Berkeley's Request
This letter was written by High Priest Reed at the end of last year. Unexpectedly, it took nearly ten months to reach Roy through the Commander Berkeley.
It appears to be a Last Letter before a battle. High Priest Reed doesn't reveal much in the letter, but even in such a desperate situation, he still firmly believes in his faith and longs for light to descend upon the Dark Land.
The letter said that he was very grateful to Roy for finding the Wisdom Holy Grail Wisdom Holy Grail, which was the reason why the Priest could still draw a trace of Holy Power in the Dark Land.
After seeing the letter, Roy was somewhat worried about High Priest Reed's safety.
However, the gate to the Dark Land is in Gorfito, which is also the headquarters of the Goddess of Freedom Temple on the Elf Continent. Roy is not Priest of the Goddess of Freedom Temple, so he has no way of getting close to that gate to the Dark Lands.
Thinking of this, Roy sat down in his chair with a sense of dejection. The dusty construction site in front of him could not block the chill that rose from the bottom of his heart.
Commander Berkeley wanted Roy to go to Padesto City to help him. With the reputation Roy had built among the Half-Elf in the Pattington Plane, it would be incredibly easy for him to establish a Half-Elf guard in Padesto City.
Due to a naval battle that took place in the Empress Ivini Islands, the Silver Pegasus Legion changed its military plans for the next few years, shifting its strategic focus from the Pattington Plane to the Empress Ivini Islands.
The Silver Moon Elf Guard Regiment in Padesto City will also be withdrawing from the Pattington Plane in the coming months.
In that case, the Padesto City would need a Half-Elf Guard Regiment.
The main reason for Chief Commander Lucius's dismissal was his inaction in this matter, which ultimately angered the Silver Pegasus Legion's leadership, leading to his removal from office.
But Roy doesn't want to go to Padesto City, at least not yet.
There are still more than a dozen mines on the Pagisto Plateau that have not yet been rebuilt. The Plateau City is just beginning to take shape. The ten mines under Roy's control have already entered the profit period. In addition, Roy has promised the village chief Tiprado and Kaka that once things have calmed down on the Pagisto Plateau, he will lead the Half-Elf Warrior to advance into Sun Island Bay.
In fact, if the Commander Berkeley had arrived in the Plateau City a few days later, Roy would likely have already embarked on his journey to Sun Island Bay.
Roy was unwilling to take the position of commander of the Half-Elf Guard Regiment in Padesto City, not only because the Plateau City was under construction, but also because there were 15,000 Highland Slavers prisoners of war gathered in the city. If these headhunter prisoners of war were not kept a close eye on, once they started to cause trouble, it would escalate into an uncontrollable situation.
Eighty kilometers away, at the North Black Iron Mine, nearly three thousand Gray Dwarf prisoners of war were gathered...
Roy's Mine Guard Regiment on the Pagisto Plateau currently only has a little over 10,000 Half-Elf Warrior. If these prisoners of war were to riot, it would be difficult for Roy to quell the uprising in a short time with only these Half-Elf Warrior at his disposal. Moreover, the Pagisto Plateau would descend into a chaotic situation of war.
Although Mulin was in charge here, Roy couldn't possibly put all his eggs in one basket with such a young Half-Elf female warrior...
Although Roy did not grant Commander Berkeley's request, Roy did offer Commander Berkeley a suggestion: if he wanted to recruit a Half-Elf Guard Regiment in Padesto City, he should find a powerful Half-Elf with sufficient prestige to stand up for him.
The Commander Berkeley knew this, which is why he traveled all the way here to find Roy, but unfortunately Roy did not agree.
The next morning, Commander Berkeley prepared to leave the Plateau City. He led his horse and several Silver Moon Elf guards up the steps toward the north gate.
Beyond the City Wall built right up to the Tollai River, the Commander Berkeley could see herds of Unicorn Wild Ox and antelopes grazing on the vast plains.
At this time of year, the Tollai River receive abundant rainfall, and the river water overflows onto the stone foundation beneath the City Wall. It is evident that Roy took the Tollai River into full consideration when he built these City Wall.
On the side near the Tollai River, the Plateau City even built a dock, with stone steps leading all the way to the river, above which is a large square.
