Farewell
Abbott died on the Black Pearl, and Roy silently put Abbott into a box.
After closing the box again, Roy sat at the bow of the boat, thinking about the first time he met Jasper and Abbott, feeling no joy whatsoever.
The distant Goddess of Freedom Temple rang out melodiously; this was probably the farthest distance the sound of the bells could reach.
Roy leaned back on the ram at the bow of the ship, flipping through the nautical charts that Abbott had prepared. There were nearly three hundred parchment charts, stacked together almost a meter high.
Some of the nautical charts had messy and messy handwriting, while others had neat and orderly handwriting. It was clear that Abbott had put a lot of effort into these charts. Almost every chart had detailed notes and Charcoal Pencil circles and dots.
These nautical charts encompass the entire Endless Sea.
Roy accidentally stumbled upon a piece of scrap paper, on which was drawn a shipping route that ran through the entire Endless Sea. Moreover, each island along the route was marked with a note, indicating which port was suitable for replenishing what kind of supplies. It was all written very clearly.
Roy looked down at the Black Pearl beneath him; the tide had receded, revealing a rocky beach.
Of the three friends who were originally on the Black Pearl, only he remains, and the thought of it makes him feel somewhat depressed...
Miss Tiffany swam off to who-knows-where and vanished in an instant.
Roy waited for half a day on the Black Pearl.
It wasn't until the afternoon that he hailed a carriage, ran to the coffin shop, and spent two hundred Kole to buy a coffin. He put Abbott into the coffin, and the carriage carried the wooden coffin into the cemetery. Roy bought a plot of land next to Jasper's grave, for which he paid the gravedigger fifty Kole, and buried Abbott in the cemetery.
Finally, he planted a cypress tree at Abbott's grave, with a plaque that reads:
'The Tomb of Abbott, the tomb of a fool who spent his life searching for Dwarf Treasure.'
Roy placed two bottles of Orange Wine at Jasper's and Abbott's graves respectively, stood before them for a long time, and finally muttered, "Don't do anything so foolish in your next life..."
After saying that, Roy turned around and walked out along the path in the cemetery. Roy was the only one there from beginning to end.
Sunlight streamed into the quiet woods, casting countless dappled patterns on the ground. The damp sea breeze felt on my skin, leaving me with an indescribable discomfort...
Back at my home on Brown Street, I was surprised to find a thin layer of dust on the tables, chairs, and sofas.
It seems that Ms. Belinda has not been back for most of this period of time.
Sure enough, Roy found several letters from Ms. Belinda Buenos the mailbox in the yard.
Roy opened the most recent letter.
In her letter, Ms. Belinda said that she had found a very nice Art Gallery in Buenos, and her work had been appreciated by the curator. The curator recommended her work to participate in the largest art fair in the Elven World, and she might go to Darnassus, the city of the Wood Elf, this month.
Ms. Belinda's words were filled with joy and delight.
Looking at the empty room, Roy helplessly touched his forehead.
At that moment, he really wanted to find someone to chat with, anything would do.
Roy carried a bucket, intending to fetch some water for a proper bath.
Stepping out of the house, Moira stood by the wall, peering expectantly towards the doorway through the courtyard.
Roy suddenly noticed that Moira, who used to have to stand on a small stool and tiptoe to peek her head out from behind the wall, was now taller than the wall. Her arms could easily rest on the wall, and her big blue eyes were full of life.
Seeing Roy come out of the house, Moira's face lit up with a sweet smile, and she greeted Roy softly, "Roy, you're back!"
Roy walked over carrying a bucket of water. "Moira, how have you been lately?"
"It's alright. Tiffany and I have been taking care of the plants you keep on the boat," Moira said softly.
"Thank you very much. Oh, by the way, here you go."
After saying that, Roy took out the Thrust Sabre and handed it to Moira.
"I think this is suitable for you."
Moira took the Thrust Sabre and asked in a low voice, "Did you and Sabrina plan this together?"
"What did they discuss?" Roy asked, puzzled.
Moira cautiously glanced back to make sure Sabrina wasn't behind her before saying, "She gave me a very precious set of leather armor this morning, and then this afternoon you gave me a short sword. That's enough to complete my outfit."
"We really didn't discuss it. This was a reward from the Earl Swynborne. I just thought you might need it, so I brought it back for you." Roy laughed and turned to walk out of the courtyard to fetch water.
"In a few days, I'll be going to the Elf Academy too..." Moira said loudly from behind Roy.
With his back to Moira, Roy waved to her and replied, "That's great, then we can leave together in the morning."
Lately, perhaps influenced by Miss Tiffany, Moira has become much more cheerful.
