"Oh, my God, I hope I listed everything correctly!" Lupin replied solemnly as people crowded around the front doors, eager to get out into the sunlit grounds. The four Marauders entered the throng as well. "First, he's sitting in my seat. Second, he's wearing my clothes. Third, his name is Remus Lupin."
"Ha ha ha ha!"
Sirius Black and James Potter burst into unrestrained laughter.
Only Wormtail did not laugh.
"I, I wrote down the shape of the mouth and nose, the pupils of the eyes, and the furry tail," Wormtail said anxiously. "B-but I can't remember anything else—"
"Oh, Merlin, how can you be so stupid, Wormtail?" James began growling impatiently. "Every month, you go running around with a werewolf—"
"Merlin, James, could you keep your voice down?" Lupin pleaded.
Harry glanced back uneasily. Snape was still not far away, bent over his exam paper—but this was Snape's memory, Harry was sure of it. If Snape decided to wander off in another direction as soon as he reached the grounds, then Harry would have no way to keep following James. But, to his immense relief, when James and his three friends strode across the lawn and down the slope toward the lake, Snape, still studying his paper, followed them, apparently not having decided where to go. Harry stayed a short distance ahead of Snape, doing his best to keep James and the others in sight.
"Hmph, I thought those questions were easy," Harry heard Sirius say. "I reckon I got at least an 'Outstanding,' or I'll eat my hat."
"Me too," James said. Then he slipped one hand into his pocket and pulled out a struggling Golden Snitch.
"Oh, Merlin! Where did you get that?"
"Stole it," James said carelessly. He began playing with the Snitch, letting it fly
