Background / History
Hongjun survived Pangu’s opening of heaven and earth and later contended with Demon Ancestor Luohu for the Dao lineage. He united with Ancestor Yang Mei, Yin-Yang Daoist, and Ancestor Wu Xing against Luohu; Yang Mei was severely wounded, while Yin-Yang and Wu Xing were reduced to true spirits. After attaining the Dao, Hongjun used the River of Creation to revive the latter two. 2 4
He merged with the Heavenly Dao and became the Primordial World’s Dao Ancestor. His personal ambition was to forge a Chaos Heaven, return to the Chaos World, gather surviving Chaos Demon Gods, and shatter Primordial Chaos. 1 2
When Mythical Nuwa appeared and created the Yan and Huang Human Race, Hongjun’s Divine Sense detected that she was not native to the Primordial World. Her power terrified him for the first time: he concluded that even the full strength of the Heavenly Dao could not defeat her. 1 He secretly lent Nuwa the Heavenly Dao River and an additional seven layers of primordial origin during her clash with Mythical Nuwa, but Chen Xuan crushed Nuwa’s River of Creation into a drop of water and forced Hongjun to withdraw his aid. 2
Recognizing Chen Xuan’s overwhelming superiority, Hongjun changed his stance. He founded the Dao Teachings, vowed to follow the Dao Venerable, and warned Jieyin and Zhunti that the Primordial World’s expansion could allow them to surpass the limits of Sainthood. 4
After Chen Xuan arranged the Divine Court Academy, Hongjun became its vice principal. He later encouraged academy deans and Children of Fortune to earn points, helped deliberate the academy’s trial system, and received its first students as the Dao Ancestor. 10 11 29 30
Hongjun’s breakthrough came when Chen Xuan opened the Thirty-Ninth Heavens, freeing him from constraints imposed by Pangu’s will. He reached the first level of the Supreme Primordial Chaos and thanked Chen Xuan as his teacher. 15
During the conflict in the Divine World, Hongjun joined the Eastern gods in defending the Yanhuang descendants. He destroyed Zeus’s physical body with a glance, prevented Vidar from self-destructing, and ordered the surviving Western gods and their people to be eternally confined in severed space. 20 21 22
Personality
Hongjun is calculating and highly conscious of power. Faced with Mythical Nuwa, he quickly assessed the disparity between them, abandoned direct opposition, and adopted respectful forms of address rather than treating Chen Xuan as an equal. 1 2 26
He is ambitious about transcending the Primordial World’s limits, but he also acts as a pragmatic guardian of its development. He urged other cultivators to stop pursuing petty gains, supported expansion of the world, and pushed Divine Court Academy’s members to gather points and strengthen their respective lineages. 4 11
His restraint disappears when Yanhuang civilization is threatened. Learning that Yanhuang descendants had endured a thousand years of repression in the Divine World, he responded with cold anger and personally led the Eastern gods’ intervention. 15 19 20
