Encounter
Earl Swynborne pointed to the West Reef Islands in the pool and instructed Roy, "This is the rear of the Empress Ivini Islands. Some Silver Moon Elf live on the islands. Your main responsibility when you go there is to maintain local security, clear out the Gray Dwarf, and avoid conflict with the Silver Moon Elf."
"Berkeley will be responsible for logistics and supplies. This time, I will equip the Half-Elf combat regiment you brought with the military equipment of the Legion's light cavalry, and upgrade the Mine Guard to the Pagisto Plateau Local Garrison Regiment."
As he spoke, Earl Swynborne took a regimental badge from a wooden box and pinned it to Roy's chest.
This signifies that Roy has officially been promoted to commander of the Silver Pegasus Legion.
Earl Swynborne patted Roy on the shoulder and said, "This time the Gray Dwarf Bandit are coming in big trouble. Their fleet always lands on the islands at night. You need to be careful over in the West Reef Islands."
"Yes, Your Earl Swynborne!"
Roy gave Earl Swynborne a military salute and said.
When Roy stepped out of the command center, he found a group of officers waiting to see Earl Swynborne. These officers were all Silver Moon Elf, but they did not show any surprise or doubt when they saw Roy come out of the command center.
The Silver Pegasus Military Department on Queen Ivini Island was extremely busy, with clerks constantly seen rushing through the corridors carrying documents.
After meeting Earl Swynborne, Roy planned to return to the dock and board a ship to West Reef Islands.
As I walked down the wooden stairs, I heard a familiar voice behind me:
"Roy, what are you doing here?"
Roy stopped and turned around to see Miss Christine, dressed in a light green rattan armor, with an elven war bow on her back, standing on the landing of the stairs, leaning down to look down. Her beautiful big eyes held a faint smile, and her pursed lips looked very playful.
A beam of light shone through the glass window behind her, passing right by her face and illuminating her pointed ears, making them appear translucent and revealing the fine veins on them.
"Miss Christine, I never expected to see you here!"
Roy was somewhat surprised to see Miss Christine here.
When he left Castleton City last year, he heard that Miss Christine was planning to travel around the Elf Continent.
Miss Christine glanced at the clerks peeking in from the side of the stairs, walked straight up to Roy, pointed to a terrace at the end of the corridor, and said, "Come on, let's go sit over there..."
Roy followed Miss Christine to the terrace on this floor. Several tables were set up on the terrace, and chairs were scattered around them. Several Silver Moon Elf Officer were sitting together chatting.
When they saw Miss Christine arrive on the terrace, followed by a Half-Elf, they all stood up and made way for her.
Miss Christine leaned against the balcony railing, her gaze fixed on the street across the way.
She said to Roy, "Weren't you managing the mines on the Pagisto Plateau? How come you've suddenly come to Queen Ivini Island?"
"Earl Swynborne sent a Conscription Order, so I brought five thousand Half-Elf here. But you, didn't you say you were going to travel around the Elf Continent? How did you end up on Queen Ivini Island?" Roy found a chair and sat down comfortably.
Miss Christine smiled and said, "I had already arrived in Buenos City, but when I heard that fighting had broken out on Queen Ivini Island, I decided to come back!"
"We've clashed with the Naga Sea Clan countless times over these islands, and now so many Gray Dwarf Bandit are involved in the island battle, so of course I have to come back to help..."
Miss Christine sat on the railing, a gentle breeze blowing through the trees, causing her long, silvery hair to flutter in the wind...
"So you've already joined the Silver Pegasus Legion?" Roy asked.
"I am now Christine Knight of the Silver Pegasus Fifth Combat Regiment!" Miss Christine said proudly.
Roy never expected that Miss Christine had become a Silver Pegasus Knight.
Hearing this, Roy looked at Miss Christine with some envy. Miss Christine asked curiously, "Roy, have you received a mission to garrison the outer islands?"
Roy nodded and said, "Got it."
"Where?" Miss Christine asked curiously.
Roy answered truthfully, "Over at West Reef Islands..."
Miss Christine pulled out a finely crafted nautical chart from her Magic Pouch. Looking at the West Reef Islands, she said to Roy, "Those are the islands closest to the Elf Continent in the entire Empress Ivini Islands. Are they going to station guards there now?"