Some caravans that had come from Padesto City had set up stalls in the square...
Commander Berkeley could foresee that before long, this Plateau City would become the most prosperous place in the entire Pagisto Plateau, attracting a large number of Half-Elf and more caravans to do business here.
Berkeley still remembered the first time he met Roy. At that time, Roy was just a guide in the Vanguard Cavalry Regiment. Commander Berkeley just felt that it was really strange for a Half-Elf to appear in the Silver Pegasus Legion...
When I met Roy for the second time, Roy had already been appointed as the Mine Owners of the First Mine by the Earl Swynborne.
At that time, he was still wondering why Earl Swynborne would let such a young Half-Elf become a Mine Owners. He wondered what the Earl was thinking and even talked to him about it, hoping that he could take care of this young Half-Elf as much as possible in terms of logistical supplies.
Berkeley later discovered that this young Half-Elf was truly insightful and had unique perspectives on handling various affairs of the mine.
He is not Silver Moon Elf, therefore he will not discriminate against Half-Elf or Dark Moon Elf in any way, and is basically able to be fair and impartial...
So he handled the problems at the First Mine very well, and then came the second, the third... until now the Mine Guard Regiment have occupied the entire Pagisto Plateau and defeated the Highland Slavers.
The Silver Pegasus Knight Order, who came to the Pagisto Plateau back then, failed to accomplish these things...
Now Roy has begun building a Plateau City in the heart of the Pagisto Plateau. Judging from the outline of the City Wall, Commander Berkeley estimates that once the Plateau City is completed, it will be able to accommodate hundreds of thousands of Half-Elf residents.
However, it is currently estimated that the number of Half-Elf in the entire Pagisto Plateau will not exceed 100,000.
Just as Commander Berkeley was lost in thought, Roy caught up with him from behind.
The street has been paved with stone slabs and steps, and the drainage ditch on the left side of the road has also been repaired. All that's left is to cover the ditch with stone slabs. Once that's done, the street will be considered partially completed. In the future, it may be necessary to build narrow flower beds and roadside trees.
The horses' hooves made a very crisp sound as they stepped on the hollow Hollow Brick road.
"Commander Berkeley, wait!" Roy rode up to Commander Berkeley Commander Berkeley, dismounted, and stopped him.
"What's wrong? Roy, have you changed your mind? Are you planning to come back to Padesto City with me?" A glimmer of hope appeared in the eyes of the Commander Berkeley.
Roy laughed awkwardly and said, "How could that be! You see, how could I leave the Plateau City at this time!" As he spoke, he pointed to the headhunter prisoners of war digging ditches below the mound.
"Commander Berkeley, although I can't go with you to Padesto City to form the Half-Elf Guard Regiment, I think there's someone who can help you with this. Don't rush off; let me ask around for you..."
Roy said to Commander Berkeley.
When Roy realized that the Commander Berkeley had traveled all the way to the Pagisto Plateau to ask for his help, Roy knew that this matter must be urgent.
Commander Berkeley stopped and stared intently at Roy...
Leishande has been staying in the Plateau City for the past few days. His caravan has brought a large amount of supplies from the Padesto City, most of which are supplies for the Mine Guard Regiment.
Because Roy controls the highland mines, he currently sources most of the supplies for the Mine Guard Regiment he has formed on the plateau.
The Silver Pegasus Legion only provided Standard Armaments equipment and supplies, which Roy also paid for.
Some of these supplies were purchased directly from Padesto City, while others were transported from Castleton City.
The main reason Leishande stayed in the Plateau City was that Roy wanted him to go to Padesto City and bring back some building materials that were scarce there, such as Rope Net, locks, and craftsmen's shovels.
In addition, after each long journey, Leishande would rest for a few days before setting off again, as was customary...
The Plateau City has a dedicated warehouse area for storing supplies and materials. Next door is the military camp of the Mine Guard Regiment. Currently, nearly seven thousand Half-Elf Warrior are stationed in the Plateau City.
Roy walked into the courtyard where Leishande lived and saw that the courtyard was full of carpets, and Leishande was sitting in the courtyard checking some accounts.
