The Situation
The Silver Moon Elf civilian staff stationed at the military headquarters were very well-informed. Daisy, Silver Moon Elf Daisy with a cheerful personality, noticed Roy's gentle nature and couldn't help but ask Roy:
"Boss Roy, I heard you're planning to trade Magic Herbs in Padesto City?"
Roy thought to himself, "Some news must have reached the military."
He nodded and said to Daisy, "Yes! That's a thought I have."
Daisy sat in her chair, her fingers interlaced, her elbows resting elegantly on the armrests, and said to Roy somewhat tactfully, "Do you know... that the trade in Magic Herbs in Pattington has been handled by the Fourth Foreign Trade Group of the Silver Pegasus Legion's Logistics Department for the past few years? Your operation of the Magic Herbs trading company... might affect the Legion's interests?"
She worried that Roy was unaware of this and that if the Legion's higher-ups found out about his unauthorized trading of Magic Herbs, he would likely be punished.
Roy could tell that Commander Berkeley was well-liked within the Second Material Transportation Group and got along well with Daisy and Kelly; otherwise, Miss Daisy would never have offered such a well-intentioned reminder...
The Commander Berkeley did know something about Roy's situation, but he stood aside and did not explain on Roy's behalf.
Roy could only say, "Regarding the trade in Magic Herbs, I submitted an application to Earl Swynborne and obtained the trading permit several months ago. Moreover, I only deal in low-level Magic Herbs, so the Legion's trading in high-level Magic Herbs will not be affected."
Daisy and Kelly exchanged another glance, their eyes sparkling as they looked at Roy, clearly showing their great interest in him.
"A transaction permit personally signed by the Earl Swynborne?"
Daisy asked in surprise, as if she could confirm the truth of the rumor that ' Roy is a favorite of the Earl Swynborne '.
Kelly, who was sitting nearby, couldn't sit still any longer and quickly leaned over to whisper to Roy, "There have been some rumors about you in the military lately, mainly accusing you of privately reselling Magic Metal from the mines and harming the military's interests."
Roy had no idea that rumors about him were already flying around the Silver Pegasus Military Department in Padesto City.
He was almost too tired to argue, so he just let them say what they wanted.
Seeing the expectant looks on the two Silver Moon Elf ladies' faces, Roy could only say helplessly, "This matter was also authorized by Earl Swynborne. When I was managing these mines, Earl Swynborne agreed that half of the mine's output would be handed over to the Silver Pegasus Legion, and the other half could be used by me at my discretion, mainly for maintaining the normal operation and continued development of the mines..."
This is not some secret.
"I can testify to that, because I personally handed this letter to Roy," Commander Berkeley chimed in.
The two Silver Moon Elf ladies never expected that Earl Swynborne would bestow so many favors upon Roy...
"We've also heard that you command nearly ten thousand Half-Elf Warrior on the Pagisto Plateau, but the military has only disbursed three batches of military supplies in the last six months," Miss Kelly continued to tell Roy.
The Commander Berkeley was unaware of this matter...
"What's going on, Roy?" Commander Berkeley asked Kelly in a low voice.
Kelly explained in a low voice, "Due to transportation difficulties, supplies transported from Padesto City to the Pagisto Plateau can only remain in the warehouses here for a long time. Our records show that only three batches of military supplies were taken away by caravans, and their destination was the Pagisto Plateau."
Despite saying that, Commander Berkeley immediately grasped the crux of the problem. He turned to Roy and asked, "Does Chief Commander Lucius have some misunderstanding about you?"
"Um... there is some." Roy rubbed his forehead...
Roy suddenly felt that this matter was a bit hard to explain.
Seeing Roy's troubled expression, Commander Berkeley quickly pulled Roy to the window and asked in a low Roy, "Do you need me to... smooth things over between you and Chief Commander Lucius?"
"Not for now, I've already got my hands on this batch of military supplies." Roy chuckled, pulled a list of supplies from his Magic Pouch, waved it in his hand, and looked somewhat smug.
Then he continued, "My caravan is currently outside Padesto City, and I can come to this warehouse tomorrow to collect military supplies, which will solve my urgent problem."
"Speaking of which, I came back this time to deliver a batch of Gray Dwarf prisoners of war that I applied for earlier," Commander Berkeley said to Roy.
Roy was surprised that the legion's higher-ups actually agreed with his expression...
"You mean the Legion's high command has agreed to let my mine use Gray Dwarf prisoners of war?" Roy asked Commander Berkeley.
Commander Berkeley touched his nose, somewhat embarrassed, and said, "The main problem is that our Prisoner of War Camp are overcrowded. We need to send some Gray Dwarf POWs out. Although there is some controversy about sending POWs to work in the mines, we can only try it out for now."