"Yes, it's said that they've discovered traces of Gray Dwarf Bandit."
Miss Christine was about to say something when she heard an elf calling her name from the corridor below the terrace, "Christine, we should go!"
Miss Christine quickly responded, then turned to Roy and said, "My companion is calling me. I have to go out on patrol. I'll come see you in West Reef Islands when I have the chance!"
"Okay!" Roy waved goodbye to Miss Christine.
Miss Christine twisted and leaped from the balcony railing into the ground-floor garden...
By the time Roy reached the balcony railing, Miss Christine had already disappeared into the corridor.
As soon as he stepped out of the Silver Pegasus Military Department, he saw Commander Berkeley waiting in front of the carriage Roy had come in, waving vigorously at Roy.
Roy ran over and hugged the Commander Berkeley. The Commander Berkeley pulled Roy into the carriage and said to Roy, "Let's talk as we go!"
The carriage turned around and headed straight for the port.
Inside the carriage, Commander Berkeley sat opposite Roy and said to Roy, "The Earl has asked me to go to the dock warehouse to collect five thousand sets of light metal armor for you. You will come with me to collect this batch of military equipment."
Roy nodded.
"I still need to send the replaced military equipment back to the port warehouse..." Commander Berkeley continued, "Oh, by the way, have those thousand Gray Dwarf prisoners of war arrived at the Pagisto Plateau yet?"
Roy said, "I set up a Blacksmith Workshop in the North Black Iron Mine, and now almost all of those Gray Dwarf prisoners of Blacksmith Workshop there."
"I saw your most recent supplies request; those supplies can be shipped to Pattington Plane within a week," Commander Berkeley added.
"The situation on the Pagisto Plateau is relatively stable now. I plan to build a Prisoner of War Camp on the edge of the wilderness to hold the Highland Slavers!" Roy said to Commander Berkeley.
Roy lowered his voice and asked Commander Berkeley, "The Silver Pegasus Legion is one of the strongest legions on the Elf Continent. Why are they fighting the Gray Dwarf Bandit for so long this time?"
A commotion arose from the bustling street outside the window. Commander Berkeley said to Roy, "These Gray Dwarf Bandit are very cunning. Their main fleet has been stationed in the waters of Empress Ivini Islands for more than half a year. So far, the two sides have only engaged in small-scale probing battles. Because the fleet is equipped with dwarf heavy crossbows, the Silver Pegasus knights cannot get close to those warships and can only stay on Queen Island."
"In addition, almost every time the Gray Dwarf Bandit plan to seize an island, it is at night, and there is a thick fog on the sea. The Silver Pegasus Knights cannot fight the Gray Dwarf Bandit in the foggy night. The Gray Dwarf Bandit always take the opportunity to attack the islands around Empress Ivini Islands. At this time Silver Pegasus Legion cannot leave Queen Island in its entirety."
"Once the Elf Warrior have cleared out the Gray Dwarf Bandit who have infiltrated the island, these Gray Dwarf Bandit will sneak back into the island's caves or burrows."
"We've been doing this for the past six months, so this time Earl Swynborne has made up his mind to mobilize a Guard Regiment to be stationed on these islands."
After hearing Commander Berkeley's explanation, Roy gained a better understanding of the battle situation on this side.
The battle here is somewhat chaotic. Several main islands of the Empress Ivini Islands have been occupied by the Silver Pegasus Legion, but these Silver Pegasus Knights are unable to take care of the Silver Pegasus in the peripheral areas.
The Gray Dwarf Bandit have infiltrated Empress Ivini Islands in large numbers, clearly determined to fight the Silver Moon Elf Warrior to the bitter end.
The carriage arrived at the port dock, where Silver Moon Elf Warrior Silver Moon Elf Warrior everywhere, some of whom were sitting in the shade by the roadside chatting.
"We suspect that the Naga Sea Clan of the Endless Sea are colluding with the Gray Dwarf in an attempt to seize the waters near the Empress Ivini Islands," Commander Berkeley whispered.
