The quartermaster handed the supply list to Roy and hurriedly left the first-floor hall, as he still had to send out other supply lists.
Roy stood at the front desk in the lobby, carefully looking at the list of supplies in his hand. Ms. Anna, the assistant to Chief Commander Lucius, came out of the mailroom carrying a stack of documents. Roy had seen her once before when he went to see Chief Commander Lucius in the outer room of Chief Commander Lucius's office.
Ms. Anna was a Silver Moon Elf, and she looked quite pleasing to the eye in her uniform. She stopped as she passed the front desk and said to Roy, "Roy, Chief Commander Lucius is looking for you."
Roy put down the supply list, paused for a moment, and then said, "When does the Chief Commander want to see me?"
If he didn't have the supplies list in his hands, he should be sitting on the bench in front of Chief Commander Lucius's office, waiting in line for Chief Commander Lucius to summon him.
Ms. Anna tucked a stray strand of blonde hair behind her pointed ear, gave Roy a charming smile, and said:
"If it's convenient, we can do it now."
Roy was just standing in front of the reception desk bar, making wild guesses about how this batch of military supplies could have been delivered so quickly. Could it be that Chief Commander Lucius had put aside past grievances?
Now it's finally clear: the Chief Commander was planning to ease tensions between the two sides.
Roy put the supplies list into his Magic Pouch and followed Ms. Anna upstairs. The way she walked up the stairs made it seem like she might break her back at any moment...
Several clerks were sitting on a bench outside Chief Commander Lucius's office. Ms. Anna gestured for Roy to wait aside, then gently pushed open the door and entered the office.
Roy nodded to the clerks sitting on the bench as a greeting.
Before he could even take out the list of supplies, he saw Commander Berkeley walk out of Chief Commander Lucius's office.
Roy was somewhat surprised. When Commander Berkeley left Pagisto City, he said that he was going to take the Logistics Regiment to Empress Ivini Islands to participate in the war, mainly to be responsible for the transportation of logistical supplies.
"Commander Berkeley, what are you doing here?" Roy stood up and greeted Commander Berkeley.
When Commander Berkeley saw Roy, he put his hand on Roy's shoulder and said, "Roy, you've come at the right time. I was just looking for you. Are you here to see Chief Commander Lucius?"
"Um!"
Commander Berkeley patted Roy on the shoulder, gesturing for him to go in first. "Then you go see the Chief Commander first, I'll wait for you over there, I have good news for you."
He looked a little tired, but he was happy to see Roy.
Ms. Anna pushed the door open from the inside and said in a serious tone, "Mine Owners. Roy, you may come in."
Roy pushed open the door and went inside.
Chief Commander Lucius beckoned to him, gesturing for him to sit opposite him, and said to Ms. Anna outside the door, "Anna, could you please call Commander Helix over for me?"
Ms. Anna immediately replied, "Yes, Chief Commander."
Roy sat down opposite Chief Commander Lucius, Chief Commander Lucius then told him, "Recently, the situation on the Empress Ivini Islands has become somewhat chaotic. The war has spread to the surrounding outlying islands. The Elf Warrior of the Silver Pegasus Legion are currently unable to attend to the peripheral islands, giving the Gray Dwarf Bandit a chance to regroup, which has complicated the situation on the surrounding islands."
"The higher-ups want to transfer the Padesto City Guard Regiment to the front lines..."
Upon hearing this, Roy felt a chill run down his spine.
He thought that the war in the Empress Ivini Islands was probably not as optimistic as Chief Commander Lucius had said, otherwise the military high command would not have conscripted the garrison of Padesto City.
"If the Guard Regiment in Padesto City is transferred to the Empress Ivini Islands, then a new Guard Regiment will have to be formed in the city."
Roy didn't quite understand what the formation of the city defense Guard Regiment had to do with him.
While Chief Commander Lucius was briefing Roy on the battle of Empress Ivini Islands, Commander Helix walked in, his crisp military uniform making him look exceptionally smart.
When he saw Roy, Commander Helix's gaze was somewhat complicated, and he could sense an inexplicable jealousy and hostility in Royde's eyes.
"The newly formed city defense Guard Regiment currently only has a little over five hundred Half-Elf Warrior recruited, which is a significant shortfall. We plan to go to Rampart Town to recruit Half-Elf. Considering that you are the governor of Rampart Town, we would like to hear your thoughts," Chief Commander Lucius said.
"Are you going to Rampart Town to recruit Half-Elf?" Roy asked, staring at the Helix Company.
Commander Helix nodded and said, "Indeed, there is such a plan!"
"Perhaps you two are not familiar enough with Rampart Town, please allow me to introduce Rampart Town to you..."
Roy said to Chief Commander Lucius and Commander Helix, "Currently... there are at least 20,000 Half-Elf living in Rampart Town."
The original inhabitants of the Bulwark Village, who were originally Half-Elf natives, now number less than three thousand.
