Boom!
An energy wave grazed past their cheeks. More than a hundred Fidayans were struck by the weapon in Xitaxi's hand and instantly lost their lives.
"We truly don't know where the ancient warrior is!" The leader looked at his clansmen, who had died without even leaving behind bones, his eyes filled with grief.
But the alien did not believe him.
Xitaxi steadied the energy launcher on his arm, anger flickering in his golden lizard-like eyes. "You stupid little dwarves, you still dare to deceive Lord Xitaxi with lies! Hmph, didn't you say you didn't know anything about the ancient warrior? Then as you wish, all of you can die!"
As he spoke, he aimed the energy launcher at the surviving Fidayans once more. Dark red light flashed at the muzzle.
"No!"
The leader shouted in panic, trying to explain, but it was already too late. A dark red flash burst from the barrel, and a massive energy wave brimming with destructive power flew toward them.
"It's over!"
The Fidayans closed their eyes in despair. The adult Fidayans pulled the young children into their arms and covered their eyes with their hands.
With a thunderous explosion, the ground shook continuously for several seconds. Yet the expected pain never came. The Fidayans opened their eyes in astonishment and saw a handsome black-haired youth standing before them like an unshakable mountain.
The immensely powerful energy blast had been punched away by the youth, but no one had seen how he had appeared before them.
"Y-you, who are you?"
The suddenly appearing figure gave Xitaxi quite a fright. Especially when the other party had actually knocked the energy wave aside with one punch. Xitaxi hurriedly raised his energy launcher at him, though his body involuntarily retreated several steps.
At a critical moment, all he could rely on was an external weapon? A cold smile curved Chaya's lips, and disdain flashed through his eyes. Then he turned to look over the still-shaken Fidayans.
They were a subhuman race less than a meter tall with blue skin. Their ears were very short, with only a ring of fleshy tissue visible. Along both sides of their heads was a row of sharp little black horns, protruding only two or three centimeters.
When Chaya looked their way, the terrified Fidayans showed panicked expressions. They looked timid, not daring to meet his gaze.
"Heh, your courage is unexpectedly small!" Chaya laughed freely. After suffering such a terrible disaster, these Fidayans had become as skittish as startled birds.
"Get lost!" Seeing that the other party was not taking him seriously at all, the lizardman Xitaxi cursed angrily. However, having sensed danger, he was not foolish enough to reveal his true emotions.
Instead, he cleverly and discreetly used his Scouter to check the energy in the other party's body. The result shocked him: the reading displayed only 540!
Xitaxi's eyes lit up, and a surge of superiority immediately filled him. His confidence swelled at once.
"Wahaha! I thought you were some expert, but you're just a little brat. It's your bad luck to be caught by Lord Xitaxi today!"
Xitaxi said arrogantly.
Then he swaggered forward. When he approached Chaya, Xitaxi looked down at him with his golden lizard eyes and casually pressed the energy launcher against Chaya's head, saying disdainfully, "Lord Xitaxi only needs to fire once to kill you."
"Then go ahead and try!"
A sharp glint flashed through Chaya's eyes, and a faint smile appeared on his face. With a whoosh, he vanished from where he stood. Then a cold voice came from behind Xitaxi, chilling to the bone and utterly devoid of emotion, like a verdict issued by King Yemma, thick with killing intent.
"What's going on?"
Xitaxi was greatly startled and hurriedly turned around. Only then did he realize that the figure who had been right before his eyes had disappeared without him knowing when, only to reappear behind him.
Not good! Xitaxi's entire body went cold, and all his scales stood on end. He immediately swung the muzzle of the energy launcher on his arm toward where Chaya stood.
Bang! A dark red ball of energy shot out from the barrel. When it struck Chaya, it made a dull bang. The energy ball seemed to have hit a thick wall and immediately scattered into a cloud of crimson smoke.
Seeing that his attack had hit, Xitaxi became arrogant again. "Hmph, you don't know your place. This is what happens when you oppose Lord Xitaxi."
But Xitaxi's expression soon froze again. As the smoke dispersed, a small figure emerged from it, completely uninjured.
"Cough, cough!"
Chaya covered his mouth and coughed twice, then waved away the dust and smoke around him. Pointing at his battle suit, he said with a chuckle, "Heh, these energy cannons don't seem powerful enough. Look, they didn't even break my battle suit!"
Xitaxi stared at the slightly scorched spot on the battle suit where the energy cannon had struck and shouted in disbelief, "How is that possible? The energy cannon in my hand has the power of 2,000 battle power! How could you be completely unharmed?"
"It's simple, because my strength far surpasses yours!" As soon as he finished speaking, Chaya's figure blurred like a gust of wind, appearing before Xitaxi in an instant. He lightly pressed both hands against Xitaxi's chest.
Boom!!
An enormous force struck him. Before Xitaxi could react, his body shot away like a cannonball fresh from the barrel. He crashed into a wall dozens of meters away, punching a huge hole through it. Broken stones scattered everywhere, burying him beneath them.
"Ah!"
With a miserable cry, wounds burst open all over Xitaxi's body. He struggled out of the rubble in a wretched state. Raising his head in terror, he saw a pair of pitch-black eyes looking at him as if he were an ant.
A chill rose from the soles of his feet to his brain. His throat suddenly felt dry, and though he opened his mouth, he did not know what to say.
I'm going to be killed! Xitaxi screamed inwardly, but his body was completely beyond his control from fear.
"Y-you can't kill me! I'm Lord Zarbon's subordinate. If you kill me, Lord Zarbon won't let you off!" Xitaxi shouted on the verge of collapse. He revealed his backer, hoping the other party would spare him for Lord Zarbon's sake.
"Zarbon?"
Hearing that Xitaxi's backer was actually Zarbon, Chaya paused slightly. Could the powerful evil Ki he had sensed be Zarbon?
Thinking of Zarbon's description in the original story, combined with the Ki he had sensed, it seemed certain that Zarbon was the one who had launched the energy attack on Fidaya. But why had Zarbon left Frieza's side, where he usually stayed with Dodoria, and come all the way to this remote Planet Frieza?
Could he have come under Frieza's orders? Chaya could not help speculating.
"Y-yes, sir! I came to capture these Fidayans under Lord Zarbon's orders!"
Xitaxi carefully watched the other party's expression. Seeing that he seemed to know Lord Zarbon's name, he immediately clutched at it like a lifeline. He nodded repeatedly and spilled every detail without holding anything back.
After hearing him out, Chaya asked, "Why is Zarbon attacking Fidaya? Was it under Frieza's orders?"
When the alien heard Chaya directly call King Frieza by name, cold sweat immediately broke out over him. Trembling, he said, "Y-yes... King Frieza ordered us to come to Fidaya and search for traces of the legendary ancient warrior..."
"The legendary ancient warrior?"
Chaya nodded slightly after hearing that, unable to help pondering it alone.
What exactly is this ancient warrior? Could it be something like the legendary Super Saiyan?
He knew that what the original Dragon Balls world had revealed was merely the tip of the iceberg related to the protagonist. The universe was vast and boundless; perhaps many secrets remained hidden in its deeper reaches.
"Sir..." Xitaxi called out cautiously, afraid that speaking too loudly would displease him.
"Oh, I forgot about you!" Chaya came back to his senses and laughed brightly. "Well, it's time to send you on your way!"
