Background

Xie Yue was the captain of Spirit Hall’s Golden Generation, leading Yan and his younger sister Hu Liena before Jiang Mian joined their group. He accepted Bibi Dong’s order to train alongside Jiang Mian and the other new companions. 11

Bear Lord recognized the compatibility between Xie Yue’s Moon Blade and his own Sky Rend Claw, taking Xie Yue as his disciple. Xie Yue formally kowtowed three times and thereafter trained under Bear Lord’s demanding standards. 11

He later deployed to the border of the Extreme North with Yan and Chrysanthemum Douluo, where he killed numerous Evil Spirit Masters. An Evil Spirit Master’s self-detonation left him seriously injured, but he concealed the wound while continuing to cultivate until he collapsed at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Ye Lingling treated him alongside Jiang Mian. 23 27 29

At Divine Eagle Canyon, Xie Yue entered the Dark Rift after Nether Empress sent him and Yan there to investigate its possible Divine Relic. Inside, he chose to help a trapped little girl despite the danger of becoming trapped in the cursed temple. He emerged blind, but was recognized by a divine miracle and awakened the Mind’s Eye. 37 38

Appearance

Before losing his sight, Xie Yue is described as a handsome and refined young man with the bearing of an elegant noble. After the Dark Rift, his sightless eyes and calmer aura make him resemble a frail scholar; he sometimes covers his eyes with a veil. 27 38 39

Personality

Xie Yue is disciplined, stubborn, and intensely self-motivated. Although he accepts that Jiang Mian is stronger, he refuses to remain behind him and trains from dawn to dusk to narrow the gap. He considers wounds “a warrior’s honor” and initially rejects treatment for injuries he believes he can endure. 27

He is loyal to his companions and particularly devoted to Jiang Mian, whom he calls one of his best brothers. His desire to become stronger stems largely from wanting to fight beside Jiang Mian rather than becoming someone who must be protected. 27 48

Despite his battlefield ruthlessness against Evil Spirit Masters and goblins, Xie Yue is compassionate toward the vulnerable. His decision to save the little girl in the Dark Rift, even at the risk of being trapped by the temple curse, earns him divine recognition. 27 35 38