Roy walked straight over, sat down opposite Leishande, and asked Leishande, who was checking the accounts:
"Leishande, the Padesto City is currently forming Half-Elf Guard Regiment. What are your thoughts on this?"
Leishande raised his weathered face; he looked older than most Half-Elf, his skin rough, but his eyes gleamed with wisdom. A faint smile played on his lips, "Boss, do you simply want my personal opinion, or are you planning to do something else...?"
Roy touched his nose somewhat awkwardly and said to Leishande, "As you know, there are many changes within the Silver Pegasus Legion. Just two days ago, Chief Commander Lucius was dismissed, which has caused a lot of chaos in Padesto City."
The newly appointed governor of Padesto City needs to improve the situation while also forming a Half-Elf Guard Regiment.
"Um... I just thought we should give this trusted governor some help, help him build up a Half-Elf Guard Regiment, which would increase the Half-Elf in Padesto City!"
Leishande looked at Roy: "So, Boss Roy, are you planning to go to Padesto?"
"I need to keep an eye on the Plateau City, and while I'm at it, I'll head to Sun Island Bay and solve all the problems with the Fishmen Monster there!" Roy said. "So, I'd like to ask you to go to Padesto City and help Commander Berkeley assemble a 5,000 -Half-Elf Guard Regiment."
Leishande stared at Roy with wide eyes and asked in a low voice, "So you're dumping this troublesome thing on me?"
Roy thought Leishande didn't want to get involved...
But then, Leishande leaned close to Roy's ear and whispered, "If the leader of the newly formed Half-Elf Guard Regiment could be a Half-Elf, this matter should be pretty much settled!"
Sure enough, the Half-Elf were still quite concerned about who their boss was...
With Leishande's promise, Roy quickly said, "That's great, I'll go contact Commander Berkeley right away..."
In fact, the Commander Berkeley didn't have many options in this matter; he had to handle these things as well as possible in the early stages of his term.
The situation in Padesto City is still chaotic, so he needs to get back to Padesto City as soon as possible.
Roy proposed forming Half-Elf Guard Regiment, but the Guard Regiment's leader had to be a Half-Elf. Commander Berkeley agreed without hesitation.
Then Roy took Leishande to meet with Commander Berkeley.
"Commander Berkeley, I've brought the person over. You two can have a good talk!" Roy Yiren was still outside the room, but her voice carried in...
Commander Berkeley strode forward, glanced at Leishande, and then said, "Isn't Captain Leishande specifically there to transport supplies for you?"
"That's right. Leishande has connections with many Half-Elf in Padesto City. If he gets involved, it shouldn't be too difficult to form Half-Elf Guard Regiment."
Roy recommended Leishande to the Commander Berkeley.
Leishande and Commander Berkeley spent the entire morning discussing the matter and reached an agreement that satisfied both sides.
Commander Berkeley was in a hurry to return to Padesto City, so Leishande immediately gave up his short vacation in the Plateau City and led a large caravan loaded with Magic Herbs to Padesto City.
Three days after Commander Berkeley left Plateau City, Roy led a force of two thousand Half-Elf Warrior from Plateau City, heading south through the Sudaso Mountain Range and arriving in the Southern Plateau.
At the Second Spinel Mine, Roy managed to gather a thousand Half-Elf Warrior, and under the leadership of Kaka and his group of Griffon Cavalry, they left the Pagisto Plateau and headed towards Sun Island Bay on the south side of the Griffon Bulwark Mountain Range.
Sun Island Bay is located south of the Griffon Bulwark Mountain Range, and the fastest way for the army to enter the bay is to cross it via Aperture No.3...
This is obviously not very realistic, and the Pagisto Plateau is located at the western end of the Griffon Bulwark Mountain Range. To cross Aperture No.3, one must reach Rampart Town.
Following the marching route provided by Kaka, Roy could lead his army around the western side of the Griffon Bulwark Mountain Range.
Although after bypassing the Bulwark Mountain Range, there will be a fault zone hundreds of kilometers long, at least there the Half-Elf Warrior won't need to climb the mountains...
The obstacle blocking the Elf Warrior ' advance was merely a formidable barrier. With the help of the Griffon Cavalry, building a ladder that stretched downwards across this barrier would be far easier than scaling the Bulwark Mountain Range.
