Background

Lara is the daughter of explorer and archaeologist Count Hensley Crawford. Her mother died when Lara was young, while her father disappeared during an expedition when Lara was thirteen. She initially resisted accepting the Crawford inheritance because doing so meant accepting that he was gone. 796 809

She studies archaeology at London University and is introduced to Jiang Hao through her friend Miranda after hearing of his Occultism course. Seeking answers about her father’s disappearance, she brings Jiang Hao Hensley’s notebook concerning Queen Himiko and the lost island of Yamatai. 788
