Headhunters Tribe
The Mine Guard Army at the southern entrance of the Tianpu Canyon. Roy did not rush into the Northern Plateau; he first sent the Griffon Corps to scout the Northern Plateau.
Then, he secretly led the members of the Sakarram Adventure Group into the Northern Plateau. Kaka, with a group of friends, Roy, Woods, Sabrina, Moira and Miss Tiffany, landed in a remote mountain valley.
In this mountain range, packs of Wind Wolves can be seen everywhere...
These Wind Wolves like to lie in ambush on the cliffs of the mountains. They will only leap down from the cliff when they have their eyes on their prey, and slowly wait behind the prey to capture it.
Wind Wolves usually prefer to hunt in packs. When they see their prey, they don't pounce on it immediately. Instead, they rely on their excellent patience to follow behind the prey and wait for it to show signs of weakness or fatigue before attacking as a group.
Therefore, in the Northern Plateau, although the Wind Wolves are only weak level one magical beasts, they can defeat high-level magical beasts that are several times stronger than themselves.
When these Wind Wolves spot their prey, they will howl and call out to their companions.
They leaped down from the cliff, circled behind their prey, and silently followed, licking their lips.
When the prey realizes that Wind Wolves have appeared behind them, they are initially just a little anxious. But as the number of Wind Wolves gathers, they become tense and panicked. At this point, many prey only know how to run for their lives. When they are exhausted, the Wind Wolves following behind will show themselves from behind and pounce on the prey to kill them.
Clearly, Roy and his fellow Half-Elf were not on the Wind Wolves's menu.
The Wind Wolves saw Roy and his group of half -Half-Elf jump off the griffin's back, but they only glanced at them from afar. They made no attempt to escape or chase after them, completely ignoring Roy and his companions.
Roy and Woods, on the other hand, were somewhat nervous. They were worried about being surrounded by wolves and then exposed to the headhunters' sights...
So everyone became very careful when jumping off the griffin.
The elves don't really like wolf pelts. Even the fur of Wind Wolves in Castleton City is far less valuable than that of Magic Antelope pelt.
The Sakarram Adventure Group's Sakarram Adventure Group into the Northern Plateau was not only for reconnaissance, but also one of the few times they had ventured out in the past six months.
After spending two months on the Pagisto Plateau, the team members have all shown significant growth...
Except for Roy, who hasn't become High Priest yet, everyone else in the team has successfully advanced to the first class change.
Kaka and Little Eugene explained to Roy when the griffins would return and how to contact them using the Magic Signal Flare. Then they rode their griffins into the sky, intending to continue flying north in an attempt to find the mysterious Gazan Ancestral Land.
"There's a Headhunters Village up ahead. Shall we go check it out?"
After walking for a while in the valley, Woods finally obtained this information by communicating with some large trees in the forest.
"Hmm, let's go take a look. I want to see what life is really like for headhunters in the Northern Plateau." Roy carefully parted the weeds in front of him, trying to find a path through the woods.
Although this forest area is a coniferous forest, it is covered with weeds and shrubs, making it quite difficult to walk through them.
Miss Tiffany didn't particularly like the cold, dry, and difficult-to-walk woods.
For a Naga mermaid, walking through the forest is like a human swimming in water.
Sabrina has half Wood Elf blood in her body, which is why she feels particularly at home when she enters the forest.
Woods is actually a Wood Elf, but it doesn't show up in his body.
"Do you also have some ideas about these Headhunters Tribe?" Miss Tiffany asked Roy was waiting in front of her, as she caught up from behind.
Roy asked everyone to sit down and rest for a while before saying:
"Hmm... This time, headhunters are hunting Half-Elf on the Pagisto Plateau. The Half-Elf are currently retaliating. Even if we drive these headhunters back to the Northern Plateau, I don't think we can stop this momentum. They are born hunters, and hunting is a part of their lives. Even if we drive them away this time, they will come back next time."
"So I plan to see how these headhunters live on a regular basis. If possible, I want to bring these Headhunters Tribe together and manage them in a unified manner, at least to free them from this hunting lifestyle."
"..."