The topic of the Empress Ivini Islands came up, and since Commander Berkeley had been hesitant and reluctant to speak in the corridor, Roy pressed him for details again:
"By the way, Berkeley, what's the situation in the Empress Ivini Islands?"
Roy had studied Modern Elf History and knew that the Silver Moon Elf and the Naga Sea Clan had fought tooth and nail for the Empress Ivini Islands.
Although the Silver Moon Elf eventually gained sovereignty over the Empress Ivini Islands, the Naga Sea Clan never truly relinquished the reef islands.
However, the Silver Moon Elf are currently fighting the Gray Dwarf Bandit known as the Sea Louse on the Empress Ivini Islands. These bandit groups should be insignificant in the eyes of the Silver Moon Elf regular army.
The Commander Berkeley's expression was somewhat complicated, like someone who had swallowed a fly but couldn't spit it out.
"The situation in the Empress Ivini Islands is rather complicated. We don't know where all these Gray Dwarf Bandit came from. There are so many of them on every island, and they can even dig tunnels all over the mountains. The main force is already exhausted from dealing with them, and the garrison is also frequently attacked by Gray Dwarf Bandit on some of the peripheral islands. The legion's high command can only keep sending more troops to the Empress Ivini Islands."
Roy knew that the Silver Pegasus Warrior in the legion were formidable, and the only weak point was the infantry Guard Regiment. He never expected that they couldn't even defeat the Gray Dwarf Bandit...
"Has the Naga Sea Clan made any moves lately?" Roy asked casually.
Commander Berkeley shook his head and said, "We're still in a wait-and-see mode for now, after all, the truce agreement in Empress Ivini Islands was signed less than a century ago."
Roy was somewhat speechless; a hundred years seemed to be nothing to an elf.
"How many Gray Dwarf prisoners of war did you send over this time?"
"This batch has a thousand people, can we handle it?" Commander Berkeley asked with some concern.
"No problem," Roy replied.
Commander Berkeley was somewhat relieved; dealing with these gray Dwarf Warrior was indeed very troublesome.
He instructed Roy, "Then bring your men tomorrow and make sure to hand over these prisoners of war before I leave."
"I still need to collect some military supplies from this warehouse. I'll be returning to Pattington Island tomorrow night. I was hoping to set off with the Padesto Guard Regiment, but the new army here hasn't been formed yet, so I won't be able to bring the Padesto City Guard Regiment to Empress Ivini Islands this time."
Commander Berkeley clearly hoped that during his time in Padesto City, Roy would take over the Gray Dwarf prisoners of war from him.
"I'll come over tomorrow morning to take over..." Roy agreed.
Roy walked out of the Commander Berkeley's office area and hurriedly left the military headquarters.
Klayr is about to leave Padesto City.
He needed to return to Pattington Island via the Teleportation Portal, and then take the island's seaship back to Castleton City. If he was delayed any longer, he might miss the start of the Elf Academy.
Among the supplies Klayr brought this time, in addition to the six barrels of Tree of Life Sap, the three Magic Furnace were also very valuable.
Three of the giant Magic Crucible, each over two meters in diameter, were considered the core components of the furnace. Klayr transported these three Magic Furnace Magic Furnace from Castleton to Pattington Island by ship, and then used a specially made cart to push them to the Central Square of Padesto City.
The biggest problem with the three Magic Furnace is their weight; transporting them to the Pagisto Plateau by pack animals alone is impossible.
Therefore, Roy could only store these three Magic Furnace in the warehouse.
After sending Klayr back to Pattington Island, Roy led Leishande's caravan to the warehouse behind the Silver Pegasus Military Department. He then presented a supply list bearing Chief Commander Lucius's signature and obtained a portion of military supplies from the logistics department's warehouse, finally filling Leishande's caravan with goods.
Leishande's caravan will leave Padesto City before nightfall...
Roy then found Commander Berkeley and received a thousand Gray Dwarf with their feet in shackles from him. Roy discovered that these prisoners of war were all non-combat dwarves, many of whom were Gray Dwarf craftsmen personally selected by Commander Berkeley for Roy.
There was no place in the city to house these Gray Dwarf prisoners of war, so Roy only let them stay temporarily in a warehouse for one night. The Gray Dwarf then turned that warehouse into a stinking, pigsty.
Left with no other choice, Roy had to return to the Pagisto Plateau ahead of schedule. He personally led the thousand Gray Dwarf prisoners of war away from Padesto City and on foot to the Pagisto Plateau.
