"No—!" Harry cried despairingly at the pile of exam papers before him.
Tierra raised his hand, pressed two fingers together, and poked Harry squarely in the forehead, signaling for him to stop struggling and accept reality.
"Harry, you're already a big boy. You must understand what good final exam results and a thorough store of knowledge mean for a wizard your age. You need to know that no matter what happens, even if the Philosopher's Stone is stolen, it is nowhere near as important as your studies." Tierra spoke in a kind and benevolent tone.
"But... but..." Anxiety, a sense of responsibility, and irritation at not wanting to do math problems tangled together inside Harry. He knew Tierra's words made sense, but the moment he saw those stacks upon stacks of questions, his eyes swam and his head spun.
"Okay... okay, Tierra, I understand," Harry said quietly. "I'll make revision my top priority and make sure I'm as prepared as possible for the exams."
"Very good, Harry. Do a paper first." Tierra smiled faintly and waved his hand. A test paper covered in writing abruptly appeared in midair, then drifted lightly down in front of Harry.
"Ah! I think I forgot to bring a pen!" Harry cried. "I'll go back and get one."
"No need." Tierra pressed Harry, who had just begun to rise, back into his seat and conjured a pen out of thin air.
Harry felt as if Tierra's hand on his shoulder weighed a thousand pounds.
"How about I take the paper back and do it there?" Harry came up with another excuse. "Then I won't disturb you. You're pretty busy too."
"No, do it here." Tierra said calmly. "If there's anything you don't understand, I can explain it to you."