Miss Tiffany never expected Roy to have such a plan.
"I thought you'd just drive these headhunters out of the Pagisto Plateau, but I didn't expect you to arrest them all..."
Roy smiled and said, "It's not about arresting them all, but about relocating them to a suitable place to live. These are just my ideas, and I don't know if they can be implemented!"
"We will help you..." Miss Tiffany said at the right moment.
Moira stood on a high branch of a tree, cautiously observing her surroundings.
The Wind Wolves seemed to know that Roy's Adventure Group was not to be trifled with, and they were too lazy to even follow behind the team.
If Roy hadn't come to the Headhunters Tribe and seen it with his own eyes, he probably would never have been able to imagine the kind of difficult life those seemingly fierce and brutal headhunters lived in the Northern Plateau.
The headhunter community in the valley lives in very simple treehouses, where the fir trees in the forest are very tall.
Headhunters carved holes in these large trees and lived in them. These holes were only for sleeping; headhunters rarely stayed in the holes except when sleeping.
Often, there would be a clearing among several fir trees, where a bonfire would be lit, surrounded by some charred stones.
The headhunters were not afraid of the wild animals in the mountains, so their dwellings were scattered in the woods, often consisting of a few large trees surrounding a campfire, which served as a small living circle.
You can always see female hunters around the campfire...
Roy had always believed that the headhunter community consisted only of men, and that the women used for procreation were all kidnapped from indigenous tribes deep in the mountains.
It doesn't seem to be like that now. There are some young female hunters who are responsible for guarding the campfires. The women in the community mainly rely on gathering and hunting small animals for a living. They wear clothes sewn from animal skins and go barefoot even in this cold weather, exposing a section of their calves.
A dagger, similar to Skinning Knife, is strapped to the lower leg and is mainly used for cutting flesh and peeling skin.
The treehouse in the fir tree looked more like a tree hole where a bear would live. Roy and the rest of the Adventure Group only secretly observed from outside the village; they had no intention of rushing into it.
A female hunter lay on the ground next to the campfire, spreading an animal hide on the ground. She was using a stone-polished scraper to scrape off the greasy side of the leather. Two dirty, drooling, and snotty children squatted beside her, wearing only hooded leather jackets.
Next to the tree hollow, you can see some blackened wooden bowls, which shows that these headhunters are living a very difficult life.
It's likely that all the men in the tribe have gone out to fight, leaving only some women, the elderly, and children in the village. Their hunting skills aren't very strong, and there aren't many small animals to catch in the forest.
Judging from their sallow and emaciated appearance, they must be frequently starving...
The Adventure Group did not disturb the headhunter's village; Roy simply observed for a while before quietly leaving.
As they retraced their steps, they encountered a team of headhunters at the location they had agreed upon with Kaka.
A group of young headhunters, carrying Short Flying Spear and with War Blade at their waists, cornered a Wind Wolves under a large tree. The leader of the group was an older headhunter whose hair had turned gray, whose skin was loose, and whose eyes were cloudy.
However, his face was covered with black markings that spread from his neck to his chest and back.
An elderly headhunter stood silently to the side, holding Short Flying Spear.
Facing the Wind Wolves was a young headhunter, his face devoid of any black markings. He gripped his War Blade, crouching low and staring intently at the baring Wind Wolves ...
The Wind Wolves appeared extremely agitated, letting out low growls.
It was trapped, surrounded by a group of young headhunters, with no way to break through.
Roy noticed that there were no other Wind Wolves around; perhaps it was a lone wolf.
Roy and his Adventure Group crouched in the grass on the mountain ridge, and through the gaps in the forest, they could just watch the headhunters hunt the whole time.
The young headhunter's combat skills still needed improvement, but he was very agile and quick-witted. Each leap allowed him to narrowly avoid the Wind Wolves's bites, while his War Blade pierced the Wind Wolves's neck. Upon seeing the sword in the Wind Wolves's neck, the young headhunter pounced on it, reaching out to pin the Wind Wolves to the ground.
The Wind Wolves whimpered and turned to bite the young headhunter's wrist. The young headhunter produced a Short Flying Spear and accurately pierced the Wind Wolves's mouth.
