Hearing that, Ye Lan felt a surge of gratitude. But then again, Kakashi treated all his students this way. What was even more precious was that Ye Lan also had quite a favorable impression of Kakashi. He hoped his days under Kakashi's guidance would be happy.
When they arrived at the dormitory, Ye Lan gave the room a quick look-over. It was not large, only around twenty square meters, with a simple bathroom, a bed, a desk, and some bedding. There was nothing else. Ye Lan touched the bed and found that the bedding was all new, practically unused. Satisfied, Ye Lan nodded and said, "Thank you so much."
Kakashi waved his hand with a smile. "It's nothing. This is what I should do. If you have nothing else to do, get some rest. Tomorrow, come take the entrance exam with Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke."
Ye Lan froze for a moment, then asked, "Entrance exam? What entrance exam?" Kakashi said, "You don't know about this? Every student who graduates from the Ninja Academy has to report to me and take my test. If they pass, they become my students. If they fail, they can only return to their original Ninja Academy to study for another year before taking the exam again."
"Of course, my test is very easy for some people, but very difficult for others. I wonder whether you'll be able to pass."
Ye Lan said confidently, "Don't worry, Sensei. I'll do my best to pass."
Kakashi then said to Ye Lan, "All right. Get some proper rest; I'll be going first. If there are any new developments or instructions from the Hokage, I'll let you know. Don't overthink the rest. As for dinner, just find something to eat yourself. Oh, right, Ye Lan. There's a ramen shop not far from here called Ichiraku Ramen. It's a particularly famous little restaurant in Konoha. You could give it a try. I hear Naruto really likes going there too."
"You can go have a taste. Maybe you'll even run into Naruto there." Ye Lan smiled and nodded. "Then I won't keep you any longer, Kakashi-sensei." Kakashi smiled, then turned and left the room.
Ye Lan quickly washed up and lay down on the bed. After being busy all day, he truly was exhausted. Before long, wrapped in the warm blankets, Ye Lan fell soundly asleep. When he opened his eyes again, it was already night. Judging by the time, it was probably around six or seven in the evening. Just as he was about to head out for dinner, he suddenly noticed two masked men standing beside his door. Ye Lan was startled, but their attire was familiar. Weren't they members of Konoha's Anbu?
Still, Ye Lan pretended not to know and asked, "Who are you? Why are you here?" He watched the two of them vigilantly.
The masked man on the left said to Ye Lan, "We are from Konoha's Anbu. We heard that you're an outsider who has newly arrived in Konoha, so we came to discuss something with you. Are you interested?"
Ye Lan raised an eyebrow. These two are Anbu. What could they want with me? Could Danzo have sent them? But I don't even know Danzo. Why would he seek me out?
Ye Lan smiled at the masked man on the left. "Whether I'm interested depends on what you want to discuss. If you're planning to arrest me and make me do some sort of thing, how could I possibly agree?"
