportation Portal. They could only wander Pattington Plane. They dared not go too far from the Padesto City, as some undeveloped jungles were inhabited by a large number of high-level magical beasts, making those jungles even more dangerous.
This mountain range belongs to Baron Alvis's territory. Few Half-Elf usually enter this mountain range; only some low-level magical beasts roam here.
Therefore, this mountain range became a temporary refuge for these Slave Traders.
Of course, Benjamin and Abbott were able to blend in with a group of Slave Traders, mainly because Benjamin the Mage made a promise to them, in addition to a little bit of favor from Slave Traders Slave Traders Jones.
Benjamin boasted that if everyone could leave Pattington safely, he would lead them to Castleton Harbour to steal a Great Sea Ship, so that they could escape the Elf Continent and plunge into the vast, Endless Sea, never to return to the Elf Continent.
Benjamin also told the Slave Traders: Abbott is a navigator familiar with the Endless Sea; he possesses the most complete and detailed nautical charts of the Endless Sea.
The Slave Traders even assumed that Abbott, who spent his days and nights sketching on nautical charts, was drawing up their escape route at sea.
Abbott's familiarity with the numerous islands of the Endless Sea provided them with more supply points during their escape, which is why he treated the two of them with exceptional courtesy...
Jones was just a minor leader among these Slave Traders...
Jones mingled with a group of Slave Traders chatting at the cave entrance.
"I heard that a large-scale screening of people is underway in Padesto City right now, so it will probably be even more difficult to go Padesto City in the future," said a Slave Traders leader.
The Slave Traders fell silent.
They simply didn't want to live the life of elf hunters, spending their days in the wilderness surrounded by magical beasts, which is why they became Slave Traders.
But now... they can only hide in a remote cave, trembling with fear.
"We can't hide in the jungle forever, can we?"
Who knows!
Jones's eyes darted around, recalling the few words Benjamin the Mage had spoken to him yesterday, and he said, "Actually, we can make ourselves look even more disheveled, hunt more dire wolves Wind Fox recently, and then try to join the Half-Elf Rebel Army."
"..."
Silence fell over the surroundings, and all the Slave Traders stared at Jones with puzzled expressions.
"Only by joining the Half-Elf Rebel Army will we have a chance to leave the Pattington Plane?" Jones said.
A Slave Traders leader put his arm around Jones's shoulder and said to him:
"Don't even mention asking us to join the Rebel Army now. Even if the Rebel Army were ten times larger, they still couldn't defeat the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion... Why should we join the Rebel Army?"
Jones explained, "When the Half-Elf Rebel Army attacked Padesto City, they were routed by the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion. However, the Silver Pegasus Legion did not pursue the Rebel Army afterward. Instead, they conducted a large-scale search for our group in Padesto City."
"It's not that they can't defeat the Rebel Army, it's that they simply don't want to fight..."
"So I think that once the situation in Padesto City stabilizes, some Highborne elves will definitely step in to appease these Half-Elf..."
After Jones's analysis, the Slave Traders became somewhat tempted.
Everyone started discussing it again...
When Roy returned home, Ms. Belinda was still not back. There was a note on the dining table, covered by a glass, and even a layer of dust on it.
The part pressed at the bottom of the cup looked exceptionally clean, and the note contained only a simple sentence:
' Roy, I'm going to Buenos. I'll be back in a few days. Take care of yourself. Love, Belinda.'
Several apples in the kitchen had completely rotted, emitting a sour smell of fruit wine and decay...
On his first day back home, Roy cleaned the house inside and out. In the evening, he grilled some fish on the terrace, lay in a wicker chair, drank fruit tea, and listened to Moira recount the events that had happened on Brown Street over the past month.
Moira's life is actually very simple; she rarely leaves the yard.
Now... she has a new place to go, which is to frequently go to the Black Pearl to take care of Roy's Light Flower.
"Moira, those Light Flower on the Black Pearl... are they still alive?" Roy whispered to Moira, who was munching on a grilled fish.
Moira was so angry she wanted to shove the skewer of grilled fish she was holding into Roy's mouth...
Thinking of the delicious grilled fish in her hand, she decided to forgive him one more time.
"They're all doing well."
Moira said vaguely.
Roy breathed a sigh of relief.
Without a doubt, those Light Flower only started showing various problems when they were kept near him; they would either become sickly or withered...
"Did you capture Abbott and the human mage this time?"
Moira squatted next to the oven, eating and asking questions curiously.
Roy flipped the grilled fish on the rack and then asked:
"Didn't Sabrina tell you?"
Moira wrinkled her cute little nose and said angrily, "I asked her, but she ignored me..."
"We couldn't find it, not even a shadow of it!"
Roy answered.
Moira wasn't surprised and continued to focus on eating her grilled fish...
Roy grilled four mackerel and gave them to Mrs. Winnie's big cat. Then he and Moira tidied up the terrace a bit before going back to their room to sleep.
