"What are you planning to do?"
Pythia watched Nelson pull out his wand and flex his joints, and she instinctively took a few steps back. He drew a circle on the ground with his wand, closed one eye, and took aim.
"What else?" Nelson answered as if it were obvious. "The thing I've been doing most lately—digging holes."
"Digging holes?" Pythia looked confused.
"I've been digging underground these past few days, starting from the fissures beneath the Temple of Apollo." Nelson lifted his eyelids and pointed his wand at the circle he had drawn, then stuffed a silver bolt into the earth. "Stand back. Careful."
Pythia had only just retreated a few steps to the side of the house when a booming bang erupted ahead. The ground shook violently, and every building on the hilltop rattled hard. Several structurally weak houses in the distance collapsed as well. Nelson's position was swallowed by thick smoke. The outer layer of the earthen wall fell onto her head, but she paid it little mind, staring without blinking at the spot where the dust and smoke had risen.
"If that bolt were stuck into Herpo the Foul's..."
She could not help imagining it, until the gunsmoke dispersed and Nelson's figure appeared.
Nelson was crouching on the ground. Beside him was a smoking hole. He tapped the ground with his wand, and a detailed sand table of The Peninsula began to be slowly outlined by dust. The Peninsula was surrounded by hazy steam, which Pythia recognized as the ocean. He poked a spot on the upper half, and a glowing Little Sun appeared there.
"This is Delphi, the city-state where the Temple of Apollo is located."
Then several dotted lines extended from the Little Sun's position, shooting straight in every direction, while one of them