The largest part of the population in Rampart Town should be the Half-Elf Warrior who remained in Rampart Town after the Rebel Army disbanded. This group of Half-Elf probably numbers over 10,000 and currently accounts for at least half of the total population of Rampart Town.
Finally, there were the Half-Elf hunters who had gathered from the villages surrounding Rampart Town. Lord Alvis had designated most of the woodlands Padesto City as his private domain, which led to almost all the Half-Elf living in the woodlands moving to Rampart Town; these Half-Elf numbered approximately several thousand.
Chief Commander Lucius and Commander Helix exchanged bewildered glances.
They had initially worried that the Half-Elf in Padesto City might be remnants of the Rebel Army, but now it seemed that Rampart Town was simply a den of the Rebel Army thieves.
"There are at least 200,000 Half-Elf in Padesto City right now, so recruiting a city defense Guard Regiment shouldn't be too difficult, right?" Roy said after seeing that neither of them spoke.
"..."
Commander Helix wore a sour expression, clearly offended by Roy's words.
However, since Commander Helix wanted to recruit Half-Elf Warrior in Rampart Town, Roy naturally couldn't stop him.
Chief Commander Lucius's summons of Roy was merely a routine notification.
Seeing that Chief Commander Lucius had nothing else to say, Roy took his leave and left the Chief's office.
Commander Berkeley was still waiting in the corridor. When Roy came out, the two friends hugged at the door of Chief Commander Lucius's office.
The two chatted as they walked downstairs.
"I heard you did a great job on the Pagisto Plateau, leading the Mine Guard to drive the Highland Slavers back to their hometown..."
The Commander Berkeley sighed as he recounted these events.
"When we withdrew from the plateau, there were still many mines waiting to be taken over. The guards in many mines received orders from above and were eager to withdraw from the plateau. At that time, the situation on the plateau was chaotic. Later, I heard that the Headhunters rushed out from the Gazan Ancestral Land and were preparing to take over the entire Pagisto Plateau. I was worried about how many mines your Mine Guard could hold. I was relieved when I heard the good news from Padesto City."
Commander Berkeley put his arm around Roy's shoulder and said.
He vividly remembered the ferocity of those Highland Slavers. When the Logistics Regiment was heading from the First Mine to the Valley Camp, they were ambushed by these Highland Slavers. Commander Berkeley was lucky to survive that time...
"How's the situation on the Empress Ivini Islands?" Roy couldn't help but ask in a low voice.
"Come on... we'll talk over there!"
Commander Berkeley led Roy back to his office on the second floor. Commander Berkeley was under the Second Material Transportation Group of the Silver Pegasus Legion.
Their Second Material Transportation Group also has an office area at the Silver Pegasus Military Department in Padesto City.
He is rarely here normally; the two civilian staff members from the logistics transportation team are the ones who stay at the military headquarters.
Recently, Commander Berkeley has been leading the logistics transport regiment, shuttling between the front lines and the logistics warehouses all day long.
Commander Berkeley pushed open the door, and two Silver Moon Elf clerks were gathered around the desk, whispering about something. Roy overheard them saying, "... Commander Helix killed those two Mine Owners on the spot..."
When the Commander Berkeley pushed open the door, he coughed lightly, startling the two female clerks who immediately returned to their seats.
"Ah! Commander Berkeley, you're back."
"This is Roy, the Mine Owners, who is currently in charge of several mines on the Pagisto Plateau," Commander Berkeley formally introduced to the two female clerks. Turning to Roy with a smile, he added, "The two clerks from the Second Material Transportation Group, Daisy and Kelly, are mainly responsible for tallying supplies and relaying information."
Upon hearing Roy's name, the two female clerks' eyes lit up, and they covered their mouths with their small hands, exclaiming in surprise:
"So you're Boss Roy from Pagesto?"
"What's wrong? Is Roy that famous in the military?" Commander Berkeley asked curiously.
"... It's not just in the military headquarters, the whole Padesto City is talking about Boss Roy's glorious deeds recently."
The female employee named Daisy spoke boldly, and then looked at Roy rather proactively.
"Boss Roy's exploits?" Commander Berkeley chuckled, looking at Roy with curiosity.
"Commander Berkeley, you've just arrived in Padesto City, so of course you don't know that he personally went to Padesto City to punish the Mine Owners in the Nikoba Mountain Range, and even Commander Hekelis's help him," Daisy said very tactfully.
"So that's how it is. I thought he came to Padesto City to apply for military supplies..." Commander Berkeley was familiar with the situation on the Pagisto Plateau and knew what Roy needed most at the moment.
"I came to Padesto City to apply for a batch of military supplies. Of course, I also intend to find the Mine Owners who have fled here, since they violated the laws of the Silver Moon Elf Kingdom by trading Elf Slaves with the Highland Slavers and Slave Traders," Roy answered frankly.
