Background / History

Song Xiuyan originated from the Song Clan of the Heaven Dou Empire and inherited its Three-Bladed Dagger martial soul. A renowned prodigy, he reached Soul Douluo at forty years old before vanishing from public view under unknown circumstances. 55

He raised his daughter, Song Yu, another Three-Bladed Dagger prodigy with Innate Full Soul Power. Song Yu later married Ning Fanli of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect despite Song Xiuyan's reservations. 55

When Song Yu entered Goddess of Flowers Valley amid a struggle for the godly inheritance there, Song Xiuyan rushed to reach her. He found the valley devastated and witnessed the aftermath of Song Yu being killed by enormous vines while saving an elder of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He exhausted his Soul Power bringing her away from the valley, after which his hair turned white and his body began to age prematurely. 74

Qian Daoliu took Song Xiuyan back to Spirit Hall and preserved his life. Song Xiuyan initially refused to speak or even suppress his own aging, and was eventually placed at Spirit Hall Academy. When he later attempted to reclaim Song Yu's surviving child from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Fanli had him thrown out; the humiliation deepened Song Xiuyan's hatred of Ning Fanli and the sect. 74 107

The Flower God later revealed that Song Yu had sacrificed herself to contain Evil Power within Goddess of Flowers Valley, while Song Xiuyan's lingering condition resulted from that Evil Power invading him years earlier. 144
