Two fighter jets streaked across the sky, thunderous sonic booms rolling through the air as they quickly vanished.
It was an American bombing operation. War was everywhere here; there was no longer any safe homeland.
Jiang Hao checked the GPS and pointed at the continuous mountain range ahead. "We'll be entering the mountains soon. Let's hope the coordinates aren't too far off."
"My father's notes said the Prophet's ancient tomb was hidden among the cliffs of some lost city. Legend says the Prophet was buried in an oasis," Lara said.
"Let's go."
They left the motorcycles far behind. Lara and Jiang Hao lay prone on a bare mountainside, looking down at a group of people moving in and out below.
"What's going on?" Lara asked with a frown.
Jiang Hao got a clear look at their outfits and said grimly, "They should be Holy Trinity mercenaries. How could they have gotten here ahead of us? It looks like they've already found the Prophet's tomb."
Jiang Hao knew it had not happened this way in Lara's game. Lara was supposed to find the Prophet's tomb, discover the location of the Holy City, and then lead Holy Trinity to the Holy City in Siberia. So why had Holy Trinity arrived here first?
"Lara, I suspect Holy Trinity learned about our plan, and they know every detail of it," Jiang Hao said.
Lara frowned deeply. "Is there still a spy around me? Who could it be? Hori? Bryce? I don't believe it."
Lara truly did not want to believe that they were traitors.
"We can deal with that later. What do you think we should do next?" Jiang Hao asked.
"I don't know either." Lara shook her head.
