Background / History

Kushina was born as Nanako's granddaughter and was regarded as the “little princess” of the Land of Whirlpools. Her birth drew an unusually urgent reaction from her great-grandfather, Uzumaki Masahiko, who immediately abandoned other business to meet her. 110

At nearly five years old, she began ninja training under Masahiko. Her newly extracted Chakra agitated the half of the Nine-Tails sealed in Masahiko's cup, leading him to suspect that her Chakra possessed a natural restraining effect on the beast. 129

Masahiko arranged an exchange-student program between the Uzu Ninja Village and Konoha academies partly to bring Kushina to Konoha. She initially resisted staying in the Land of Whirlpools, finding school boring and skipping classes, but later traveled to Konoha as one of the exchange students. 140 141

Kushina and Minato Namikaze both failed their first graduation examination because of nervousness. They repeated the year together, and Kushina remained determined to pass and graduate. 168 169

Personality

Kushina is strong-willed and direct. As a child, she openly complained about being barred from Konoha and skipped academy lessons out of boredom; as a student, she insisted on completing her assessment despite earlier failure. 140 169

She is deeply protective of her family. Her concern for Yuexia made her accept extensive security around their home, even when it caused her embarrassment, and she ultimately gave Naruto the Nine-Tails to save his life. 518 541

Following Mito's death, Kushina accepted the responsibility of housing the Nine-Tails. Masahiko taught her how to approach and seal its unconscious Chakra, while Nanako provided the final support needed to complete the seal. 234 235

Marriage and Family

Kushina sought Masahiko's help in learning whether Minato's Hokage candidacy was secure, demonstrating her concern for his future. 269 Konoha's Elder Council subsequently arranged their marriage, with Masahiko officiating the ceremony. 271

She later raised Naruto with Minato and gave birth to Yuexia on the moon. Yuexia was identified as the second Uzumaki known to possess a Sage Body, after Nagato. 407

Final Conflict and Resurrection

Kushina fought alongside Naruto against Teuchi, remaining cautious when he demonstrated Space Ninjutsu. Minato intervened before Teuchi could seize either of them. 530

When Naruto collapsed after the Nine-Tails was extracted from him, Kushina transferred her own Nine-Tails into Naruto and died. Masahiko preserved her soul in his Mental Space, then successfully resurrected her three months later in a youthful body. 541 546