In the days that followed, Roy's life became very regular again.
He attends classes at the Elf Academy in the morning, studies divine magic with High Priest Reed in the afternoon, and practices martial arts with Moira in the evening...
When I go to sleep, I also place a pot of Light Flower on the windowsill in my bedroom.
Although these Light Flower are still seedlings, the Holy Light Power they contain is enough for Roy to absorb for one night...
Ms. Belinda has become increasingly busy, Roy has only recently received two postcards from her from the Buenos Art Gallery.
Recently, when Moira at night, Roy not only had to wear Thick Leather Armor, but also small Round Shield on his arms, so that... Moira could spar with Roy freely.
Even when Roy was fully armed and occasionally secretly cast a ' Strength Blessing ' on himself, he still couldn't win in practice.
Moira's assassin talent is becoming increasingly formidable, and her flexibility and coordination are also excellent, allowing her to freely perform some highly difficult martial arts techniques.
Because of her outstanding talent, Roy suggested that Moira learn some assassin techniques in the future, but she insisted on becoming a Sword Dancer like Sabrina.
But Moira is incredibly stubborn; once she's made up her mind, she won't look back...
Every night, she would use her short sword to corner Roy time and time again.
During this time, Sabrina surprisingly advanced to become a first-tier Sword Dancer with ease.
She then chose the ' Dance of Morale ' from the three sword dance techniques that Countess Amelia had given to Roy, and began to practice it diligently.
Miss Tiffany returned to Castleton City from Pattington Plane, but still lives on the Black Pearl, seemingly unwilling to leave...
Woods is also studying diligently at the Elf Academy...
Before we knew it, it was mid-May.
In two weeks, the Elf Academy will once again face its final exams.
At noon, Roy and Woods left the college together and rode in Long Carriage back to Brown Street. When they arrived at the entrance of the Goddess of Freedom Temple, they saw the postman again.
"Woods, there's a letter for you..."
The mailman called out Woods ' name accurately, startling Woods.
Woods quickly went over, took the letter, tore open the envelope, pulled out a sheet of paper, and carefully read the letter in his hand.
The postman rode away from the Goddess of Freedom Temple.
Roy and Woods walked side by side into the front courtyard. Woods was engrossed in reading the letter, then looked at Roy with concern and said:
"Roy, Uncle Dickey said in his letter that the Rebel Army on Pattington Plane are growing stronger. Although they suffered a defeat recently, more Half-Elf are joining their ranks, and the Rebel Army Rebel Army now numbering around 30,000..."
"Many Rebel Army hope to retake Padesto City... I want to write a letter to my uncle, hoping he will give up this plan, but unfortunately I have no idea where to mail it!"
Woods had seen the Silver Pegasus Warrior in Padesto City and knew very well the vast difference between Silver Pegasus Warrior and the Rebel Army rabble.
He didn't want Uncle Dickey to put himself in danger...
"Any other worries, we discussed this when I last saw Miss Christine. This battle is unlikely to even happen. Perhaps the Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion will teach the Rebel Army a lesson, but this war, with such a disparate strength, is definitely not going to occur..."
Roy said to Woods with great confidence.
Roy did not say the specific reason.
The Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion did not want to go to war because the Padesto City needed these Half-Elf residents.
Miss Christine has also been attending classes at the Elf Academy lately.
However, her life trajectory almost completely missed Roy's. Although Roy went to the Elf Academy every day, he rarely saw Miss Christine.
Miss Edith Ellington, on the other hand, can be seen quite often.
She has now become Princess Ophelia's apprentice bodyguard, spending two and a half days a week by Princess Ophelia's side to assist her with various matters.
Although the course on Modern Elf History had long since ended, Roy and Ms. Edith had developed a deep friendship.
Every so often, Ms. Edith would invite Roy and Klayr to a ball she hosted at the manor.
After Klayr returned to the Elf Academy, she composed another beautiful piano piece – Adeline by the Water.
It was this piano piece that cemented Klayr's reputation as the most talented 'young musician' in Castleton City.
Last semester, many young elves were still unconvinced.
This semester, all the voices that questioned Klayr completely disappeared...
With the end of the semester fast approaching, Roy has been extremely busy these days in order to prepare for the final exams for two courses.
Even his evening martial arts sparring sessions with Moira were temporarily suspended.
Just a week before the final exams, another message arrived from the Pattington Plane: ' The Seventeenth Silver Pegasus Legion will be responsible for maintaining order in the Pattington Plane for the foreseeable future. Earl Swynborne will formally accept Baron Alvis's territory north of Padesto City, becoming the Grand Lord of the Pattington Plane.'
After Roy finished his exams, he planned to go to Ellington Castle to tell Countess Amelia about the recent events.
He also wrote a letter to Xavier of the Dark Temple, telling him about the news from Castleton City.
Roy never expected that after the original forces of Pattington Plane were completely wiped out, Earl Swynborne would become the biggest winner in this incident.
