Background / History
Chaya was originally an office worker who died and entered a dark void. After reaching a colossal cluster of light, he was subjected to intense pain as two gray energies fused and tempered his soul; he then awakened reborn as a Saiyan infant on Planet Vegeta. His pod identified him as an intermediate-talent Saiyan with Brent and Beatrix as his parents. Immediately aware of Planet Vegeta’s eventual destruction, he resolved to gain the strength and freedom to determine his own fate. 1
Rather than return directly after being assigned to exterminate Planet Selma’s natives, Chaya remained there with Selyne for over three years. He turned the dangerous planet into a training ground, prioritizing combat experience, ki perception, and control rather than relying only on Scouters and raw Saiyan power. 5 6 7
After Selyne transformed into a Giant Ape and nearly killed him, Chaya awakened his time-based ability and later developed spatial powers while recovering. Concerned that their abnormal growth would attract King Vegeta or Frieza, he chose to conceal their strength and travel to Earth to study martial arts. 9 10 11
On Earth, Chaya trained under Korin, Kami, and Mr. Popo. Their teachings gave him a foundation in ki control, efficient movement, breath control, and martial arts philosophy. He also used the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to accelerate his development before returning to Planet Vegeta. 15 16 17 21 22
Back on Planet Vegeta, Chaya defeated Shakuda and became captain of the newly named Chaya Squad. He used the squad’s Dotalia mission to demonstrate strategic leadership while continuing to hide his actual power. 35 36 38
As Frieza’s hostility toward the Saiyans became clear, Chaya revealed his strength and proposed relocating Saiyans beyond Frieza’s control. His Instant Transmission became central to the evacuation effort, and other Saiyans began to regard him as their natural future leader. 43 44 47
Personality
Chaya is cautious, ambitious, and intensely proactive. Knowing the future dangers of Frieza, the Androids, and other threats, he refuses to wait for enemies to force his growth; he prefers to prepare in advance, retain the initiative, and conceal useful advantages until necessary. 2 22 43
Unlike ordinary Saiyans, Chaya values refined ki control and martial arts understanding as much as battle power. He is wary of becoming dependent on his supernatural abilities, believing that raw strength and disciplined cultivation remain essential. 6 16 98 132
He is protective of Selyne and his adoptive family, acting as Selyne’s mentor, guardian, and older brother. However, he can be coldly pragmatic toward enemies; during the Dotalia extermination mission, he showed no remorse for killing primitive natives he regarded as weak. 6 10 11 37

Saiyan Physiology
Chaya possesses the natural traits of a Saiyan, including rapid growth through training and recovery after severe injuries.

- Energy cost rises with the affected area and the opponent’s strength. 11
- Completely exhausts his internal energy when used at maximum capacity against a qualifying target. 11
- Treated as a last-resort trump card rather than a routine technique. 11 98
Instant Transmission
Chaya’s spatial superpower, developed independently from Yardrat’s technique.
- Initially allowed jumps within a ten-kilometer range. 11
- Later enabled interstellar travel, including travel from Planet Selma to Earth. 12
- Can transport up to ten people at once across vast distances. 43
- Was crucial to plans for moving Saiyans away from Frieza’s reach. 43 47
- Chaya intends to further refine it through study of Yardrat-style Instant Transmission. 11
Space Slash
A spatial attack developed after Chaya mastered his spatial power.
- Created from his development of Instant Transmission. 12
- Described as an unexpected and highly dangerous attack comparable in utility to Time Freeze. 12
Ki Blast
Chaya’s standard ranged energy technique.
- Fires a powerful blue energy wave from both palms. 7
- Was used against Selyne’s Giant Ape form, though it failed to decisively stop her. 9
- Can also be used with fine control, such as igniting a fire with a fingertip blast. 11

- Used to examine his own combat power after the Grand Elder’s potential unlock. 129