A blade of wind grazed the young headhunter's cheek and struck a tree, leaving a deep gash.
Then the Wind Wolves and the young headhunter rolled together, and the young headhunter, with his strong physique, finally managed to slit open the Wind Wolves's head with his War Blade and kill it...
The older headhunter strode up, berating the younger one in his headhunter's language, while simultaneously using his finger to dip into the blood flowing from the Wind Wolves's neck and draw a rune pattern on the younger headhunter's face. His solemn expression suggested he was performing some kind of ritual.
Although the young headhunter was completely exhausted, he knelt before the old headhunter with great satisfaction, letting him draw patterns on his face with wolf blood.
Then the old headhunter took out some herbs, kept putting them in his mouth and chewing them until they were mashed, then spat them into his palm and smeared the dark green, sticky paste on the young headhunter's face.
Finally, the old headhunter took out a long needle and carefully pricked it into the young headhunter's face. It was probably for the mysterious tattoos, and it looked more like a coming-of-age ceremony...
Not only Roy was very curious, but the other members of the Adventure Group were also very curious.
"Are they getting tattoos on their faces?" Moira whispered to Sabrina beside her.
Sabrina nodded.
"...%¥%#&..."
A string of words that no one could understand came from a large tree, and then a Short Flying Spear flew out of the tree.
Sabrina was extremely vigilant and immediately drew her Serugi Longsword to knock the Short Flying Spear away.
But this sword strike seemed to have stirred up a hornet's nest. Young hunters also appeared on other trees around them, all of them holding Short Flying Spear, crouching on the trees, and looking at this side with predatory eyes.
Hearing the shouts, the headhunters on the other side of the forest clearing immediately stopped their activity and ran over quickly.
Roy discovered that there were at least twenty young headhunters crouching in the surrounding trees, almost each of them holding a Short Flying Spear.
Six other headhunters ran over from the forest clearing. The older headhunter was in the lead; his face was full of wrinkles, but he was still quite agile.
He stopped about twenty meters away from Roy and asked in an Elvish Elven Language:
"Where did you come from?"
Roy emerged from the bushes and stood at the front of the Adventure Group, speaking to the old headhunter:
"We are Half-Elf who came here from the Southern Plateau..."
Before Roy could finish speaking, the old headhunter had already translated Roy's words into the native language. Whether in the tree or on the ground, all the young headhunters cheered, as if they were holding some kind of celebration ceremony.
All the young headhunters cheered and kept glancing at Roy and his group.
A young headhunter cheered:
"@#¥%...&! (They are Half-Elf!)"
"...%#&?...¥&%*¥¥*%&...###%&&*&*¥! (Are they Pig-Orcs? They don't look like it... Their clothes are very nice!)"
"&%¥#&%¥#@#¥#! (There's a bunch of Half-Elf here, everyone hurry and grab them!)"
"..."
Roy couldn't understand them, but it was clear that these young headhunters were very excited.
Several young headhunters had already surrounded them, holding War Blade and Short Flying Spear. Almost simultaneously, they all threw their Short Flying Spear at Roy and his group.
The elderly headhunter, War Blade in hand, stood guard cautiously to the side.
The young headhunter then rushed up...
A quarter of an hour later, the forest clearing was littered with the bodies of the young headhunters, and even the old headhunter had a bloody hole in his throat, with blood flowing all over the ground.
He sat weakly beside a large tree, his eyes gazing listlessly at the sky.
The battle was somewhat inexplicable, even leaving Roy feeling a bit dumbfounded. Although he won the fight, Roy hadn't even intended to fight in the first place.
The headhunters were more excited to see them than to see the Wind Wolves. They rushed up for no reason and fell flat on their faces under Sabrina's sword mountain and Woods ' bear paw. No one could withstand their attacks.
By the time the young headhunters realized something was wrong and tried to withdraw from the battle, it was too late.
Until Roy and his group left the forest full of corpses,
The two young headhunters, who were seriously injured but not dead, were still complaining:
"These Pig-Orcs are amazing, we didn't manage to learn their skills properly..."
