Back at the hotel, Jane still could not calm herself. Curled up in the soft bed, she stared wide-eyed at the intricate patterns on the ceiling.

When they parted earlier, they had exchanged phone numbers.

"What do you need?" Jane asked softly.

"I was just checking whether this phone worked. Also, I wanted to see if you were asleep," Jiang Hao said.

"I'm not asleep," Jane said quietly.
