Background and History
Sara was Rōran's princess and became its queen shortly before a battle between Future Masahiko and the Sage of Six Paths destroyed the country. Future Masahiko left her with the present Masahiko, who took responsibility for her after she learned of Rōran's loss 206 210 211. He later learned that she was the last descendant of Rōran's royal line and that her bloodline was connected to his future self 418.
Sara was fifteen or sixteen when Masahiko brought her to Konoha. They agreed to call each other father and daughter, though the circumstances of their relationship initially made both of them uncertain. During their five-day journey, they grew more comfortable together 212. Sara moved into Masahiko's Taobao Shop, where he taught her basic ninja knowledge, carving, and medicine making 212 213.
Rather than pursue either craft, Sara chose to learn ramen-making from Teuchi at Ichiraku Ramen. She began without cooking experience, but continued practicing until Masahiko could hardly distinguish her ramen from Teuchi's 214 227. She initially declined Teuchi's offer to manage a branch in the Land of Whirlpools because she wanted to remain in Konoha. She later went there when Masahiko planned to return and did not want to leave her behind 248 270.
When Masahiko disappeared for several years and was reported dead, Sara believed the news. She embraced him in tears when he returned to her shop 275 276. Teuchi later left the Land of Whirlpools shop to her and the Konoha shop to their fellow apprentice Matsumoto 416.
