Background / History

Liu Qingfeng was originally an elder of the Spirit Sword Sect before serving as the Heavenly Xuan Sect's Inner Sect Grand Elder. He was also a key figure in the campaign that destroyed the Nether Corpse Sect three hundred years earlier, leaving him knowledgeable about its Gold, Silver, and Bronze Corpse Puppets. 108 110 199

While serving the Heavenly Xuan Sect, he retained ties to the Spirit Sword Sect. When Spirit Sword Sect disciple Pei Xingye attempted to seize Qiao Ling'er over an alleged debt, Liu Qingfeng recognized the accusation as an excuse but nevertheless sided with Pei, offered a token payment, and allowed him to take her away. He used Golden Core pressure against Mountain Severing Peak disciples who objected. 109 110

Lin Ye's death drew Liu Qingfeng into Shen Fan's long-term trap. He regarded Lin Ye as “half a son,” personally confirmed his death from bloodstains, and uncovered the Corpse Puppets Shen Fan had hidden nearby. To conceal the discovery, Liu Qingfeng killed and burned the bodies of twelve enforcement disciples who had witnessed it. 197 199

He secretly sought the Nether Corpse Sect's techniques, exchanging Corpse Puppets for the Nine Nether secret arts. After learning that Corpse Puppets required Blood Essence, he used his own accumulated reserves and sect resources to nurture and refine nearly seventy of them. 201 202

Liu Qingfeng's private army and growing ambition brought him into direct conflict with Sect Leader Xue Qingtian. Lured to the Yunxia Mountain Range by a false report, he fought Xue Qingtian and Feng Daoling, initially overwhelming them with his Corpse Puppet formations, Nine Palaces Black Banner, and Four Swords of Evil Subjugation. 203 204

Although he severely injured Xue Qingtian, Liu Qingfeng was in turn gravely wounded by Xue Qingtian and Feng Daoling. He escaped to Azure Wave Province, where he mistakenly trusted Shen Fan—Feng Daoling's disciple—to shelter him while he recovered. Shen Fan ambushed him with Corpse Puppets and a succession of techniques, killing him and devouring his soul. 205 206 207 208

Personality

Liu Qingfeng was calculating, authoritative, and intensely ambitious. He viewed the Corpse Puppets as the foundation for challenging Xue Qingtian's rule, and he was prepared to leave the Heavenly Xuan Sect or kill its sect leader if that secured his position. 202 203

He was also ruthless in protecting his secrets, killing the enforcement disciples who discovered the hidden Corpse Puppets without hesitation. 199

Despite this cruelty, he showed genuine attachment to Lin Ye, whose death provoked a violent reaction and drove Liu Qingfeng to investigate personally. 199

Death and Aftermath

While recovering in Azure Wave Province, Liu Qingfeng trapped Shen Fan inside the Nine Palaces Black Banner and asked him for help, unaware that Shen Fan was Feng Daoling's disciple and architect of his downfall. Shen Fan used Corpse Puppets, formations, Blood Spirit Qi, and multiple finishing techniques to kill him. 206 207

Shen Fan devoured Liu Qingfeng's soul, seized his Four Swords of Evil Subjugation and other possessions, and later refined Liu Qingfeng's corpse into a puppet that could still wield the four swords. 208 223 236