At the entrance of the port warehouse, Commander Berkeley showed the warehouse manager the list of supplies before entering the warehouse to inspect the light cavalry armor inside. This silver light cavalry armor was the standard armor issued to the cavalry by the Silver Pegasus Legion, and these brand-new suits of armor all gleamed with a silvery sheen.
Commander Berkeley, along with a group of logistics personnel, moved the light cavalry armor from the warehouse onto Roy's ship.
The costume-changing activity lasted until evening, after which some food was loaded onto the sailboats before Commander Berkeley left the port.
As the sun set and the evening glow appeared, the fleet raised its sails and left the harbor.
The Half-Elf Warrior on the ship were still in a state of excitement.
None of the Half-Elf Warrior expected that after arriving at the Empress Ivini Islands, although they couldn't disembark and explore the bustling islands, they would receive a set of high-grade light cavalry armor.
I'm so glad this trip was worthwhile...
The fleet sailed with the wind for most of the night before arriving at West Reef Islands of the Empress Ivini Islands.
Because it was nighttime, no one could clearly see what the island looked like.
Moreover, they did not disembark; all the Half-Elf spent the night on the sailboat.
The next morning, a red sun rose from the sea, and the entire island came into clear view. Roy discovered that the fleet had taken them to an island they had passed on their way there.
Standing on the deck, Roy could only make out the pirates' blurry figures.
The fleet is now docked at a small pier on the island. These medium-sized sailboats have a shallow draft and are perfectly capable of docking at such a small pier.
This Coral Reef reef island, completely covered by jungle, is surrounded by a ring of white sand beaches. The entire island is shaped like a pea, and the pier is built on the pea's navel. It is a very simple pier made of logs.
The island isn't very big either; it's probably no more than a kilometer long.
Roy brought five thousand Half-Elf Warrior, but such a small island simply couldn't accommodate so many Half-Elf Warrior, and it was impossible for all twenty sailboats to dock at the island's pier.
This is one of the islands in the West Reef Islands, so Roy only stationed one ship of Half-Elf Warrior on this island.
The remaining ships needed to travel to other islands in the vicinity.
Earl Swynborne said that some Silver Moon Elf also live on the West Reef Islands.
So far, Roy has not found any elves living on the island.
Roy walked out of the dock, pointed to the coconut trees more than 30 meters tall next to the dense forest, and said to the Half-Elf Warrior followed him down, "Build a sentry post here. Although this island is not very big, it is the gateway to the West Reef Islands. When the Gray Dwarf Bandit fleet enters the waters of the West Reef Islands, this place will be the first place to find them."
"Don't rush to set up the tents. Search the island first, and see if there are any traces left by the Gray Dwarf Bandit..."
The island's jungle is overgrown with weeds and vines, and you need a machete to clear a path to enter it.
Roy did not linger on the island. He reboarded the ship at the island's dock, and the fleet sailed into the West Reef Islands. An hour later, three closely connected islands came into Roy's view.
The three islands are said to be connected because at low tide, the exposed sandbars link the three islands together.
But once the tide comes in, the three islands are immediately separated by the sea.
Roy stood on the deck. There were treehouses built in the forests of these three islands, which were obviously inhabited by elves.
Upon seeing a fleet of ships anchored in the sea, a group of Silver Moon Elf emerged from the jungle and stood on the dock, curiously examining the sailboats.
Roy instructed the captain to moor the sailboat at the dock, then nimbly leaped over the ship's side and onto the dock, slowly walking towards the group of Silver Moon Elf.
At that moment, an Old Elf leaning on a cane on the dock looked up at Roy and asked, "Where did you come from?"
He looked very old, but he seemed to be full of strength, and his eyes were so sharp that they seemed to pierce through one's soul.
Roy quickly said, "We came from the main island of Queen Ivini Island, under the orders of Earl Swynborne. We will be stationed on this island for some time to prevent the Gray Dwarf from attacking it."
"That's really good news, you're Half-Elf?"
The Old Elf stepped forward and asked, then glanced at the group of Half-Elf Warrior following Roy.
"Have any traces of Gray Dwarf been found on the island yet?" Roy asked the Old Elf.
The Old Elf shook his head slightly and said to Roy, "There's no sign of the Gray Dwarf Bandit yet..."
