Midterm Assessment

Kakashi looked at them and continued, "Any objections?"

"No!" they answered in unison.

Kakashi smiled. "Then the assessment begins now!"

Whoosh!!

The instant the assessment began, Ye Lan, Sakura, and Sasuke dashed into the distant grass at top speed and concealed themselves.

Because at the Ninja Academy, they had learned that when confirming a target's movements and preparing to act, the best approach was to hide first. Only by remaining still and waiting for movement could they seize the right moment and defeat the enemy in a single strike!

And now, the target was right before them: the Bells hanging from Kakashi's waist. They only needed to wait for the right opportunity, because Kakashi was a Jonin. Trying to snatch them head-on would be extremely unwise.

As Kakashi read Make-Out Paradise, he discreetly observed the movements of the others.

Sakura and Sasuke were both hidden in the bushes, their bodies completely covered by the surrounding foliage. Unless someone paid close attention, they would never notice them.

Then Kakashi glanced to the side. When he saw Ye Lan, his eyelid twitched uncontrollably...

Ye Lan was sprawled openly in the grass nearby, muttering something incoherently.

He had actually fallen asleep!!

This guy really is an oddball. That was Kakashi's first thought.

Kakashi was not the only one surprised. Even Sakura and Sasuke frowned, wondering if this guy had simply given up.

Just as everyone's attention was focused on Ye Lan, Naruto's voice suddenly rang out behind Kakashi. "Hey!! Kakashi, get ready to take my attack!"

Kakashi turned to look at Naruto, who was standing right behind him, and smiled. "Are you really planning to attack like this? Didn't you learn at the Ninja Academy that you should hide first?"

Naruto froze for a moment, then said awkwardly, "The teachers at school always had such stern faces. They were no fun at all, so I basically slept through class."

Kakashi did not know whether to laugh or cry. Sure enough, this guy's way of thinking is beyond ordinary people's understanding.

Then Naruto formed hand seals. "Multiple Shadow Clone Technique!"

In an instant, dozens of clones identical to Naruto appeared around him.

Kakashi was a little surprised.

Rank A Ninjutsu—wasn't that something only Jonin could learn? How did this kid know it too?

After all, the Shadow Clone Technique was different from an ordinary Clone Technique. The Clone Technique was mainly used to confuse enemies, while Shadow Clones were far more advanced. Every clone created possessed the same strength as the original and was even tougher than the original body.

Kakashi did not make any move, and Naruto led all his clones in a direct rush at him.

Naruto was not slow, yet Kakashi showed no reaction at all. He looked completely absorbed in the Make-Out Paradise in his hands.

Naruto seized the chance. All the clones rushed forward and grabbed Kakashi, while some quickly reached for the Bells at his waist.

The Bells were right before him. Just as Naruto thought he was about to succeed, Kakashi suddenly moved. His body shook, and every clone was flung far away before vanishing.

Kakashi himself seemed completely unconcerned, utterly unaffected as he continued reading the book in his hands.

The instant the clones vanished, Naruto seized the opportunity to suddenly appear behind Kakashi and laughed. "Haha, Kakashi, you fell for it!"
