Night fell.
A half-moon hung in the sky tonight, providing fairly good light.
Jiang Hao and Lara selected their weapons. Both chose hunting bows, though Lara's was forty pounds while Jiang Hao's was fifty. They each took thirty arrows, no more. The arrows had no heads, only foam tips the size of marbles.
They also selected daggers, ropes, and other items. According to the rules, they could set ambushes and traps in the wilderness to catch each other, though naturally, none of the traps could be lethal.
Just then, the butler Hori and the driver returned by car. Hori said to Lara and Jiang Hao, "Everything is ready. The target item is in the forest. It gives off a faint red glow and can be seen from about ten meters away. If you two are ready, I'll begin the timer."
The two looked at each other and nodded together.
Hori took out a stopwatch and said, "The jungle treasure contest begins now. Whoever kills their opponent and retrieves the treasure wins. The time limit is one hour. If either condition has not been met after one hour, your mission will be considered a failure."
"The timer starts now." With that, he pressed the timer.
Jiang Hao and Lara exchanged another glance, then ran toward the jungle together. Neither was slow, and five minutes later, they entered the forest almost simultaneously.
The so-called target treasure was merely a glow-stick flashlight wrapped in cloth, giving off only a faint light. Unless someone came within five or six meters, it would be extremely difficult to spot.
Not only did they need to bring back the treasure, but they also had to kill their opponent. The methods were unrestricted—shooting with bows, close-quarters attacks, hidden ambushes, traps, and so on. As long as they could