Miss Tiffany seemed to have turned into bubbles...
She disappeared after killing Abbott.
The Black Pearl was empty again, with only Roy and Moira occasionally going up to clean and tend to the greenery on the Ship Building Black Pearl...
Sabrina would occasionally come to help, but more often, Roy would see her squatting in the market, selling fish with Ms. Jillian.
When Roy arrived at the Goddess of Freedom Temple, he found that weeds were growing in the cracks between the stone slabs in the courtyard, and the gatehouse was empty.
It's been so long since the last gathering; the front yard pool is full of rainwater.
The Main Hall doors were locked tightly. Roy went around the hedge to the backyard, where High Priest Reed was packing his luggage in the Study Room. Several huge trunks were placed in the room, and he was packing thick books into them.
Many of the books have metal covers, so moving them is obviously a physically demanding task...
Seeing Roy standing outside the door, High Priest Reed smiled.
He breathed a sigh of relief and said to Roy, "I thought you wouldn't be able to make it back before I left!"
"Has the Conscription Order been issued yet?"
"Yes, let me arrive at the Gorfito Headquarters by the end of July." High Priest Reed's tone revealed a hint of reluctance.
"What do we do here?" Roy asked again.
High Priest Reed glanced around and casually remarked:
"This land was provided by the Castleton Elven Council of Elders. After I leave, it will be returned to the Castleton Elven Council of Elders. I heard from elsewhere that it will be transformed into a Half-Elf asylum to house homeless Half-Elf children."
After saying that, he patted the books on the bookshelf and said, "I can't take all of these books with me. You can browse through them and find some you like to move with."
After saying that, he walked deep into the bookshelf, and his back view had an indescribable loneliness.
Not long after, High Priest Reed came out from the bookshelf, carrying a thick stack of books in his arms. He placed the books on the round table, then turned around and went back inside to search. He searched back and forth five times, filling the entire round table with books, before finally stopping.
"These are the divine spells I have mastered. Since you intend to continue down the path of Priest, take them!" High Priest Reed said. "Unfortunately, I haven't been able to access high-level divine spells yet. I've only heard of names like prayer, great prophecy, and resurrection rituals, and I've never even seen that bishop perform them."
He paused for a moment.
The Study Room fell into absolute silence, High Priest Reed's smile was forced.
"... In the future, I'm afraid the temple will disappear completely from the Elf Continent. Once you achieve even greater things than me and want to master more profound divine arts, you might as well go to the Roland Continent and see if you can find the divine arts of light that you need there."
Hearing High Priest Reed say that he was about to go to Gorfito, Roy suddenly felt a pang of reluctance. Thinking of Jasper's request from years ago, Roy couldn't help but say, "Teacher..."
He had barely uttered a word when High Priest Reed interrupted him:
"Give up that idea. The Dark Land is no good place. Only we, the believers of the Goddess, who pursue faith, would go there like moths to a flame."
After saying that, High Priest Reed patted Roy's shoulder forcefully.
With Roy's help, High Priest Reed spent two days packing his luggage, listing the items in the temple, closing the windows, and locking and sealing every door in the temple.
High Priest Reed's suitcases were all piled up in the yard.
High Priest Reed sat on the steps at the entrance of the Main Hall and chatted with Roy for a long time.
He had intended to teach Roy the Holy Light Art and the Blessing of Protection, but it was already too late.
High Priest Reed took out the golden-orange Wisdom Holy Grail from his robes, and Roy could clearly feel the Holy Light Power emanating from Holy Grail.
This is merely a replica of the divine artifact, the Wisdom Holy Grail, Karadar. It was only through the slow permeation of Holy Radiance that it acquired a trace of the source of holy light.
High Priest Reed looked at the Wisdom Holy Grail in his hand and explained to Roy:
"I cannot leave this Holy Grail to you. The Dark Land have isolated the Holy Light Power. Every Wisdom Holy Grail in the Dark Land is a source of divine power. We need to rely on the Holy Light Power the Holy Grail to continue our conquest in the Dark Land ..."
On a late June morning, High Priest Reed left Castle Town Goddess of Freedom Temple alone in a carriage, laden with a large load of luggage.
The temple's large iron gate was thus completely closed, and Roy locked it himself.
He then hauled several boxes of books home on a flatbed cart used for hauling fish and placed them in his room.
A person lies in bed, lost in thought...
Ms. Belinda went to Darnassus and it's unknown when she will return.
High Priest Reed has gone to Gorfito again, and it's estimated he'll never come back.
Roy felt an emptiness welling up inside him, and for a moment he lost all interest in doing anything...
