Arriving at the garage, Jiang Hao saw the old orange-red pickup. It had a rounded hood, rounded wheel arches, faded paint, and patches where the paint had peeled away, leaving rust everywhere. Jiang Hao looked at Uncle Billy. "Uncle, this truck must have quite a history, right? I feel like it's older than me."
"Strictly speaking, it's even older than I am. This truck was made in 1963." Billy smiled and patted the body.
"Whoa, then it could be considered an antique. Can it still run?" Jiang Hao asked curiously.
"Not a problem at all. It's still sturdy, and the engine has been well maintained. It's an iron beast that'll never break down. I think it can keep running for another twenty years." Billy said with a smile.
Jiang Hao got in and turned the key. To his surprise, the truck started immediately. At first, it sputtered, but after he stepped on the gas a few times, the engine began to roar. It sounded surprisingly powerful, like a seventy-year-old cowboy still able to ride a horse and herd sheep.
Jiang Hao had Jacob drive his pickup, and the two vehicles soon arrived in Forks Town. Forks Town was truly small, with only two traffic lights and a population of a few thousand. There were no skyscrapers here. It had once been a logging district and was fairly lively, but after the logging industry shut down, the entire town had become somewhat desolate.
The cars stopped in front of a two-story wooden house. Nearly every house here looked like this. Jiang Hao honked twice, and someone poked his head out of a window. It was Officer Charlie. He waved downstairs, then soon came out with a girl.
Bella, the protagonist of this movie—a complicated girl. Lonely, kind, independent, and intensely curious.
